Continuing the fun of the Golf Pride contests this year with the CJ Cup from Shadow Creek. This will also serve as our official thread for the tournament bringing the banter and conversation through the weekend.
The Prize
You will get a full set of any Golf Pride grips you would like including the new MCC Team grips. Head over to their website at www.golfpride.com and check out the full lineup, because you might just win, what the pros play.
How to Enter
Post below who you think will win. For the tie breaker, include in your entry, how many players in the top 10, will be using Golf Pride Grips. If nobody picks the winner, we will choose based on the tie breaker.
Morikawa. 8/10
Safe to say Hatton is on fire.
Hatton picking up right where he left off last week, I guess it wasn’t just a magic hoodie.
Bryson Dechambeau
8 of 10
Si Woo Kim just took a crazy aggressive line straight at the hole from 205 in the first cut on the right of #15. Will be interesting to watch that hole this weekend.
Nice bomb by Rory..
Sergio loses his drive right on the par 5. Si Woo Kim puts one in the fairway and Rory mashes one nearly to the end of the fairway. Sergio’s provisional is in play. Fun tee on #16!

Wolff having a pretty brutal day on the greens so far.

Matt Wolff 10/10

I really know how to curse guys with these picks lately lol.
It looks like there is a very good chance that DJs record will be broken today (65). But that was played all the way from the tips. It looks like they are moving up a few tee boxes based on what I’m seeing. For instance, I am fairly certain there is another tee box behind the one they are playing on #11 (320+ yards from the tips).
I think there will be a playoff between DJ and BDC.
Sigh. My pick, Fleetwood, looks to be a bust. +4 so far. 😡
Here is the scorecard for anyone that is interested.

Rahm looking ok so far!
Seems like this will be a tough course to put four straight rounds together on.
Hatton said pace of play was slow. He was paired with Woff and his putting routine has gotten a little “deliberate” and wonder if that’s what he meant.
Rahm has this likely – slow starter but potentially the most motivated great player in game IMO but Xander and Hatten also strong.
I actually hate the pre-shot routine by Sergio. I’ve never been a fan but I actually at one point said “stop jerking off your grip and just hit the darn ball.” Probably a combo of not liking him and an annoyingly long pre-shot routine. ?

It actually has improved over time.
Why the small field for this tournament?
Awesome field on an incredible track. Morikawa and his butter cuts make a comeback for the win this week.

It’s true…He’s has less regrips and waggles than before. The one that kills me now is Cantlay. I think his idle growing up was the young Sergio.

I don’t know what it is, but aside from the fact I can’t stand Sergio… also can’t stand re-grippers. Awful to watch.
Go Rahm – he has a temper but has learned to mainly control and is so immensely talented.
Sergio, Rahm, and Hatton are in featured groups. Not sure why they didn’t just put them all together in a super tantrum featured group ????

It is a limited field event. Top 60 from previous season’s final FED EX CUP standings plus exemptions. I believe the field is 78 players.
Brooks and Sungjae going to have some trouble getting up and down for birdie on the drivable par 4 11th, which is the way it should be!
Morikawa with a great shot into the tough par 3! Maybe he’s bouncing back after a few tough weeks.
Then Xander drops one in even closer!
Edit: And Hovland is inside them both for a tap in. WOW!
Xander is on the move early again today! ?

He can’t possibly win because I put him on my fantasy golf roster.. ?
I wonder if Rory is going to make any changes to his driver. It beat him up most of the round yesterday.
Xander is on fire right now. just dropped a 35′ putt for birdie
Wolff with a bogey-bogey start. YIIIIIKES!
Brooks looking rather pedestrian these days.. Kinda sad..
Sorry if this was already discussed. Looks like Morikawa is using an FCG putter.

But not looking gimpy. That’s all that matters right now, I think. Plus he tends to overlook these events because, Brooks ????
Hovland eagle bomb from the bunker!

Yeah, I have my opinion on that. I think there is more at play then strictly an ” I don’t care attitude”. Pretty soon he will ” I don’t care” himself into playing groups with Vaughn Taylor and Hunter Mahan..
Also, is there anyone that is as good as Morikawa that switches putters more often than him??
Ok, Xander. ? 5 in a row and -6 thru 8.
Xander is unconscious right now!!! 5 birdies in a row.

I really enjoy watching his swing. There is something very simplistic and solid about it that I really like.
And there’s the Hovland bunker shot.

When he is on like he is right now, he’s one of the top 5 in the world. the putter seems to dictate his low rounds. He tends to be a little wild but the putter hasnt always bailed him out like today.

agreed.
These greens are rolling so pure right now. It’s hard to imagine this is a course in Vegas.
