Srixon added to their golf ball lineup with the new Z-Star Diamond earlier this year. Z-Star Diamond is a higher compression ball designed for golfers with powerful swing speeds to find that perfect balance of speed and spin. For the golfer who does not harness that kind of speed but still wants a golf ball to be long and offer plenty of control, Srixon offers us the latest generation with the Q-Star Tour, which is available in stores today.
“The new and improved 2022 Srixon Q-STAR TOUR continues to deliver tour-caliber performance with a softer feel compared to our other tour-level offerings,” said Brian Schielke, General Manager at Srixon. “This ball provides the distance all golfers need with the greenside spin and control to attack the toughest of pins.”
Starting from the inside out, the 2022 Srixon Q-Star Tour is built like a high-end tour golf ball, only engineered differently to fit the swing speeds of most amateur golfers. We get a FastLayer Core similar to the Z-Star line, but Q-Star Tour has the softest core of their tour-caliber golf balls. This design gradually transitions from a soft inner core to a firmer outer edge. According to Srixon, this transition makes the core behave like one with thousands of layers, which is why the Q-Star Tour produces a ball that generates not only a soft feel but plenty of distance.
Why do so many amateur golfers enjoy the Q-Star Tour? It’s because it reacts like those higher-cost golf balls on the green. Srixon has thrown a lot of their cover technology at this ball, including implementing their Spin Skin with SeRM (Slide Ring Material) coating to the urethane cover. This coating helps produce a little more friction at contact. This combination ensures that the Q-Star Tour will have enhanced spin on approach and short game shots, giving it an advantage over other soft golf balls. Throughout Srixon’s internal robotic testing, the latest Q-Star Tour produced upwards of 400RPM more spin versus shots recorded with other competitor golf balls in this category.
Cosmetically, there is a slight change to the side stamping of the Q-Star Tour. For 2022, the side stamping looks similar to the previous ball with a black background, only lengthened. It’s a subtle change, but golfers who use this area to help line up their putts might find this helpful.
Q-Star Tour has been extremely well received by golfers with moderate swing speeds since being introduced back in 2017. This ball seems to be getting better with every generation, and the 2022 offering is poised to follow that trend. More information on the newest Srixon Q-Star Tour is available at www.srixon.com.

My man!!
That’s how I feel too… I think I still have around 2 doz in my closet right now. Great ball no matter the version.
I think distance was probably pretty similar to the old QST, but the cold and wind makes it difficult to determine any real differences. The results were basically what I expected distance wise. All in all, it seems like Srixon made some incremental improvements, without changing the things that made the QST such a good all around ball. I’m looking forward to playing this more to get a better feel for it and compare it more to the old QST. So far, so good though!
On a side note, I like the alignment aid on the side. It’s really easy to see and line up putts, even when I take a few steps back. It’s a little thing, but I liked it and figured I would mention it.
I swapped mainly for cost. QST is usually $12 cheaper a dozen and I don’t see a whole lot of performance difference. Maybe some green side spin, but nothing drastic.
looking forward to your thoughts.
Picked up a dozen of the 2022 models. Still a big fan of the Divide.
Only color in stock is Red atm. Waiting on the sale to stock up for the year!
I like them because I can really find them! Even if it is just the fairway LMAO
I have tried the Volvik lime green and I can see them….
i went into to grab a dozen of these but came out with Z Stars instead…guess i gotta go back?

Told you!
Reads post and looks for somewhere to get in on the last day of the Srixon Fathers Day Deal.
TBH from what I saw today, As good as any 3 piece tour ball out there including PV1. Felt maybe a tad firmer on putts but negligible and I adjusted pretty easily
I’m hoping it plays similar to the ChromeSoft. I played my absolute best golf with the ProV1x. But have been on a hunt for a cheaper ball. I’d played pretty well with a 2-piece and was starting to convince myself I’d be fine with that. But then I bought a sleeve of ChromeSoft just to see what the buzz was. I had my best 9 holes and some my best golf with it. It’s long and straight off the tee. I can’t describe it in words, but just absolute solid with irons. A touch longer for me than the SuperSoft with a high trajectory and just sticks.
I have pretty good distance for my handicap. About 100 mph with the driver. Not looking for more distance, just something that feels good and performs well.
But I’m not looking to spend $50 a dozen for them…
I’d tried the Z-Star, ZV and the Soft Feel. The Z-Star was pretty good, but didn’t like it as much as other balls off the tee. I wasn’t a fit for the ZV at all – too hard for my taste and just didn’t get good results with it. The Soft Feel was OK, but prefer the SuperSoft when I’m playing a two piece.
Chromesoft ish for most.
..aaand you just posted while I was typing that. Yes, they’re close to CS for a lot of people. Maybe even lower spinning than.
Chromesoft is my guess.
I love this ball and have 9 dozen which should pretty much get me thru the year.
I being a crappy golfer can get these to check up nicely around the greens.
Bridgestone Tour B RXS
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!
Really like the ball, got plenty of spin on my iron shots and putted fantastic with it.
I, like the others posted here, am regretting not get more on the Academy Sale.
Finally tried it today. I got a sleeve in a tournament last week. I’d bought 3 dozen at Academy during the B2G1 sale – but had considered taking them back.
I hadn’t been playing well on the front 9. #8 was a 214 yard par 3. I push sliced a hybrid OB into a yard. I should have gone to the drop area. But I was so frustrated, I told them I was going to hit 3 from the tee. Stuck the second shot to 5 feet and sunk the putt for a bogey I had no business making.
I played rock solid golf the rest of the round. It was good off the tee. It isqAgreat with irons. It performed like the ChromeSoft I loved. I hit a 6-iron that landed a foot from the pitchmark..so the stopping power was fine.
It was predictable and performed well in the short game.
I’ll make it my primary ball next round. I may end up regretting not loading up during the sale.
Glad you liked it. I was going to offer to take them if you didn’t want them.
I have 8 dozen left with 3 dozen divides.
I agree about being stingy and not buying more. We’re not as smart as @X.Man I’ve had the 2022 QST in play since I got the and I really like them. Had 2 shots into greens with wedges today, one out of rough that just bounced and stopped. Plenty of spin. Plus my drives are getting a little longer. I never believed in forgiveness in a ball however I believe it now.
Naturally, I pulled out a sleeve to test the latest version of the QST and, wow, this ball performs. Most impressive was its bite on and around the green. I had approach shots with 5 and 6 irons that hardly moved from their pitch marks. Pretty impressive ball.
I’ll say one thing – if you didn’t tell me this was a Q Star, I would just assume it’s a premium ball. Most of that is feel related – in hand it feels like a urethane ball. In terms of performance, I do notice a bit less spin, but even then it’s very playable. Where I might expect a solid 3/4 wedge to stop dead or spin back a couple feet, this one hopped, and stopped within a few feet. That being said, greens are firm right now. I can hear the thump from 100 yards away.
The Reg Q Star felt hard and clicky to my Not a fan but the Tour model is softer and much better Imho.
I really do like the QST. Played it most of last year. I went down the Ballnamic rabbit hole late last year and tried several balls it recommended. But just didn’t like them as much. I pulled out the QST from time to time during the round and it always performed well.
I wish Srixon had their QST sale at the beginning of the year instead of Father’s Day. I would have loaded up for the year. Instead I bought 8 dozen Chrome Softs during the B3G1 sale and should be set for the year.
I may still load up on some QSTs during the sale though.
I agree with you 100% on the sale timing. I think they miss out on people who stock up early on sales. Most people don’t want to wait till June to stock up for the year.
I switch between the Q Star Tour and the Chrome Soft for this very reason. Both are great balls.
I remember the feel of the AD333. The Soft Feel is definitely more firm, despite its name – you described it perfectly. The Callaway Supersoft was a better 2-piece soft ball than the Soft Feel. I never tried ERC soft though.
The description sounds like a love child between the Chrome Soft and Supersoft, which could be a VERY nice ball. Sort of the Callaway version of the QST.
I’m curious about the dynamics of the ball market. With prices inching up in the premium ball market, it feels like there is a sweet spot there to exploit. Every company is trying to find a niche there (ERC Soft, QST, Titleist Soft/Speed), but they feel sort of ‘niche’ still.
I imagine a U shaped sales chart where the premium and 2-pice offers make up the lions share and the mid ball is lagging.
I hated the Soft feel also. Sounds like you might like the QST.
Yeah! I could not get past the feel of the Soft Feel. You knew you were hitting a golf ball, but I got this feeling of "vagueness" at impact. Was never sure if I hit it hard enough, or fast enough, to make the shot I wanted. Played basically about 2 rounds with them, gave them away. Cally Supersoft, which I played for 3 seasons, is a way better feelng ball, especially at my 80ish swing speed. Switched away from those, thinking I was leaving distance on the table. Was playing the matte version of the SS, and it was not too bad around the green. Have tried 3-piece balls, but to no avail. Lose them off the tee, too short, too soft, too much spin when I don’t need spin. Currently in a 70ish compression, 2-piece value ball from DSG. Not too bad a ball. My CBX2 wedges love this ball. Works fairly well, as I can get it to check on the green, with some run out. But!! I could use more stopping power on the green! Who doesn’t? Just don’t need that spin to leak over to other parts of the game..Maybe the QST is the answer…
Will possibly looking at the Tour Speed this season also, if I don’t fall in love with another ball that fills my bill…
I tried the Titleist Tour Speed last year. It’s an OK ball. My biggest issue with it is that it doesn’t hold green well on full swings or partial swings. YMMV, but I ended up in my shag/grab bag of balls. It was miles behind the QST.
edit – IMO I think Titleist makes so much money from the ProV1 that they put very little effort into their other balls. They are fine ceding that market to other companies.
Side note – does anybody else have a big grab bag of balls they didn’t like/found that they will never play? but it feels weird to just throw them out. I say I’ll save them for the ‘fart around’ round that never comes.
