I assume the camera is trying to "meter" to expose everything and with the bright sky the people's faces are going to stay dark.
You'll have to overexpose the scene to get the person brighter

Your problem may be the backlighting Morgan. If the sun is behind them, the faces will be dark.

That's much better though!

Without the tent, when I originally started watching, it was really quite good.
