At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing.
Yesterday we had all of the details on the new Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedges and judging by the huge conversation, the interest is high! We want to have some members of the THP Forum join us in the testing of this new and exciting product.
Each participant chosen will receive a brand new wedge in the loft of their choosing. Your job will be to review the new ZipCore for a period of 30 days and at the end of it, the wedge is yours to keep. Like all of the forum testing, you must be able to check in daily (or close to it) to discuss and answer questions.
How to Sign Up
We will select 6 THPers to join our staff that will be reviewing as well.

We will announce the testers on Friday and then get these shipped out to you.
I have been waiting for these to be released so I can give them a shot. I have a buddy with the RTX4 and I hit those and fell in love! ? the shear design of these wedges are incredible. They have they best weight distribution of any wedges I have seen and if they feel half as good in the hands as the RTX4s do these will be fantastic.
I would want to trial the 54, 58, 60 degrees. I have a tendency to try and pull more up/down shots when I’m closer and I like having that little bit more loft. ???????????

50 degree Taylormade hi-toe with hirev kbs shaft
54-08 degree titleist SM8 with stock shaft
58–11 Taylormade hi-toe with hirev kbs shaft
I’m intrigued by the RTX I played Cleveland throughout college days and used raw wedges for years after. I am interested about the weighting the ease through turf. I hate to loose my wedges right but that is my miss.
I would love a 58 degree with medium bounce. Ideally for pitching, bunkers, minor lob shots. Anything from 90 yards and in. I am very particular about sand and bunker interaction.
Currently playing 4 wedges: 48 Callaway Jaws (S-grind), 52 Cleveland CBX2, 56 Callaway Jaws (S-grind), 60 Cleveland CBX2.
What’s not to love, it was already a great product. Appears to have more consistency across the board. Spin, distance, feel, control. And durability w/ longer lasting grooves. If considered for this testing i would like to try 60* to game it compared to my current 60* CBX2.
I also play the PW and AW from the Callaway Apex but I am not looking to change out those clubs.
C’mon Random Number Generator!
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like? Love the new shape, love the finish, and would love to try the Spinner shaft offering. I would like a RH 50* wedge, with mid sole.
I’ve been playing Ping Glides the last few months, but loaded up a set (among many) of my RTXs for the weekend rounds. I’ll likely be going back to them with the irons I’ll be playing for a while.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
Not going to lie, they looks great. The satin chrome version is pretty much my ideal look. I love the progression they’ve made with the CG and weight distribution through the different iterations, and this sounds like another good step there. Big fan of the extra grooves too. Just a lot to be excited about.
What loft would you like?
A 54* mid would fit and compare to my other wedges best, but I’m an RTX ***** so I’ll give anything a thorough use.
52/56 SM7 60 RTX4
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore?
As a low spin player… Spin, Spin, Spin, SpinSpinSpinSpinSpinSpin
Classic look Cleveland is known for.
What loft would you like?
54 Mid
I have played Cleveland in the past and really liked them. I’m intrested in the new technology they have put into these and see what exactly it does and can do for my game. A 60 degree would be best because my current one is about to golf heaven, aka, the pond on 18 at Winterstone golf course.
Titleist SM4 56*-14 and 60*-10 L Grind.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
I’m excited for the ZipCore technology to allow for more forgiveness plus the sharper and more grooves on the club face should give us immediate feedback when playing. With playing less I’ve become less confident in my 60* but my 56 is ol’ faithful. I would like to try a 60* wedge to see if I can gain that confidence back.
I play the set pw and gw then currently have a 54* CBX2 and a 60* CBX Full Face in the bag. The Callaway wedges in my signature are on order; Jaws MD5 56* bent to 55* and a 60* PM Grind 19.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore?
The Zipcore, Ultizip grooves, and the new heat treatment.
current wedges:
Vokey SM8
most interested in:
The weight movements. My misses tend to be toe side and curious how these would help.
preferred Loft:
54 mid
52|10 S grind Callaway Mack Daddy 4 with Dynamic Gold 115 S200 shaft
56|14 Cleveland 588 RTX 2 Dot with Dynamic Gold S200 shaft
58|12 W Grind Callaway Mack Daddy 4 with Dynamic Gold 115 S200 shaft
In comparison to my current wedges, the RTX Zipcore has extra grooves to help create forgiving and unforgettable spin and the innovative ability of the Cleveland team to use low density materials to perfect CG. I like how the team at Cleveland rebuilt a classic wedge and added high-low MOI to the back and with the repositioning of the CG will help amateur players hit more shots on the sweet spot, thus creating lower scores and better control with the wedges. The replacement of heavy steel with a lightweight core allows the design team to make a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing club to look at while confidently knowing that this wedge will help me with spin distance feel and control.
I would like to try out the 52, 56 and 58. The most inconsistent part of my game is short wedge shots and this is the best looking and technologically designed wedge to improve consistency and lower scores. These wedges should help shave 3-4 strokes off of anyone’s game.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like? Well prior to my Indi’s I played the first gen Cleveland CBX wedges for two years because I loved how they moved the cg from more heel side to center. They were the most forgiving wedges I’d ever hit (hense two years in the bag) but being a single figure handicap wanting more of a blade style wedge look again is what moved me to Indi. After seeing the new zipcore being a player shape and look again but with hidden tech similar to the cbx line, I just have to try them and would love to give an unbiased honest review of my experience. If picked I would be interested in 50° mid bounce, 54° high bounce, and 58° low bounce.
I’ve had Callaway MD4’s in the bag since December of 2017. My current configuration is a 50*S, 54*S (bent to 55*) and a 60* X.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
I’m intruiged by Ultizip, and would love to see how it compares to the MD4 raised grooves. I’m also really interested to see how their heat treating process effects durability.
I’d be interested in putting a 62* Low in the bag. It’s been warm and dry around here, and I have a feeling the combination of sole relief, extra loft, and those new grooves would really help my short game.
Callaway MD4
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
Groove durability and weight distribution
Gotta go 54* mid
I am currently playing the Cleveland RTX 3 in 50-54-60.
I would love to try the ZipCore wedges in the 54 or 56 degree low sole wedge.
The UltiZip grooves really have me excited to get my hands on them.
I am most excited about Cleveland offering the new wedges in a raw finish and the weighting. I often want to flight down my wedges but have trouble doing so with my current set. I also want to go back to a raw head for my wedges with a 47, 52, 58 setup.
What wedges are you currently playing?
Cleveland RTX4 50* and 56*, Callaway PM Grind 60*
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore?
My 56* is my workhorse and I use it for every type of shot so when they say more control, more likelihood of hitting the sweet spot and more spin it really gets me excited. Plus I’m really curious how it feels with that new material.
What loft would you like?
56*. I use that for everything from full shots to flops.
Myself, I play 4 Tour Edge Geomax2 wedges. 48-52-56 60. They match the rest of my iron set. These are also older clubs.
I have to confess that I don’t know anything about these RTX wedges. So, excitement about them is not in my current wheel house right now.
I can say, if chosen, they would be tested 5-6 days a week, from various turf conditions and compared with my TE wedge of same loft. My reports would be very "novice like" since I have never really tested any club over a long period of time.
If chosen, I’d prefer a 52* club with as little bounce that is available.
Also, when done, the club will most likely find it’s way into the bag of a junior golfer I am pretty fond of.
Appreciate the opprutunity.
Cleveland CBX2 58*
Taylormade MG 56*
Titleist AP1 W2 52*
PXG Gap 50* bent 2* strong
PXG Wedge 45*
I’m curious to see what the ZipCore can do for the CG by placing it a little higher but still in the middle. Since this is a wedge and full shots won’t mean that much I’m excited to see what the extra groves can do in relation to spin and much more consistent it can be.
What wedges are you currently playing?
Callaway MD4 48S, 54S & 60X
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
The talk about maximizing the sweet spot sounds fantastic to me as I’m not one of those players that wears a dime sized spot into their wedges. I’m interested in the new grooves to see if they really add anything more around the green. Also love the shaft pairing on these. For testing I’d rather have something in the 54/56 SW range as that’s my go to wedge for most shots unless I’m short sided or need to run one up from far away.
Taylormade MG 60.HB 54.SB Mizuno T7 50.7 46.6
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
The new heat treat to increase durability and wedge longevity is what I like the most. Had T7 60.10 and 55.13 that lasted just over a season before I replaced due to wear.
Would enjoy the opportunity to review the 60* mid as I use it the most as it is my got to club to hit the most variety of shots over the course of my rounds. I play live and Play In Northern Alberta Canada conditions here are softer and get spurts where fairways dry out fast and lies get tight a mid/high bounce (10-12) I found is best for me based on attack angle and turf.
I’d be looking forward to the ability to hit more controlled "hop and stop" shots, which I believe this would do.
A 54 degree would sit nicely in my bag as my usual "one wedge for everything inside 50 yards club". (I’m monogamous with wedges.)
I think it’s safe to say you’ve created some excitement around this release!
1. I am currently playing Cleveland CBX 2 48 and 52 degree wedges and a Cleveland 58 degree Full Face wedge.
2. I am really excited to compare Cleveland’s newest player’s wedge against the CBX profile. I think it could make for some fun feedback for the forum. I historically played Cleveland wedges and decided to come back home this year.
3. I would want the 48 degree full sole, the 54 degree mid sole and the 58 degree low sole.
Thanks
I’m currently playing a MD3 60 degree and a 2004 Big Bertha PW 50 Degree.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
What gets me most excited is I’m Looking for new wedges to fill the gap between those two and hoping to try out a new equipment at the same time. Since it’s been a long time since I’ve upgraded my equipment.
I would probably want to Try a 52 or a 54 degree
Either way, those wedges look awesome!
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
I’m two generations behind in grooves and would love to see the differences there. Zipcore: would like to see the implementation, if it indeed affects forgiveness, and what effect if any it has on the feel. I’ve been interested in COG manipulation in head design for decades. Also wondering what the shorter hosel will look like compared to my older Clevelands. Oh, and the new DG spinner shafts. A lot to consider here.
A 58º with higher bounce would be great to try out. Need the spin for those shorter shots.
Thank you to THP and Cleveland!
I am really excited about the zipcor weight distribution. I think weight is a huge part of feel for a wedge and if they got that right this should be a great club. I would like to try a 54* if possible.
I currently play RTX4s in 50 and 56 mid bounce option.
Since the overall design of the wedge doesn’t appear to have changed much I am interested in the new grooves and the progressive CG location from a feel perspective.
I currently have a set of Vokey wedges on order along with my Titleist irons, so I don’t need to be considered for this testing – let another deserving THPer have their days with this new technology.

Luv the classic looks with a modern mixed finish twist. The smaller shape and high chrome hearken back to the good-ole 588 days. The compact size with extra grooves, milled toe and high MOI are the details I’m looking for in a PM replacement.
Ha, to choose only one… 54° Mid, thanks.

Yururi Keigekiku in 53+ and 57+ lofts
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
More shots likely to strike the sweet spot and thus yield better results
I’d love to give a 58* a try and submit my reviews vs my forged JDM wedges
I’m excited about the new core design element in the ZipCore that re-allocates the weight distribution.
I would be open to any loft available, but preferrably 58 or 54, which I use most often on the course.
Thank you for this opportunity
Jeff
Very intrigued by the multiple sized grooves and the Zipcore construction. Would love to try a °56 mid as a new sand/all-around wedge.
Thanks for all the opportunities here @JB ,this place is my sanity some days!

What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
The modified sole design. When I miss with my wedges, its usually because I dig the leading edge a bit too much. I have always been a big fan of Cleveland Golf wedges, and the RTX line in particular having played the RTX-4s thanks to THP. There is a lot to like about the look of the RTX ZipCore wedges, but that refined sole grind has me really intrigued. If selected, I would prefer a 54* wedge so I can hit some full shots, or open it up when in trouble. I will call it the Guardian Angel because it will be by my side whenever I am in trouble.
Super excited about RTX ZipCore are feel/feedback, stopping/spin on the green, and consistency of the newest Cleveland wedge and I’d love to compare & review with my (old) RTX & Titleist Vokey of mine.
I want to test and review 56*loft/10*bounce RTX ZipCore.
Thanks.
I’ve been playing Mizuno wedges for the last several years, currently playing S18s in 54 and 58, along with the Srixon gap wedge that came with my iron set. I haven’t played a Cleveland wedge since the CG14s came out.
V-sole on the mid bounce options is super exciting! My irons have the V-sole, and I love it there. I’d imagine it’s just as good on a wedge. Especially if you come down a bit too steep, which is my biggest wedge mistake.
I’d love to see if the new Zipcore can oust my current wedges and get the Srixon/Cleveland family together in my bag!
Thanks for putting this opportunity out there! You guys rock!
