Throughout the past year Titleist has introduced a fitting initiative with their Titleist Thursday events, where players can get fit for any of the company’s current offerings. When it comes to driver fittings, they have narrowed the process down to what they call 30 in 30, which is essentially 30 swings in 30 minutes, in order to get proper configuration set to allow the 917 driver to be the ultimate performer and earn a spot in the bag.

To start off a fitting session, time is set aside to get to know the player and how their current equipment reacts. While that all sounds like an easy and simple process, it’s a step that carries a lot more weight than one might realize.

Wow what a great approach to fitting. I love the fact he said we are changing swings we are trying to match clubs to swings.
Great job Dean and now I want to find a TT performance center

We are not changing swings. Dean I need a lesson on proof reading before I submit

Very enjoyable content. The comprehensive nature of the TPI fitting described is mind blowing.?

  4. Russtopher says:

Great video, very in depth about what they look at to make sure the player has the best fit possible. I never thought of my clubs as a “crime scene” :D

  5. Maybe Just Maybe says:

I really want to go there and get fit for new irons. This is the best video I have seen yet on their fitting approach.

  6. Jlew2144 says:

Great video and I liked the crime scene analogy. As others have mentioned the idea of matching club’s to swing and not trying to change the swing is great!

    Great Interview!
Interesting that Titleist believes they can fit any player into either ball with driver, probably true for most players.
I like that overall process quite a bit and I don’t think any player could come out the other side without improving something.

Really good interview Dean! Very informative and I really like their approach to fitting across the board. They’re really doing it in a way to help people shoot lower scores.

This was an interesting discussion. We’ve got a Titleist performance center down on the south shore, and I’ve always wanted to get fit down there. But with the “streamlined” process they’ve got, the Titleist Thursdays they’ve started might be a great opportunity.

Great interview Dean and I really like the approach Titleist is taking with getting players fit for their equipment. The idea of taking time to inspect a current set up & then make recommendations from that requires their fitters to wear multiple hats like you mentioned.

That was a great interview and like Titleist’s approach to a full bag fitting and to the ball.

Titleist rocks – the 917D2 is the best driver of 2017!!!!!

  13. David Prosch says:

That was a very interesting and informative interview. Great job.

  14. Fredrick Kong says:

Pretty straight forward approach to fitting. Dean with some solid intuitive questions.

  15. Alex B says:

Fantastic video and interview Dean. I was fascinated how they approach a fitting as fitter and how they look at the bag and try to optimize it.

Also how they fit the ball to the iron and driver to the ball was interesting and I liked how they start from the green back.

I have always for my last 3 Titleist iron sets been to club fitting days. Titleist I find are very thorough and respect your thoughts of what you need. Great post thanks.
