When I first saw this glove, I was walking through a golf store and stumbled across it. I looked at the glove and it made sense, but I thought “ehh, not for me”. It was priced higher than other gloves, looked too thick, and I don’t have hand problems anyway. Well, thanks to the THP readers’ input, we decided to pursue this “Glove to the Super Heroes” and see what it is all about.
Based on the large reader response, THP contacted Bionic Gloves offices in KY. We spoke to a lovely woman their by the name of Cheryl Fink. Cheryl gave us so much info that all of the sudden, I was kind of looking forward to testing it out. Here is what we learned:
Designed by a leading orthopedic hand surgeon, Bionic technology is totally unique in the marketplace. There is nothing like it. The difference is found in the design based on the anatomy of the hand and the science of ergonomics. The hand has natural peaks and valleys determined by the bones in the hand. The high points of the bone rub against tools and equipment and cause blisters, calluses and hand fatigue. Bionic improves grip strength, without the need to grip harder, and reduces hand fatigue. Plus, friction causing blisters and calluses is virtually eliminated.
After hearing all of that, I was definitely sold on at least trying it out. So after a few days of “patiently waiting”, the day finally arrived and the box was delivered. I opened it up like a young child on Christmas morning. Once inside I saw the gloves and got excited again. Then I put them on! I did not like it at all. They were a little thick and very different than what I had been programmed to like for the years that I have played golf. But in remembering back to my conversation with Ms. Fink, she explained that this was totally normal and that once I got used to it (a few swings) that I would be hooked. (I must say, I doubted this).
So off I went to the course with 2 friends. We were all equipped with The Bionic Glove and eager to prove them wrong once we used it. We each grabbed a large bucket and proceeded to the range. After two swings I was convinced that I could not do the review and so were the others. It just felt too awkward. But we give it 110% for you the readers, and decided to suck it up. By swing six, I forgot I had this glove on completely and it settled back into routine. By swing ten, I thought I had the best “feel” of any balls I have ever struck. It was like the beginning of the end. First I went through denial, then hatred, then anger, and then acceptance. Finally came JOY!
After my round at the range I realized a couple of things. My hands felt absolutely fine. I get blisters every now and then, as well as rough hands from gripping the club so tight. Once using this glove, I had neither of those issues. It was like I was wearing a protective shield. The others all felt the exact same way. In fact the female at the range with us demoing the women’s version felt the strongest about it. She normally has to use both tape and Band-aids, but when using the Bionic Glove, she needed neither.
Here are some key points to keep in mind:
1. The padding is in all the right places and even with shots caught thin, you have zero pain.
2. Although thicker, the glove has a nice snug feel and after 5-6 shots, it feels normal.
3. The material is very well constructed, and this glove will last 2-3 times longer than a normal glove. (my opinion is that it will last even longer than that)
The gloves can be had in either black or white for men. The women have a choice in white with light blue or Pink. The MSRP is $24.95. I went into this project neutral. I suddenly got excited by details. Then I was let down. Now I am excited again. Who would of thought, all this from a glove? I know I didn’t. The fact that it can eliminate blisters and calluses did it for me. I have been wearing mine for five rounds now and I will not give it back. The other testers are also sold on it. I would say this, based solely on grip and longevity it is worth it. Most gloves last a few months if played with each week. This will last much longer than that. Plus you get the medical science behind it. If you play in hot and humid conditions, it is a must have accessory. If you have any hand issues, it is A MUST HAVE ACCESSORY.
Now on to the question that everyone brings up when we discuss this glove. IS IT USGA LEGAL? The USGA sanctions the glove for any player with hand issues such as arthritis and many more. If those issues are not present, the USGA takes it on a case by case basis. Meaning that no, it is not ILLEGAL. But it must be checked on ahead of time. Currently, Bionic Glove is finishing up a Tour Model Glove that is a little thinner and completely part of the USGA rules.
I think that most of the public would gain some serious benefits by playing with the glove. Once you are used to the fit, it is remarkable about just how good it feels. But in all fairness, there is really only two reasons that I am sold on it. First, I can honestly see this glove lasting me a full year or more. Second, I still have yet to have a single blister or callus while wearing it. Those reasons alone will keep me using it. Bionic Gloves can be purchased at retailers across the country or online at Bionic Gloves. Check them out, it will be worth the try.
Till Next Time

Thanks for the review Josh.
The Bionic Glove sounds like something that may make for a good stocking stuffer for the old man (and momma too!)
I may even need to pick one up for myself to try out.
Sounds interesting. I look forward to trying one out.
Now Brad can stop worrying about his athletic tape!
As one who tends towards the death grip on clubs, this sounds really neat.
Which retailers carry these?
Dick’s Sporting Goods
Edwin Watts
Golfsmith
Don’t forget Golf Galaxy’s and many Golf USA’s. Ask your private club to bring them in also! I did!!!
Since I have sissy hands Ill have to give one a try. They should make them in Michael Jackson sequence too, that would be awesome.
Great review
Very informative.Sounds like you’ll get your monies worth in durability.
Got these and played with them in Vegas. My hands are pretty beat up from years of contact sports. Broken fingers and thumb. Well worth the cost. The help my grip and reduce my post golf game hand pain.
Worst glove I have ever seen or used. I think they are made by the same company that makes those lousy Power Bilt clubs (MADE IN CHINA NOW). Don’t even try these goofy looking and goofy feeling rags.
Keith,
Almost all clubs are being made there now outside of the Japanese brands. Did you actually try the glove out? We have had great success with it and gave away 10 in our forum and the people all really liked them as well.
This has been a terrific posting
