First Irons You Ever Bought?

Top Flite set... didn't last me long before I got the urge to upgrade.

Callaway X18 Pro Series. Still have them!

MacGregor Tourney 3-PW.

1974 Spalding Championships.
I bought them new at Pay-n-Pak.
The set came with 1-3-5 woods, 3-5-7-9 irons, putter and a black and red bag.

Walter Hagen boxed set from DSG when I started playing.

Nike CPR 2... Bought them the summer I got my first "real job". I had been playing about 6 months and loved them.

Adams Idea A3OS. Had a lot of fun playing those.

Nike slingshot clones.
Syncron medic. Actually liked them a lot.

Other than the Northwestern 3, 5, 7, 9, PW included in the set I bought at Walmart, that would be a full set of Palm Springs irons 3-PW. I bought them with the money I won playing blackjack when the casinos opened up in KC.

The 1st brand new set I purchased were a set of 2006 (maybe 2007) MaxFli A10 irons from Dick's Sporting goods. I got the entrie matching set, driver-wedges. They were actually pretty darn good clubs. If I recall correctly they were made by TaylorMade.

Mizuno JPX-EZ were the first set I purchased new.

Golden Ram Tour Grind Axiel.

The first brand new set I ever bought was Taylormade P7TW, shortly after selling those I bought a set of MP20 MMC.

First set I ever bought was a set of Top Flight from a pawnshop.

Maxfli persimmon driver / fairway , cant remember iron model . Magnificent sound off the long clubs when struck.

Gosh I would have to say Cobra Gravity Back Irons back in 1998?

Ping i25 irons. Bought them in 2015 right as I joined THP. I believe my first or very close to first post mentions that I had them on order. I found out about the i25 irons in the hot list (no joke) and thought they looked cool. That was all I knew.

Hold on. I did also purchase some Taylormade irons sometime around 2006-2008. I am not sure of the exact date other than soon afterwards the economy tanked. A university foundation development officer scheduled a golf outing at the super high end Yellowstone Club in Big Sky for fundraising with board members of an institute where I worked. I didn't have clubs and didn't know anyone who golfed. I bought clubs off the floor of a little golf shop we used to have in town. I think we only played 9 holes, and saying I played golf is an over-representation. I swung clubs at golf balls that went all over the side of Lone Mountain. It was crazy. And to make matters even more crazy, I was better (this is splitting hairs, of course) than the 2 YC members I played with. Clubs then sat in my garage after that until I gave them to a buddy so his HS kid could play. I am really not sure how to frame that whole setup in my golf life. Single use clubs I suppose, and I really didn't have much intention of golfing. It was interesting, just not a fit with my lifestyle and activities at that point.

My first sets were built by a family friend and then as I got older I built my own. My first set I bought myself was were Nike Pro Cavity irons

1983 MacGregor ColoKrom MT M85 from the Navy Exchange for about $300.00

2-SW

I owned a few sets of them over the years and totally forgot about them until few years ago when I finally cleaned the clubs out of my shop attic.

Not a very forgiving sole on those irons but a great blade overall.

A set of Arnold Palmer irons. They were made of some cheap metal mixture and they snapped in the cold weather.

1985 square-grooved Ping Eye-Two.

First set I bought was a used set of i3 irons. First set of brand new was ping i10.

2009 Version of Titleist AP2's
