Distance measuring devices have become so prevalent in today’s game. You’ll often see players out there with both a range finder and a GPS, which I freely admit to being a member of this category. Then there are those golfers who take an analytical approach to their game and use specific products to gather their shot data to spot their strengths and weaknesses. Needless to say, if a company is looking to make a splash in the rangefinder/GPS market, they make sure the product is both strong and carries a differentiator. Shot Scope is not new to this space, but they are announcing a product today that is the first of its kind. Today, we get a first look at the Pro LX+, which gives golfers the ultimate on-course distance measuring device with an accurate GPS, and performance tracking.
You read that correctly. The Pro LX+ from Shot Scope offers not just one specialty but three. At first glance, this device looks like a solid laser rangefinder, and spec-wise, it is. It provides many of the characteristics we come to expect from many of the top-of-the-line models, including three different shoot modes, 7x magnification, slope technology, target-lock vibration, and the ability to alter the optics by choosing either red or black overlays. As far as accuracy goes, this laser is accurate to within 1 yard and comes with a 900-yard range.
Underneath the eyepiece sits the magnetically secured H4 GPS and Game Tracker. The H4 GPS provides accurate front, back, and center distances to the green and offers proper layup yardages. Hands down, the most significant benefit to using the H4 GPS as part of the Pro LX+ package is that users get 16 shot tracking tags that tie into Shot Scope’s analytics platform. Shot Scope’s statistical analysis is deep with over 100 different data points, including strokes gained.
“Shot Scope is thrilled to unveil this game-changing device to the golf industry, as we introduce GPS distance and performance tracking technology to laser rangefinder users for the first time ever,” said David Hunter, CEO, Shot Scope. “Our V3 Smart Watch was a tremendous success when launched in 2020, and now we are bringing that same artificial intelligence to rangefinders and giving golfers a multi-product system that is offered at a price point for every budget.”
Shot Scope has done some extraordinary things with its products hardware and software that make it stand out against the competition. On the hardware side, their tracking tags that screw into the grip end of the club are a shallow profile which gives a barely-there feeling. Another nice feature is that golfers do not need to keep their smartphones nearby for the system to work, and all the data can be transferred to your phone post-round via a Bluetooth connection if you choose. There are also plenty of social and sharing opportunities built within the software, including virtually joining a course which will allow you to see other rounds played at that venue by fellow Shot Scope users. Finally, no subscription fees are associated with Shot Scope, and updates are free.
While the entire Pro LX+ package is impressive, some golfers might decide they have a rangefinder they currently enjoy, or they already use the ShotScope V3 to get GPS distances and performance tracking. If that situation sounds familiar, a notable aspect of this release is that the Pro LX rangefinder and the H4 GPS can be purchased separately. On their merit, the Pro LX rangefinder and the H4 GPS with shot tracking are mighty units. Together they make the Pro LX+ a first of its kind.
Pro LX+ combines a powerful laser rangefinder, a fast and accurate GPS, and a shot tracking system that Shot Scope is known for. Together, they give the golfer every tool imaginable to plot their way around the course and provide them with a blueprint for improving their games. According to their analysis, Shot Scope says that golfers who have used their devices have dropped four strokes off their handicap on average. Will you be one of them?

let’s get that unboxed
I dont think it would pick up practice swings, since you have to “tap” the tag to the H4 unit. Interested to see your thoughts on this one!
@GavinwithaR1 The Shot Scope Pro LX+ looks outstanding. It was extremely easy to set-up. Thank you again for answering all of my questions.
@ddec, I am really looking forward to your review.
I was ready to go in 15 minutes from the time I unboxed until I could go hit the course (but I’m letting the H4 charge).
Can’t wait to see how data and precise laser range finder help improve my game.
well done my man!
Can’t wait for you to get it out on the course and hear more of your feedback!
Quick note, when you are mounting that H4 on there, you can remove that cover from there back plate of the rangfinder. It allows the H4 to sit in there a touch deeper.
Nice! That’s good to know. It comes off super simple. See what happens when you don’t read the instructions first.
don’t feel bad, I discovered it when I was searching for the battery location lol
I was able to find that rather quickly at least. Really look forward to your feedback on this one.
@GavinwithaR1 I do have a question. Can you add notes to the round? It was extremely windy today. 20+ MPH. So I went with a longer club and choked down to flight the ball different than I normally would.

You are really going to like it I think @ToddJ027b. It was really simple and easy to use.
ProLX is 7x magnification compared to 6x. 900y range vs 875y. Form factor a bit different with that thumb notch for the stability grip. Case is water-resistant on the ProLX, has Rapid fire tech so speed is up.
If I already had the Pro L1, I’m not sure I would upgrade. But if I were between the two, I’d probably jump to the Pro LX on the off habit something happens to my V3 I can just throw the H4 in down the line.
I’m looking because I stupidly left my 4+ year old Leopold in the cart yesterday and the golf course has "shockingly" not called me back today after I called them 40 minutes after I left the course
amazing right? I did that once and thankfully the course had it in the pro shop.

Looking at picking up one of these units. Is there no built in bite magnet like some of the newer range finders? Anyone planning on throwing a magnet strap on it and will it fit the device with that deep thumb notch?
Did you use the H4 for tracking only @ddec, or did you use the GPS & tracking on the H4?
I used it for both tracking and gps.
Not sure when they will be available in-store at this stage. PGATSS aren’t the easiest to work with at times. It is online with Golf Galaxy but usefully under GPS watches category I think. Budget Golf should have them online next week. Amazon should have some or can pick up on the Shot Scope website.
We have taken a battering on stock over the last 2 days but should have a lot more by the end of next week.
pretty sure I know why stock was flying off the shelf @GavinwithaR1. These things are ?. A definitely ACE here for Shot Scope!
If you do end up ordering one, be sure and let us know what you think about it!

very much in line. Had some where it was 147 front on the H4, front pin, 152 on the last. So nothing alarming.
I didn’t truly appreciate the slope feature Pro LX until I started using it. It makes a huge difference. It’s worth noting that the Pro LX locks on quickly. I put this to the test this past weekend. Both of us had picked the target but not locked in. We checked the distance at the sametime and the Pro LX was faster. I’ve also enjoyed the always on mode for checking distances. That works very well for checking several distances quickly. The red or black text and crosshair is a nice touch.
The data I’ve gotten back so far has been outstanding! We shall see how it continues. I really think after about 20ish rounds I’m going to have a great sample to help me understand my misses, etc. I’m already seeing trends and using it to my advantage.
I’m pretty frugal when it comes to spending money on myself. 10/10 times I’d buy this product again.
I can’t wait to hear others comments as well.
Pro LX Rangefinder
– I think it’s a touch on the larger side, but it’s comfortable to hold. Love the notch design for the thumb.
– When I first opened the box I checked out changing the red/black screen, and indoors, the red looked bad. So I was a bit worried about it. I played on a cloudy day, used the red type, and boy it was pretty darn good. So if you test out in a store or somewhere inside, don’t judge the red by how it looks until you get it on the course.
– Distances were definitely in check with what I was seeing on the GPS, but against another rangefinder I had on me. Will do more of a shootout against a handful of units coming up soon, but I have zero worries about the yardages.
H4
– Magnet is strong. I used a mix of keeping it on the rangefinder and having it on the holder cinched onto my belt.
– Was quick enough acquiring the course from the moment I chose to play and track
– Yardages were accurate
– I didn’t mess too much with looking at hazard yardages based on the course, but the option is there if you choose.
Data Tracking
– This was pretty easy to get started. Took me 10-ish minutes to get all the trackers screwed onto my clubs. These fit better, more flush, against grips that use a flat endcap.
– App setup and downloading a course was straightforward
– No need for the phone in your pocket, just tap the butt of the club against the H4 and it vibrates to let you know it’s ready to track. Work it into your preshot routine and all is good.
– You need to make sure you collect or record the final part of the hole.
– Going into the app or website after the round syncs you can make adjustments. For me, I have one hole that it recorded a bunch of putts instead of two. So I made sure to edit that stuff out. The overlay of the round is cool and the stats are easy to see. I’ll throw some shots up here today.

I figure if I quit my job. Commit to practicing 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, I will be able to make those numbers shrink by .025 haha
So true. So, so true…
1- as a superstroke GT putter grip user, how should I be affixing the tag for that onto the club? I’ve never had anything like this or arccos, so definitely new territory for me.
2- how are most of you utilizing the two in terms of form, namely, do you have your H4 on your belt or do you have it connected to the rangefinder?
@xThor
1. Since the GT with the weight kit, I’d look at cutting the screw off and using some double sided tape to secure it.
2. The H4 is either in my pocket or on my belt at this point with how I’ve incorporated it into my pre-shot routine.
Im looking forward to getting a chance to giving one a try and having some fun diving in.
love the rangefinder. Very simple, easy, and worked very well.
struggled with the H4, not from a tech perspective, but just to remember to actually use it. I liked it when I remembered to use it, but need to get more familiar with it and create a habit of using it
Was it awkward tagging clubs before swinging? I’m so used to Arccos and having to do basically nothing I feel like I would forget
yes. Not in a bad way. It wasn’t frustrating to do, it was moreso just very very unfamiliar. I’ve never used anything like this, so still trying to figure out the best way.
I tried it for a couple holes attached to the rangefinder. That was a bit difficult as i didn’t carry the rangefinder around for every shot.
Tried it on the belt clip, but with the rain and movement, I felt like i might lose it, so that was nixxed.
Then ultimately i put it in my pocket. This was probably the easiest, as (when i remembered) i would just put the tag up to the pocket and wait for the vibration to confirm.
I still need to understand all of the features of the H4 as well, as there was a bit of a learning curve on the course, especially with my first use being in a tournament, i think it will be better during a casual round.
I will say, I like the visual representation (basically the hole overview) of my S62 watch, as I can see if there is water or danger ahead pretty quickly. I know there’s some kind of option to do something on the H4 but i haven’t learned it yet.
Good to know, thanks. Looking forward to more feedback before I make the leap.
The only area where I am grey on the H4 is on the greens. @GavinwithaR1, can you help me here. I use the tag on the putter for every putt, then I click to pick up. Is that correct, or should I be doing something with the 1-4 numbers that are on the screen.
I haven’t tried to see if you can change any settings to get a better picture of the green with the H4, but if I’m being honest that probably isn’t something I should worry about, I just need to get it on the green.
I can help with that. Using the putter tag and the "auto" mode in settings, when you hole out you press the button corresponding to the number of times you used the putter, NOT the actual number of putts. It also records the location of the hole when you do that. For example, your approach ends up on the fringe and you putt it from there, then take two putts from actually on the green. You would record "3" on the device, The system will sort it out and count the use of the putter from off the green as a "chip" and account for it in your short game stats, and it would show you as taking two putts on that hole.
