At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing.
Yesterday we had all of the details on the new Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedges and judging by the huge conversation, the interest is high! We want to have some members of the THP Forum join us in the testing of this new and exciting product.
Each participant chosen will receive a brand new wedge in the loft of their choosing. Your job will be to review the new ZipCore for a period of 30 days and at the end of it, the wedge is yours to keep. Like all of the forum testing, you must be able to check in daily (or close to it) to discuss and answer questions.
How to Sign Up
We will select 6 THPers to join our staff that will be reviewing as well.
What wedges are you currently playing?
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
We will announce the testers on Friday and then get these shipped out to you.
If you have any lefties available, I’d volunteer.:) Love to see if more forgiving than my
Vokey SM 7’s. A 52 is what I play, also play a 58 lob.

What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore?
One word: UltiZip.
Per the Cleveland site they’re our sharpest yet, so they cut through grass more effectively. They’re also our deepest, which channels debris more efficiently. Plus, they’re packed tightly, so we’ve added 2 extra grooves per wedge face for more edge contact on every shot.
Right now I am struggling with spin as my course has firmed up and keep wondering if trying another wedge would help add some spin to my shots.
Also, based on my wedge setup, one can see that I pretty much have as much help as possible when it comes to my wedge setup.
Now that I have improved my game I feel like the next step to achieve lower scores is to add more versatility in my wedge game.
I think the RTX ZipCore could help with that.

I would love to test these out and give my thoughts
What wedges are you currently playing?
Currently playing Nike VR Pro Wedges with the x3x grooves in 52, 56 and 60*
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
I am very excited about the durability of the grooves and the claim of more spin and control.
I would love to try a 52* and directly compare it against my current one. This is the loft I class as my GW
If I am 100% honest my wedge play needs improvement and these wedges may be just the ticket
Thanks to both THP and Cleveland for the opportunity
Taylor made hi toe
50, 56 and Hi toe 60
These look absolutely superb
Good luck to all that enter!
I cannot wait to hear feedback on these. Good luck guys!!
I’m already a Cleveland fan and play the RTX4 wedges in 56 and 60. I’d love the opportunity to test the new wedge and give feedback. I am a daily forum poster and I enjoy doing reviews. New improved equipment is exciting enough, but it’s the new grooves I’m really excited about.
What wedges are you currently playing? Cleveland RTX 3 Black 50, 54, 58 degree
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like? I am most exited
About the higher level of forgiveness offered through tbt zipcore technology and the added bite on the new grooves. Looks like a total package wedge to me from tour caliber to every day amateur. Would love to test a 58 degree.
I’m playing the Mack daddy 52 and 60. Would love to try the 56 as I will use it and give a honest review.
Currently I’m playing Taylor Made Milled Grind Hi Toe in 50/54/60.
Having play every version of RTX in the past what gets me excited is the Cleveland name on the wedge. They are above and beyond my favorite wedge company.
I’d prefer a 58 or 60 degree, but would honestly love to test anything.
Thanks Cleveland and THP for the opportunity!!
Currently I’m playing with Nike engage wedges in a 52 square grind and a 56 toe sweep. I think testing an extremely new wedge versus a slightly older wedge will show not only the difference in technology but also prove that there might not be such a huge difference between brand new grooves and grooves that are old but are well maintained. I would prefer to test the wedges in 52 56 to keep the test as fair as possible and show if you need new wedges all the time or if you can maintain your clubs well enough you can keep them for a long time.
Theses are going to be very popular here and appreciate the opportunity to try them.
What wedges are you currently playing?
currently have the Bridgestone XW-1s (51/56/60) in the bag with Modus 105
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
the hype is real with these clubs, not only with RTX new improved technology in an old fashioned/familiar shape. The improved grooves that are deeper and technology advanced over prior generations, but most intrigued by the ability to add more weight in the hosel and the impact on performance. I would love to try the 56* as it allows for the most versatility
Long time Cleveland wedge player with CG14, CG15, RTX-3s great things happening at Srixon Cleveland.
I would love to try a 60 degree. I’ve been playing 2-3 times a week and it’s been my most abused wedge over the last two months. They claim superior durability well no one is harder on a wedge then this guy right here. My current wedges are a taylormade 56 about 4 years old, a titilest vokey 58 1 year old and a Calloway 58 also about 4 year
Thanks for providing this opportunity!
I’m currently playing Cleveland RTX-3 CB 50*; Cleveland RTX-3 MB 54*; Taylormade RAC 58*
The one thing that gets me the most excited is the ZipCore, and how they moved weight around to improve balance and raise the MOI. I’d love to give feedback and speak to Cleveland’s idea that these are radically new and ultra-familiar. Blending new tech with classic Cleveland wedges.
I’d like to try out a 58* Mid.
Awesome opportunity here! Good luck boys!
What wedges do I currently play?
I currently bag a 54 and 60 degree Cleveland CBX wedges. I do enjoy them and wedges are my favorite part of my game and I feel confident when hitting any wedge.
What gets me the most excited?
I love the blades sleek look I also really think small profile will help with turf interaction, spin and control compared to my CBX.
What iron would I prefer to test?
52 degree
I’m currently playing my set Apex CF16 Pro gap 50°, Titleist SM7 54° F grind 14°, TM Hi-Toe 58° 4-way sole 10°. I haven’t played a Cleveland wedge in over 15 years. I considered the RTX 4 line last time I bought wedges as I liked the looks but stayed away after reading some reviews of the wedges having a straighter leading edge. I’m steep and a bit of a digger. I haven’t read anything yet about the leading edge of this new wedge but the tech of the club has me curious. I’d love to test a 54° in a full sole as that’s my go to club around the greens. Thanks for the consideration and opportunity!
Awesome opportunity
what wedges do you currently play?
Vokey SM8 50, 54, 60
What is most exciting about ZipCore?
Actually the zipcore. Interested to see how the placement of CG increases consistency in the wedge and weather I will tell the difference.
what loft would you like?
60deg Mid Bounce
Wedges I currently play are callaway rouge irons, what interest me is I would like to see if there is more forgiveness on this set of irons and see if it could also have a factor of playing me tone of play
And the loft I would like to play are 58 degree loft and I’m also a lefty
Long time Cleveland Wedge player who just recently switched to Vokeys.
What’s in my bag currently?
Titleist Vokey SM7 58,54,50.
What interests you the most?
I’m super interested in the core and added MOI on the Zipcore. Aside from CNC it’s been a while since I remember new wedge tech.
What loft??
58 degree preferably with a high bounce.
Wedges I currently play?
48 and 60 degree Callaway MD3 Milled, 52 degree Callaway Forged, 56 degree Cobra King
Most exciting part about new Zipcore?
Most excited to see how the weight difference affects less then full shots.
What loft would you like?
54 degree
I currently use my PW/AW from my original set of Callaway x22 irons and a 60 degree that I actually won from Cleveland rtx3 year back. I absolutely love the 60 i just havent been able to upgrade the rest of my wedges. If these new wedges are anything like my 60 degree I would finally be able to start dialing in around the green more!! I would love to try a PW in the 48 range or a GW in the 51-53!! Thanks for the opportunity!!
man i would love to be in on this. these wedges are so intriguing. i’m going to keep spending time with my wedges but will be following all the reviews. good luck to all!
Thanks for the opportunity. I look forward to testing feedback from THPers!
What wedges are you currently playing?
Callaway MD5 JAWS 50S, 54S, 60X
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
They have a classic look that I like, and the new grooves and thoughtful sole designs would offer me a wide range of shot making. The zipcore and tech in the design sound good, but I need to touch and feel how that plays in hand to know whether those are meaningful updates. I love wedges — strongest and favorite part of my golf game —and testing these and sharing findings would be a fun and valuable experience with Cleveland, a brand I don’t know very well.
Test preference: 54* mid sole (low sole would be OK for me as well).
what wedges do you currently play?
RTX4 52, 56, 60
What is most exciting about ZipCore?
Interested in the new CG placements and if it yields consistency in the wedge and always love more grooves.
what loft would you like?
52 deg mid bounce
I have the RTX-4, 54° and Callaway JAWS, 58° wedges in my bag currently. I’ve had Cleveland wedges in my setup for the last 5 years and am excited about the new RTX ZipCore center of gravity and the change in feel these clubs are said to have. The 54° wedge is my most versatile club and having something that does well for me 100 out or around the greens is a big test. The RTX-4 is already a beast but could have a better feel on chips and pitches, and I would love to see how the RTX ZipCore compares. I’d go with a 54° low bounce wedge to test.
I currently play Ben Hogan Equalizer wedged 50 and 56.
I am excited about the look of the new Zip Core wedges and anxious to see how they feel and perform.
I would like to try 50, 54, or 56.
Wedges I currently play – Cleveland RTX-4 (50/54/58)
What am I most interested in – a few things, the new grooves with more spin is something I would never say no to, the redistribution of weight, but it would also be good to compare the new DG Spinner shaft against the S400 I have in my current wedges as well
Preferred loft – 54 (this is probably my most used wedge out of those in my bag so it would provide a good comparison)
I play CBX2 54* & Hogan Equalizer 58*
What gets me excited about these is the forgiveness in a smaller wedge and the grooves. I need all the help I can get with spin.
I’d like to try a 58*
This is amazing – the RTX wedges have been amazing for years and they went to the next level this year so I’m excited to see who will get them in hand soon!
I am currently playing a Cleveland RTX-4 Mid bounce 54. I would love the opportunity to test the new ZipCore 54 in a mid bounce option.
As a toe hitter, I’m very excited about the weight movement and want to see how it improves my ball strikes. Also, who doesn’t love fresh wedge grooves?!?!
Wow-I have a 52 which is taylormade z spin, a ping eye SW and for a lob wedge I have a Callaway 58 Mack Daddy – I would love to see the control and feel compared to my other wedges.
currently playing callaway pm grinds
I am curious to see how that head shape will interact with the ball and give any added feel or extra spin.
I would definitely want to try the 60° as thats the club I use the most around the green.
What wedges are you currently playing?
Callaway MD4 and MD Forged wedges. 54, and 58
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
Cleveland has always been one of the best wedge companies in the game for the last 20+ years. This was a wedge that was very much hinted at as “yeah you’re gonna want to try the new wedge when it comes out. It’s really. REALLY. good.” Cleveland had winners in the RTX 3 and 4, I have no doubt the ZipCore will be yet another winner as well.
58 degree for me as far as a loft.
I would want to try a 56, thanks.
What wedges do I currently play- Cleveland RTX4 50, 54, 60 that I was fitted for.
What am I most excited about- Always been a fan of Cleveland and getting fitted for them confirmed my eye for them. Feel like they have always been a top the wedge game and like the idea of the CG being repositioned for more consistent sweet spot hits.
What loft would I like?- I would have to go with the 60* low. Definitely my favorite and most used wedge
Wedges currently in the bag:
Titleist AP2 46, Vokey SM7 52.08F and 58.08M.
Years ago I played the Cleveland 588 Tour Action in a 54 and 60.
I recently tried a 46 deg Cleveland RTX4 on an DG S400 at a Cleveland demo day. What a gem! What interests me is Cleveland’s goal to get more consistency, bring down the flight of ball, and add spin. All of which I find important if I’m looking to replace my stock PW.
If selected I would be interested in a 46 and/or a 52. I appreciate the opportunity! Thank you.
What wedges are you currently playing? Callaway MD 5 Jaws wedges (52, 54 and 56)
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like? I am looking forward to how the weight distribution effects this my wedge game. I would go with the 52 degree.
What wedges are you currently playing? Currently an old 56 degree Maltby which I  but its old and needs replacing
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like? Never gamed a Cleveland club but just the quality of the club and the chance for increased spin and accuracy is something I am excited about!
Current wedges: :cleveland: CBX2 50, RTX4 50/54, :callaway: MD5 56, PM grind 60
Similar to what I said yesterday, I really like the rtx4s but I am really intrigued by the idea of an improved version of that sole as I still have a dig pop up in certain turf conditions. Along with that, if the new tech and weight shift was able to move the sweet spot a bit out towards the toe, that would do nothing but help me.
I think I would most like to test a 54-56 degree in low or mid and see if it can be versatile enough to do it all.
Currently playing Cleveland 54° RTX-3 CB and Callaway SureOut 58°
Besides the beautiful look to the new ZipCore Wedge, I am interested in the better producing spin for around the greens and forgiveness on my full shots into the green.
Testing the 54° wedge would be my preference, as this is my main wedge for both 75-85 yard full shots and chipping around the green.
In the market for new wedges so this is an awesome opportunity, thank you.
Current wedges:
Cleveland 56* RTX 588 Rotex 2.0 & Cleveland 60* 588DSG.
What gets me excited:
Proprietary material that leads to better balance, higher MOI and spin. And I like that it has the classic Cle look. Oh, and grooves with the sharpest edge radius ever? I’m in.
Loft of Choice:
60 degree
What wedges are you currently playing?
Left handed 45* PW and 50* AW that came with my Burner 2.0 irons. <-- They're old and outdated.
Left handed 56* Cleveland CG16 <-- It's old too and outdated What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like? Forgivenes. Modern technology. More sharp grooves. Cleveland rocks! If there's a lefty 52* or 54* lying around, I'll take it:D I'd love to see how these work for a high handicapper with a lousy short game that hits from the wrong side.
This is exciting…
What wedges are you currently playing?
Ben Hogan Equalizer
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
The new groves and the Zip Core bringing that higher MOI.
58° would be my preference.
Thanks for the opportunity!
I am currently playing the MD5 Jaws 48/10 S & 54/12 W or the 54/14 PM Grind.
The combination of the new DG Spinner shaft & the Utilizip grooves is what interests me the most.
I would want to test a 48* or 54* wedge if selected.
This is an awesome opportunity!
What wedges are you currently playing?
Hogan Equalizer 50-54-58 thus far in 2020. I played RTX-4 in 50-54-58 all in Mid-grind for the majority of 2019 season – I loved them in a big way and still have them.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
What excites me most about ZipCore are the UltiZip grooves. I have been a fan of Cleveland/Srixon’s laser milled grooves for many years now, and the curved grooves on the toe of the RTX-4 were a fantastic addition. To have kept these features and improved on them significantly with UltiZip – that just inspires confidence. I can’t wait to try!
Honorable mention to trying out the Zip Core feels and weighting for sure, I am definitely intrigued by the multi-material construction here.
What loft?
54-Mid. I love some V-sole, I loved the mid profile in the RTX-4. Also 54* is a great wedge test loft for me, as I use it for the most complete array of shots – full approaches from the fairway, partial approaches and knockdowns, touch shots around the green, and it is my preferred bunker loft unless I absolutely need more loft.
What wedges are you currently playing? Callaway Mavrik Max AW (48), Ping Glide 54 Wide Sole, Ping Glide 58 Standard Sole
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore The weight redistribution, improved groove design and the latest improvements to a wedge design praised by players as being forgiving, versatile, and easy to hit. Those are the terms I use to describe my Glides, and I’m interested to see whether Cleveland has set the new benchmark in those categories
and what loft would you like? 54 degrees, full (preferred) or mid grind. Those are the best options to do an A/B comparison to what I’m playing now. If 54 isn’t available, I’d like a 58 mid-grind.
What wedges are you currently playing?
Currently playing Sub70 black wedges. They nice wedges but only come in one grind.
What gets you most excited about RTX ZipCore and what loft would you like?
The two things that interest me the most are the head weighting with more forgiveness and the upgraded sole. I’d like to test the 50 as I hit full and partial shots with that wedge which I think would help give people a good variety of feedback on the forum.
