Vokey SM9 wedges were introduced to the world one year ago, and for anyone who follows the release trends in the golf industry, there is an understanding that 2023 does not shape up to be the year of a new SM lineup. But Titleist still has tricks up their sleeves to help keep the SM9 in the conversation as they understand that golfers like additional options, so that is what we are talking about today. Recently, Vokey announced a line extension where T grind, usually a WedgeWorks exclusive, will make its way into the main lineup in the 58° and 60° lofts. Today, they are announcing a fresh take on a dark finish, which they call the new Vokey Design Jet Black Premium wedge.
Vokey wedges already provide golfers with four different finishes, Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel, Jet Black, and Tour Raw. Today’s announcement of the new Jet Black Premium adds a fifth option that, according to Titleist, will bring increased durability. While five finishes might seem overkill to some, Bob Vokey understands the importance of finding a wedge that suits one’s eye.
“A player has to love their wedge when they look down at it, and finish plays a key role,” said Master Craftsman Bob Vokey. “Having confidence in your wedge at address is hugely important.”
This new Jet Black Premium wedge features Titleist’s latest finish, known as Titanium Carbide Vapor. Most of us who have experienced darker finishes on irons or wedges understand that they only look pristine for a short period. After a while, that finish begins to wear off and, depending on personal preference, can be unsightly. Titanium Carbide Vapor goes through an improved heat-treated binding process. Titleist says this process will help provide improved durability and keep these wedges in top-looking shape for longer.
These heads come with a Dynamic Gold Onyx S200 shaft and a Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip for the finishing touches. As you probably guessed, the grip is black with blacked-out Vokey-branded BV wings creating a look that would even thrill the Dark Knight.
Regarding options, and let’s face it nobody does wedge options quite like Vokey, all 23 lofts, bounce, and grind combinations will be able to receive the Titanium Carbide Vapor treatment via WedgeWorks. For golfers who want to avoid going the custom route, there will be 12 variations available in a standard stock build, which are listed below.
50.08F, 52.08F, 54.10S, 54.12D, 56.08.M, 56.10S
56.12D, 58.08M, 58.12D, 60,08M, 60.10S, 60.12D

Vokey Design SM9 Jet Black Premium wedges will be available in golf shops on March 3, 2023, with a price tag of $249.
Same. Love the look just not sure I can pull the trigger at $250.
You make a fine product, Mr. Vokey, but GTFOH
I’m with you, Scott. Call it what you want, PVD is PVD, and doesn’t warrant a premium on an already expensive wedge.
Saying this as a fan of most things Vokey

Lots of good wedges out there ????
Would you pay 250 for a forged wedge?
I will not.
