2015 THP Events--Where and Why? Lets Discuss

New Orleans (shopping, French quarter)
San Antonio (Riverwalk)
Vegas (spa at the casino, shopping, the strip)
New Orleans would be a new one.

There is a fantastic casino/resort/golf course in escanaba Michigan. It hosts a Symetra Tour event. It would be great for THP if it were nearer to an air port.

Some great suggestions. If I had to vote I would prefer in this order

1. Colorado
2. Arz/Cali
3. RTJ
4. Mesquite, Nevada
5. Texas
6. Midwest (Branson/Des Moines)

Sheboygan/Kohler Wisconsin area is great of course. The Bull is HIGHLY underrated. Blackwolf and Whistling overshadow it. It's fairly close to Milwaukee (Great airport!) and really is a great area.

I used to play The Bull every year as part of a trip to Kohler and Milwaukee. It is one tough course, I'll say that.

Another suggestion - I'd like an excuse to visit the Golf Hall of Fame.

Those incessant commercials featuring Gary Player (one of my favorite golfers) have really grabbed my interest.

Being a touch overshadowed has kept the price affordable. Which is nice

The Irish Course at Whistling is also overshadowed by the big brother (Straits).

The Irish could easily host a THP event. It is walking only only. But it would be a blast.

I haven't played the bull in years. When I played it last, it was a really fun design that was more than a challenge

I seem to recall checking that place out before for some reason. looked nice

As someone who drives out there often (I'm a Syracuse grad and on a board, so go out a few times a year), this would be an easy drive for the northeast folks as well. The resort is pretty nice, and has come a long, long way since I was a student there and playing poker in what was basically a warehouse.

As I just looked. Whisting Straits Irish course and Blackwolf's Meadow course are both $135 for twilight rates. The THP party planner would have to do some work to make those work.

Might be hard since those courses don't struggle for business. They may not negotiate rates.

I like the idea of San Antonio for sure, I think Colorado would be awesome too.

Here is one that it kinda of the beaten path a little....it's only about 20 minutes from the Austin Airport

Beautiful Hyatt property ( I know JB likes those)....very secluded and Wolfdancer is an amazing golf course.

I love that area. I did play TPC San Antonio a few years ago. But it was in shat shape because of the drought.

I think an outing in the Twin Cities would be pretty neat. Once summer comes, the weather is spectacular. While it's pretty easy to fly there, driving would probably be out of the question for most THPers, though.

Anything in the Southwest would get my attention. Arizona would be a great place to play.

My vote is for Western PA, the draw would be massive, there are plenty of Albatross members that would travel to this area. It has the potential to draw AC members from NY, OH, IN, NJ, MD,MI and WV (Take a look at the Pine Lakes OH Gathering Thread, which would be just north of this course)

The course that would be perfect is Olde Stonewall Golf Club, one of the top public courses in PA. It's located just north of Pittsburgh in Ellwood City, there are plenty of hotels and restaurants around the area, as well as a pub right on the grounds.

Travel is pretty nice, lots of interstates run through the area (79, 80, 76) and the Pittsburgh Airport is about a 35-40 min drive away. It's time for THP to invade the keystone state!

Heard lots of good things about this course! great idea Brad!

1 isnt bad, but a whole series kinda alienates the folks that choose not to gamble imo

Places with casinos have more non-gambling entertainment options that places that do not have casinos.

I love Stay and Play events, I know that is not always do-able, but I enjoy when everyone is at the same place for the event and any extra rounds. Not that we have to stay at a resort, but where we have one inclusive price is what I like. I might be in the minority though

I dont think so dude.. I much prefer the Stay n Play and imagine many others do too

Denver area
Phoenix/Scottsdale
San Antonio
Atlanta
Indianapolis
Chicago (not getting my hopes up, but maybe again someday)
Milwaukee north (Kohler, Bog, other)
RTP
Palm Springs

I like the stay and play as well but it is tough for the people that live close to have to pay for a hotel room that isn't needed.

I prefer stay and play but that is in large part due to the fact I need a room no matter how long the event and prefer multiple day events.

First, props to the people that didn't just take the easy way and suggest the area that they live in.

Second, I think it's much better off for people that want to travel if the events are within ~1 hour of a major airport. I know that the Lake Charles event was at a great venue, but it was a multiple-hour drive from Houston or New Orleans, that's the main reason why it wasn't appealing to me.

Third, 2 areas that haven't hosted a THP event yet and would be good options:
Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina (tons of good public golf courses in that area, and even just over an hour to the Pinehurst area if you want to expand that range to get more variety in courses)
Denver (I think that there's a healthy contigent of THPers that are local to that area, plus it would be easy for many people to fly into that area)

Fourth, I appreciate what MWard is saying, but I think it's a safe assumption that no matter what is put into this thread, there will be multiple events in Florida every single year because of the proximity to THP HQ.

I second the Raleigh/Durham area. I know there have been and will be THP events in South Carolina, but there are a lot of great course in that area with a pretty easy airport to get in and out of.

I am also with those saying that Colorado would be a great location for an event. Personally I have never been to Colorado and it is high up on my list for places to visit.

Plus I am always going to plug for my home area of Western NY even though I am no longer there. There are some great course in the area, growing number of THPers and easy access for THPers from mutilple states.

We will have a mix of stay and plays and non stay and plays based on the event.

Looking more for feedback as to where (city) and why per the first post

Nashville for the music outside of golf, and to be able to hang out with SparksJr..?
