UPDATE! TESTERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED! STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER GREAT FORUM TESTING SIGNUP COMING UP SOON.
At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing.
Earlier today, THP Live (if you missed it, watch above) had guest David Neville from Callaway Golf on to discuss the latest lineup of equipment and answer your questions. During that stream, we mentioned giving a bunch away to THPers to test and review on the forum.
Each participant chosen will receive either a new driver or hybrid from the lineup. Your job will be to review the new Big Bertha B-21 for a period of 30 days. Like all of the forum testing, you must be able to check in daily (or close to it) to discuss and answer questions. At the end of the testing period, the club is yours to keep.
How to Sign Up
We will select 10 THPers to review the equipment. (5 for each)
What is your current driver and hybrid?
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
We will announce the testers next week in a new thread on the THP Forum and then get these shipped out to you.
My current hybrid: Previously didn’t play one but am trying out the Callaway Apex 4h
What I liked about what Dnevs said during the livestream: Other than the B-52 name being a good one it is that the B-19 driver is very"point-and-shoot" and that it combines the forgiveness with low spin. While I don’t find myself aiming for the trees to get into the fairway, I definitely have to play for a little bit of a fade, and starting the ball more down the heart of the fairway would be a welcome change!
I like the idea of the Callaway made shaft, that is super easy to launch and specifically made to help enhance the Big Bertha B-21 lineup!
Hybrid: Taylormade GAPR Low 2 Iron.
I found it most interesting that Calaway designed this shaft around the club head itself. I think the shaft is far too often overlooked when breaking down how a driver affects your ball flight, and it would be very cool to compare the effect of the tailored shaft vs a stock or aftermarket shaft.
Hybrid: RBZ 4 (22 degrees)
i loved how much tech callaway puts into their clubs. It’s amazing to hear how they use the AI process in each club to optimize every single club. It’s sweet to know that the club you’re holding and about to hit is optimized to have the absolute best performance. If that doesn’t give you confidence, not quite sure what would
Current Hybrid: Callaway 4H FT-3 Fusion
I am most intrigued by the idea of reducing spin rate and limiting the miss on less than perfect swing.

What I liked the most from the live stream was the info about the driver producing low spin, with my current driver it’s very hard to play a fade or draw because it comes off the face in a very unpredictable way.
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream? I liked that the Calloway B-21 is not an offset driver that goes straight left but one that makes you hit it straight and favor the left side without being extreme.
Actually don’t have any hybrids at the moment. I’ve tested them in stores and can’t see to find a right one.
He said the driver has a low spin rate and very forgiving. Would look nice in my bag as I haven’t used my driver off the range in the last 20 rounds because of my slice.
Current Driver: Big Bertha Alpha (stiff)
Current Hybrid: 4H Adams Red (stiff)
Both are okay, but I could use an improvement in the forgiveness for non-center hits
Current Hybrid: 21 degree Titleist 818 H@2 (Tensei stiff – 90g)
I found it interesting that Callaway has actually done the design of the club head around the shaft specs. Shaft makes all the world of difference when getting a driver. Often people believe that the driver is not the one for them, when really the only issue is it doesn’t have the correct shaft for their swing speed, launch angle, ball flight, etc. I have learned this first hand the difference a shaft can make and I would love to test these clubs.
Driver: TaylorMade M4D
Hybrid: TaylorMade M2 (2017)
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I like the way de described that the driver was designed as a "slice killer, low spin, forgiving" model. He also pointed out that they only used testers with a 17+ handicap (all three fit what I need in a driver). This is one of those drivers that even if I am not picked to test, I will actually go out, hit one, and if it works like @DNevsCG says, actually spend money on a club this year.
I like that he talked about it not being an offset driver. Real interesting that they were able to lower the spin AND make it draw biased while also keeping it square.
Current Driver: Wilson Staff C300
Current Hybrid: Tour Edge Exotics CBX Iron-Wood 17°
What I liked: Low Spin Forgiveness. For a while it always seemed like forgiveness implied spin. As someone who fights spin I’ve tended toward more “players” type clubs to try to preserve some distance at the expense of more punishing results on poorer strikes. B21 sounds like it could be that unicorn club for me that keeps me in play while still putting a scoring club in hand for my approach shots.
Current hybrid: none
I am intrigued with the forgivingness of the callaway big bertha
Current Hybrid- Rogue 4
More flight, reduce ball spin
Callaway Epic 3 wood & rescue
Callaway XR Speed.
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I appreciate his clarification that this line should maintain its forgiving qualities, but not at the expense of high spin. If true, this could be a fantastic set worthy of the Big Bertha name.
Callaway XR Speed (lefty).

My first Big Bertha Driver was 9.5 deg with reg flex 50g Fubiki shaft and it was for me the first driver to ever give me any real success on the golf course.
I have tried other drivers with limited success and the low spin models help but even my good shots still leak a little to the right and my bad shots way to the right or pull to the left.
Most recently I have switched my driver out of the bag and put a Maverick 15 deg 3 wood with 60 gram Stiff Riptide shaft in its place . This Club is exceptional and gives me as much distance as my previous Big Bertha Driver did and I can play it off the tee box and off the fairway with confidence and it is straight .
I would Really love the opportunity to try and hopefully play the New Big Bertha B21 Driver.
What a combination that might be
Driver BB B21 (hopefully exceptional)
Fairway Maverick (outstanding)
Hybrids BB OS 5/4/3 (outstanding)
Doug
Current Hybrid: None – but willing to try one
What I liked most was the design to reduce side spin and slice. I’m just recently taking up the game after a long layoff to raise 3 boys. I’ve been working with a coach and have finally started reducing my slice on my shorter irons. It definitely shows back up in my driver and is really keeping me from enjoying the game as I absolutely dread walking up to the tee box. A new driver that would help that part of my game would be a game changer.

The way the new Big Bertha B21 was described during the clip as looking more traditional at address and not obviously offset as with game improvement divers of the past .Along with the technology and placement of weight to deliver lower spin and good Moi with draw bias interests me and sounds like it may well be the driver I have been waiting for.

Current hybrid is a Cobra oversize 3/4h w/ Smacwrap 780 ES x
I am intrigued about the forgiveness of the driver while still being a low spin driver
What I found most interesting is that they developed a shaft specifically for this driver, really intrigued by that idea.
Current hybrid: Mavrik Pro 20 degree
I continue to be blown away by the spin profile on this one. Blown away is not hyperbole. I simply cannot get my arms around it. In past years, driver has been my strength. This year, it’s my weakness. If I could get driver going, I would be playing my best golf ever. Would love to give this a whirl.
What do you like most about what DNevs said in the live stream?
Driver; less spin, straight ball flight and a profile like the SZ. I’m definitely not married to my driver and my biggest concern off the box is hitting fairways. Based on what DNevs said about the B21 I’d love to see of this driver could work for me.
Hybrid; when he talked about all levels of golfers being able to hit the new hybrids he got my attention. I have tried several hybrids over the last several years and still haven’t found one I’d keep in my bag. When he talked about the characteristics of the new hybrids he described a club I may be able to consistently get up in the air.
I would love to test either.
TM M4 D-Type
No hybrid
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I was excited to hear those who had struggled with a hybrid in the past were able to immediately find success. I tried gaming a hybrid in the mid-2000’s and was so erratic with it that I haven’t put one in the bag since, choosing to slice a 4-iron instead (at least it was predictable ).
My current hybrids are Acer XFs
I was very interested in his comments on AI. As an engineer the face designs to get a wider sweet spot are way cool. Especially for someone like me that probably only catches the center of the club face about half the time.
I was excited to learn that Callaway is actually hiring. and has a position reporting to Dnevs.
Current Hybrid: Bridgestone 2h 19 Deg.
I like what Dnev said Callaway is doing with a forgiving low-spin driver. Feel like there aren’t too many equipment makes that have conquered that well.
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I’m all about the confidence boosting aspect. Will make me want to head out even more for sure.
I don’t use a hybrid
I like that they emphasized how much more of a game improvement type club this is.
Hybrid is a Callaway X-hot
I like how they went to an in house shaft that is specifically made for the Big Bertha B21 head to help with the launch of the ball.
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream? Low spin AND forgiveness ! A match made in heaven….
What I really liked about the livestream was that Dnevs talked about how the Big Bertha driver was a “point it where you want to hit it” type club, which really resonated with me as I have struggled with aiming left to play a pretty intense fade back into the middle/right side of the fairway, so a club that would allow me to aim straight every time would totally revolutionize my game!
I love what dnevs said about the slice control technology. As a former baseball player I’m always inside outing the ball and hitting deep right.
I loved what was said during the stream was about the forgiveness. I have a very high swing speed and occasionally the errant Tee shot left/right and knowing that I’d be standing over a ball with a club that I can trust gives me the calmest feeling in the world.
The lower spin and forgiveness piqued my interest. The club is designed for us everyday golfers. I would love to test it.
