Please note: PING supplied limited information in the form of press release at a very late date for all parts of the G430 line. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause our readers.
Rounding out their new G430 line of golf clubs, PING is offering a robust selection of fairway woods and hybrids. While only incorporating it into the LST version of their 2023 drivers, they have outfitted every fairway wood and hybrid with a new composite crown called “CarbonFly Wrap”, which they believe is “key to more distance and green-holding stopping power.”
G430 Fairway Woods
The illustration above shows the G430 fairway wood’s CarbonFly Wrap composite top, which extends over both the heel and toe sections for a total weight savings of 10g. As expected with this type of design, the weight savings allows a repositioning of that 10g elsewhere in the club head. Specifically, PING chose to position the CG “closer to the force line to maximize ball speed, resulting in higher, longer carries”. The company is also claiming this new design helps produce a sound that its customers will find pleasing. It will be interesting to see if this comes to fruition, as sound issues are a common criticism of PING’s metalwoods.
In addition to CarbonFly Wrap, PING is carrying over two bits of technology they’ve had success with in previous lines. Their maraging steel, variable thickness Facewrap technology is designed to provide faster ball speeds and higher launch angles. In addition, variable roll radius looks to reduce spin on mishits, especially low on the face.
G430 fairway woods will be available in two models, the MAX and the SFT (Straight Flight Technology), the latter of which has a slightly larger head and lighter swing weight to assist with squaring the face. The eight-position adjustable hosel can alter loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std).
Specifications

G430 Hybrids
Integrating the same technology and design concepts as the fairway wood line, the G430 hybrids also utilize the CarbonFly Wrap crown, maraging steel Facewrap, and variable roll radius. While information seems difficult to come by, even on release day, early feedback we’ve heard has been positive, so it may be worth seeking these out.
Available in six different loft options, the hybrids also have an 8-position hosel to adjust loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std).

I actually really like the way that hybrid looks. The fwy doesn’t look bad either, both are better than the driver

Agree that the hybrid looks great.
I liked the shaping of the prior gen line gaming both a hybrid and the sft 5w and agree, they seemed to refine it a bit. I like it
I’ll have to hit a hybrid. I did actually own and play a G425 3 hybrid when they first came out. And a FW actually. I’ll stick with giving the hybrid a go though. I just don’t love the look and shaping of the fairways.
The fairway woods have a great deal more of camber on the sole than the G425. I think people will like a little more rounded bottom look. The G425 was pretty flat

These look pretty decent. Not my favorite, but nicer than i woul have expected. I am always kinda meh about Ping for no real reason. I need to give them a fair shake though.
The look of the crown at address reminds me of another club but i cant quite place it…

I’ve tried to love the hybrids and just don’t get their appeal. Cobra and Callaway both way out preform them for me.
The face on the Ping hybrid has always looked funny to me. I tried hard to love a G425 4H and ended up with a Fli-Hi 4 iron.
I’m bumping this thread for a question. @Hawk When they gave you the info on this release did they mention the HL or “high launch” versions of these clubs? It’s so strange they would create it and not shout about it.
@OldandStiff can you see the face of the hybrid at address? It looks kind of interesting and potentially helpful in setting up the club square. Not that any internet golfer would ever have trouble doing that…

That’s my bad as I should have been more specific – left to right camber as it has a more rounded bottom. So the g425 lies pretty flat on the ground where as the g430 rounds off a little more. Not rapture like round but it’s there. That should in essence help with turf interaction a little more, no?
Am I also just getting old or is the dot not centered on the club face? Maybe this is just a realization that I’m having but is that true on most clubs?
I do like the dot more than an arrow to be honest and I can’t disagree with what anyone else is saying about the looks.
Ive hit all the new models except Titleist hybrids, and these 430s were great. I’ve got two on order with Kaili White 80 shaft at no upcharge.

Can’t remember if it was Crossy or maybe Dan Hendrickson. One of the YouTubers said it was more heelside on the hybrid to help with the toe hooks people complain about on hybrids. Not sure if this was there opinion or if that message came from Ping but remember someone saying it during their review.

Sorry, I haven’t seen anything other than what is now on their website. Maybe there’s a PING demo day nearby sometime soon and you can demo there? I know that HL really helps a segment of players get more distance and control. Definitely worth a look

another thing that is different is the head is the same as the max line but it includes a lighter weight. I am wondering if the demo carts in the shops came with a 2nd head that is weighted lighter or if they at least provided them with the lighter weight to swap in for people wanting to try the HL version. I know the carts definitely have the Alta Quick shafts as I saw them last week at both my local golf shop and at Golf Galaxy. I was able to hit the Alta Quick 45 shaft in the driver and liked it alot.
Hit a bunch of different hybrids yesterday and came away most impressed by the G430. Was hitting a 4H and really liked everything about the club. At setup, the way the face blends into the crown makes it appear to have more loft. It is very confidence inspiring. The feel off the face is just magic, strong and very precise, almost addictive. Most importantly, the numbers, they were just so damn consistent and right on the button what I was look for.
Think I might go pick up the club after work today, had them set it aside for me to ponder.

Hit a couple of the g430 hybrids yesterday. Was looking for a club in the 4i spot. Compared it to a couple of options: steath 2 and paradym. I could play any of those — particularly stealth 2 — but preferred the g430. With the stock shafts I liked the feel and flight with the hzrdus rdx red 80 shaft. Good distance in the stock loft setting— a little longer than 4i — with nice height and spin for control. Looks clean, feels solid. Gives me a confidence boost in that spot in the bag. Not sure why I didn’t go hybrid there sooner. Ordered the 4hy. Will post some numbers when it arrives.
Also hit a 5hy. Seeing more loft is odd, but it was easy to hit with a nice high flight. Keeping 5i, a club I enjoy hitting, but that’s something to ponder over the season.
played my newly acquired G425 LST 3W today…and if the 430 is an improvement, i may have to get one.

I finally got a chance to hit this outside today and it did not disappoint. I really hope more THPers put this on their short list to try. The hybrid is just so easy to hit, it really is a treat. It has made me think about what a 5H might be like. Gonna hold off for now but feel pretty good having that 4H in the bag.
I have been playing a G430 Max 7 wood for a couple months now. A few outdoor rounds, a lot of sim golf. It is incredibly easy to hit, much, much easier to launch on bad arthritis days than any other fairway wood I have ever hit. Since I have decided to keep a 9 wood in the bag this year, I am giving my M6 9 wood to my kid and getting another G430. G425 5 wood is safe……. for now.
I am no Ping fanboy, the 425 Max being the first Ping to ever make it into my bag. But when I went fairway wood shopping the 430 Max beat the stuffing out of the TSR2 in the results game. I really wanted the TSR because it was so good looking and I loved the sound and feel, but the Ping was so much better when alternating shots between them I couldn’t ignore the results.
Picked up a G430 Max 9 wood at Carl’s Golfland today. Didn’t even hit it because I hit one a lot when I got the 7 wood.

I’ve tried every version of them dating back to the “G” and just don’t get along with them. Even on flat setting I still find myself turning them hard left. I don’t have that issue with some other brands. Maybe its my delivery but that they spin to an excessive amount. 4H spinning 7k to carry 190. Just can’t see the appeal in them.
I’d say I’m on the complete polar opposite (at least with the g425/g430). Only hybrids I don’t turn over all the time and highly recommend them.

Sounds like bad fits or it just isn’t your jam. I am the opposite of a Ping homer, the 430 hybrid is the first Ping club in my bag and I am quite fond of it.
But it also sounds like you and I have very different swings, I need to add spin and like a more upright club to keep my fade in check.
Funny how these (and any club for that matter) work for some and not for others. I used to play with G410 hybrids. I never felt really confident with them and found it challenging to fix because my misses were both directions. Late last year I swapped them out for Cleveland XL Halo hybrids. I absolutely love these. For whatever reason, they just work for my game and swing. I’ve never hit a hybrid as accurately before as these.
That said, I picked up a G430 30 degree hybrid last week to give a try. My thinking was that even though I love the Clevelands, the highest loft they have is a 27*. I really wanted a replacement for my 7 iron which is what I thought the G430 30* would provide. I figured that if I liked it, I would trade in my other Clevelands for new G430s. My experience has not been good with the G430s. I’m slicing the crap out of them . I certainly know it’s not the club’s fault, but regardless, I don’t have this problem at all with the Cleveland Halos. I’ve given them 3 rounds and things haven’t gotten better, so… this Ping G430 will find it’s way on eBay shortly.

I’m kind of glad to hear this. I love my Halo Hybrid and Hywood. The 4 hybrid is my security blanket club. But I love my G430 driver so much, I have to admit I was curious about the G430.

Yeah, I would stick with your Clevelands! I just wish Cleveland made a 30* hybrid but maybe they will in their next iteration. The Ping G430 just didn’t work for me at all. I took it out three different times and really wanted to like it. Check out the following pic of my old G410 5 hybrid, G430 and Cleveland.

Not sure if the pic does a great job at capturing this, but they all set up MUCH differently at address. To my eye… the G410 is quite closed, the G430 is the most open, and the Halo is the most square.
The G430, compared to the Cleveland Halo, is slimmer but longer so it appears like the larger hybrid of the two. The Halo is more compact but has a bit more of a chunky appearance. It’s all subjective but I prefer the way the Halo looks at address.
