If you haven’t noticed what Voice Caddie has been putting out in the distance measuring department, it’s time to start paying attention. They have been on a roll lately with both rangefinders and GPS devices. In just a matter of weeks, they will start shipping their newest GPS, the T9. T9 represents the most ultra-premium GPS watch that we have ever seen from Voice Caddie.
Voice Caddie GPS watches continue to offer many valuable features that help justify that ultra-premium classification. As with most GPS watches on the market, golfers will see the expected information such as front/center/back distances to greens. But there is so much more information provided on those ever-important approach shots. We tend to think of slope readouts only being available on adequately equipped rangefinders, but sure enough, golfers can play with the adjusted distances based on elevation changes on the T9.
Course mapping is a big part of the T9 as the overhead hole layout view can provide yardages to hazards, bunkers, and other points of interest on the course. As golfers gather information for their approach shots, a green undulation view will show the various slopes in the green so that golfers have a better understanding of what lies ahead. This color-coded green view can be a game-changer for those who tend to play a bunch of new courses. When zooming in on the green, players can also manually alter the pin location to adjust their distance. Do note that not every course has these green undulation mapping available.
How often do you see your playing partner checking out his GPS watch while on the green? It’s not likely that this is a common occurrence. However, that could change with the T9 as it offers a Putt View mode that helps show golfers which direction the putt will break. It might not be as in-depth as the green-reading books on the PGA Tour, but it should be plenty good for amateur golfers.
One feature that has me pretty excited is the Practice Tempo Mode. On the T8, a player’s tempo was registered after each swing, from the driver down to the putter. It did offer feedback to the point where if the shot result wasn’t as expected, golfers could quickly look to see if their tempo was a factor. On the T9, there is a dedicated mode that allows you to dial in your tempo whenever and wherever you want, making it more helpful and convenient.
Last Summer, THP Forum members tested the Voice Caddie T8, and the overall thoughts on that device were positive. With the T9, we are not looking at a complete overhaul of features, but it feels like it is more refined. Anyone looking for a feature-rich GPS watch with no fees for course mapping and updates should take a look at what Voice Caddie has been able to produce.
The T9 is currently available for pre-order at www.voicecaddie.com.

Yes let’s!! How are you liking the tempo features??
work in progress for my tempo, but I actually dig it that it’s here. And I love that when I look at the scorecard in the app, I can see the tee shot tempo(minus par 3s).
I like that. That’s new on the 9. Have you used it on the range at all yet?
THe scorecard feature is really good there.
I currently use a Samsung Galaxy watch with the "Smart Caddie" app and have some issues that have me looking at a new gps watch.
1. It can take up to 30 seconds to find the course. Not a big deal, but something to talk about.
2. It has issues when my local golf course starts us on the 10th hole. It never works properly and numbers the holes wrong.
3. It is a pain to go back and edit a previously recorded hole shot. You can go the the previous hole, but then getting back to the correct hole is pretty poor. Most times it won’t return to the shot distances and then I am screwed for the round (no more gps distances).
Those are my main gripes on my Samsung watch and want to know how the T9 deals with these issues?
I am also interested in the Garmin G62, so any comment there would be great. I did not want to start another thread so I posted it here. Hope that is OK?
It may be just a Pinehurst issue but I could not get the hole overview for anything on courses 2,4, or 7. The yardage worked and the green map was working but those features are used less by me than the overview.
First time it happened the watch was having trouble with GPS know what hole I was on even though I manually tried to adjust it multiple times. That time I was able to power it off and back on to successfully get it working.
I wear Samsung Galaxy watches but haven’t used the Smart Caddie with them. I Grint with that watch and it works well.
1. The T9 doesn’t take 30 seconds to find a course. Just have to make sure you open the app on your phone quick.
2. There’s only one course I’ve found were it gets confused on where I’m starting, and it was the same with the T8. Sadly it’s a regular course. Otherwise it’s been great, and I’ve never had an issue when I’ve traveled with either.
3.It was a bit tricky for me to figure out and remember how to back out and edit a score in these watches. It’s easy to get back the right hole if it gets away from you though, and it will pick up your tracking whenever you’re physically on the same hole as they one your watch is on. If it’s still asking you to put in your score on the previous hole when you’re at the next tee though, it will miss the tracking on that shot. I like to get in the habit of just checking my watch before every shot.
after reading what @OldandStiff Said in his post I went to the app which I never do to do a Little research and the things I was missing are actually not listed for those courses. I assume this is intentional by Pinehurst. Not a terrible surprise because 2 and 4 offer caddy services but I had not thought to look.
after doing a little more checking there are some courses that don’t offer all of the features that I thought were always on there out of the box which you can see by the icon next to the course.
Resort C are corses 6 and 8.
Resort D is course 9

It’s rated for 27 holes of golf…but I’ve squeezed 36 out of it. For daily wear mode, I’ve gone roughly 8-10 days before needing to charge, excluding golf during that time.
36 holes is more than I can squeeze out of my body and the 8-10 days sounds nice. Now the decision process begins: this or the V3 on sale
I have them both. Very different. GPS watch features, this one is better. But I love using shotscope data so the V3 is on my wrist more times than not.
I have to wear my V3 watch on my left hand to get it to register and it’s wildly uncomfortable…but I have just accepted it while golfing for the stats.
I presume the only alternative would be to create a new account with a different email address
It’s so handy. I was just thinking the other day that I need to wear mine at home when I’m hitting in the bay more.
When I was testing when I was having issues (me being LH) for a righty it seemed you need to wear it on your left wrist for it to work right. It seemed hit or miss if I wore it on my right wrist and took right handed swings. Granted I was focused more on left handed swings, but I was trying left and right handed as well as watch on each wrist to see what I could figure out for any sort of pattern of working or not. (the IT tech in me trying to troubleshoot haha)
