Please note: PING supplied limited information in the form of press release at a very late date for all parts of the G430 line. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause our readers.
Rounding out their new G430 line of golf clubs, PING is offering a robust selection of fairway woods and hybrids. While only incorporating it into the LST version of their 2023 drivers, they have outfitted every fairway wood and hybrid with a new composite crown called “CarbonFly Wrap”, which they believe is “key to more distance and green-holding stopping power.”
G430 Fairway Woods
The illustration above shows the G430 fairway wood’s CarbonFly Wrap composite top, which extends over both the heel and toe sections for a total weight savings of 10g. As expected with this type of design, the weight savings allows a repositioning of that 10g elsewhere in the club head. Specifically, PING chose to position the CG “closer to the force line to maximize ball speed, resulting in higher, longer carries”. The company is also claiming this new design helps produce a sound that its customers will find pleasing. It will be interesting to see if this comes to fruition, as sound issues are a common criticism of PING’s metalwoods.
In addition to CarbonFly Wrap, PING is carrying over two bits of technology they’ve had success with in previous lines. Their maraging steel, variable thickness Facewrap technology is designed to provide faster ball speeds and higher launch angles. In addition, variable roll radius looks to reduce spin on mishits, especially low on the face.
G430 fairway woods will be available in two models, the MAX and the SFT (Straight Flight Technology), the latter of which has a slightly larger head and lighter swing weight to assist with squaring the face. The eight-position adjustable hosel can alter loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std).

G430 Hybrids
Integrating the same technology and design concepts as the fairway wood line, the G430 hybrids also utilize the CarbonFly Wrap crown, maraging steel Facewrap, and variable roll radius. While information seems difficult to come by, even on release day, early feedback we’ve heard has been positive, so it may be worth seeking these out.
Available in six different loft options, the hybrids also have an 8-position hosel to adjust loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std).

FYI… anyone interested in an almost new G430 6 Hybrid, I just listed it for sale on this board.
This hybrid is stupid easy to hit. Hit a couple shots today that I could not have placed any better. And the flight is just high and towering. Ball jumps off the face and goes straight. I highly encourage folks to hit this, it is a truly a fantastic addition to my bag.

The 425 is the hybrid that I’ve kept the longest in the bag other than PXG Gen 1.
Very accurate out of the woods, a savior … lol … and consistent from other lies. Will demo the 430.

I need to add, I found the key to a good hybrid is a shaft that fits — I’ve not used a stock shaft in a hybrid over the last 15 years. Don’t think I’ve ever used a stock shaft in a Ping Driver, Fwy, or Hybrid in the same timeframe. Ping fairway and hybrids – also not the longest in the past although Ping seems to have improved distance with the 430.

I agree with this statement for hybrids. I don’t do well with off the shelf hybrids. I need a heavier shaft if I’m gonna have any chance.
One of my best shots today was with the 4H from about 204 in a crappy lie. Ball was in the rough and above my feet and I had about 80 yards of lake to cover on the way to the flag. Caught it clean, ball launched high and settled soft about 20 feet left, pin high. It’s a tough green to hold and to do so from that distance out of the rough was awesome. Ping g430 SFT 5 wood is inbound. Tried everything on the market and this one was just automatic
This hybrid still just blows me away. I hit a couple terrible strikes because well, I’m not a professional golfer. Yet there the ball was, pin high, just off the green and manageable. Later on a short par 4 with trouble everywhere, I hit two balls for the practice and you could have literally put a blanket over them 210 out, in the middle of the fairway. By far the most point and shoot club I’ve ever experienced.
Got the 7 wood and now it’s onto the 5 hybrid
7 wood definitely launches higher over the 7wd G400 – but spin is way down – impressed so far
I am toying with adding either a G430 5w or 7w. I really want the loft to be in the 19* range to make it almost like a 6w to blend in with my 3w. I could get either club there. I need to go to the shop and set some up to take a look at them.

You could take the 7w and dial it down to 19.5. I like that it tends to open the face up a bit. The G430 5w is 18* and it would be easy to get it to 19 or 19.5.

You certainly could use the 7, but the 5 has a bit higher MOI due to being a bit larger head. You could also swing the longer club a bit easier.
Just my old fart way of looking at it.
I was fit for a Titleist TSR2 24* hybrid turned up to 26* with a Mitsubishi AV raw blue 70g shaft blah blah lol. I was just given an update that the hybrid won’t won’t be delivered until the end of June, I ordered it 2 weeks ago. I cancelled the order and put in another for a Ping G430 26* hybrid with a stiff HXRDUS Red shaft. Should be delivered in 2 weeks.
I didn’t get fit for this club but everything I’ve read and watched has been awesome. If the shaft doesn’t work for me I’ll get fit for something else as I’m positive this will be great for me. I can hit a 5i very well off of a tee but I’m not consistent enough with it otherwise. I know it’s not exactly a scoring club but I’m a decent chipper so I need to get near the green more often when I’m 190-200 yards out.
This will be my first Ping club but it’ll have a 4H friend if it’s as good as I think since I need to get my son some adult sized clubs now and he can have my TS2 23* which he hits really well
I thought I’d give the fairways a shot after the hybrid has proven to be such a great addition to my bag. Tried it with the Alta CB shaft I use in the hybrid and the Tour Chrome. It pains me to say, I was not a fan. Head felt nothing like the hybrid, just kinda dead. It launched incredibly well with each shaft but I could not find the love. Even hit it back to back with the hybrid and was surprised at the difference.
I just put the 4 and 5 hybrids in the bag. They replaced the Callaway Big Bertha hybrids.
Hoping to add the 5h next week

Yeah, I would stick with your Clevelands! I just wish Cleveland made a 30* hybrid but maybe they will in their next iteration. The Ping G430 just didn’t work for me at all. I took it out three different times and really wanted to like it. Check out the following pic of my old G410 5 hybrid, G430 and Cleveland.

Not sure if the pic does a great job at capturing this, but they all set up MUCH differently at address. To my eye… the G410 is quite closed, the G430 is the most open, and the Halo is the most square.
The G430, compared to the Cleveland Halo, is slimmer but longer so it appears like the larger hybrid of the two. The Halo is more compact but has a bit more of a chunky appearance. It’s all subjective but I prefer the way the Halo looks at address.

I had the chance to hit the G430 hybrid at a demo day yesterday. I wanted to love it, but it just didn’t do it for me. Felt kinda dead and tingy.
It was a tough hill to the club, the Cleveland is just SO good for me. I hit it further, higher and straighter than the PING. I’ve been on the rocks with the Hy-wood, but the 4H is still one of my favorite clubs.

Might be the shaft. The Ping G430 4H feels like a rocket and not metallic in my setup. Now the G425 felt more solid/heavy but still a fine club. The G430, though, in my TPT shaft, feels great.
But good luck with your Cleveland.

I thought my G410 Plus was the easiest hybrid I ever hit. I loved. The head flew off at the driving range one day. I got it repaired…but never really trusted it again. I got another used G410. I took a total flier on the Cleveland because I loved the Hy-wood. You nailed it, it’s an absolute cheat code of a club.

The shaft could definitely be the issue. I’ve liked some Alta shafts in the past, but the version in the 425/430 just feels dead to me. I wanted to love it though, it looks great.
Gotta say, the G430 19 hybrid is LONG and feel fantastic!
Ping hit a home run with these this year.
My take – G430 hybrid are built for distance -definitely Spins less than G425 and you really gotta play around with shafts/hosel settings more so than previous G lineages.
As for feel, sound etc – G430h are muted, just like the fw IMO. Also hate the $ investment- basically 4 bills for head/adapter/grip/shaft/shipping

And I paid $300 extra for a shaft – but that was for the G425, and I kept the shaft going to the G430 Hy. The new head really brought the shaft to even more life … or was it the new head. I agree about lower spin.
Clubs have risen so much in price for various reasons – I will need to keep drivers, fairways for at least 3 seasons, and irons for 4-5 yrs. And by doing so, I don’t think my score will increase by not having the latest and greatest. But I do think going to carbon for Ping is a significant improvement from the previous generation. It’s the significant improvement that matters.
Have any of you here retired your 4/5W for a G430 17* hybrid? I’ll eventually get fit for one but I’m interested in seeing if that can fill that slot for me since I’m much more comfortable hitting a hybrid off of the deck over a fairway wood. I do hit my TSi3 16.5* reallllllly well off of the tee though. It’s a genuine ”safe” club for me when my driver is lost but I want more versatility there
I put the G430 4 and 5 hybrids in play last weekend. The 5 hybrid performed amazingly. I had a solid recovery from a fairway bunker to the middle of the fairway, a down the middle layup on a par 5 and a GIR on a long par 4 with a nice approach shot. Need some more time with the 4 hybrid to get it dialed in. I left one tee shot out right on a par 3 that went too far and ended up in a lateral hazard that had tall grass.

That is a 3 wood too far.
This 4 hybrid continues to be a rockstar in my bag. So easy to hit, just love it. The other day I pulled my drive left and it ended up on the lip of a bunker. Ball was above my feet, left foot was at the top of the bunker lip and rolling into the sand on my practice swings. Had 180 to the tucked back pin with water left and into about a 8-10 mph wind. Figured the distance was right with the launch pad the ball was on. Took a smooth swing and the ball launched into orbit, landed pin high about 6 feet left and rolled out a foot. Could not stop laughing at how ridiculous and awesome that shot was.
Just wish I loved the fairways like I love the hybrid. Hybrid is just ridiculous!

HZRDUS red 80g. Perfect mid to high flight
The Ping G430 22* hybrid has been a revelation. I was struggling with the club in between my 5 wood and 5 iron. The club was either too long or too short for gapping. This Ping hybrid, with the adjustability is giving me 210 yards on a nice, smooth, full swing, which is perfect. However, I can move this club around and flight it. It is very forgiving. Really happy with it after a few rounds.
I love my 26* G430 hybrid. I’ll be getting the 22* next for sure.
Has anyone bought a 3 wood with the idea of maxing out the loft to play it as a 4W?
Has anybody hit the G430 LS 3 wood? If so, what are your thoughts?

Quick thoughts –
I absolutely love it off the tee. Not the most forgiving off the turf, that I’ve hit. I switched between a blue tr and a red tr shaft and struggled getting height from the ground.
On the tee box, it performs almost like a mini driver with the flight, distance and roll out. I was impressed in that regard.
Just came off of 7 rounds in 9 days on hilly courses. The G430 7 and 9 woods were absolute money on long approaches, especially uphill, they landed and stopped really well. . I didn’t miss a green all week with either of them. One shot that really sticks out in my head started with a hooked drive into the adjacent ( and considerably lower) fairway. Pin was 178 yards away and 53′ uphill. I launched the 9 wood, it came down a few yards past the pin and sat 7′ past its pitch mark. No, I didn’t make the putt. Lol
PRO TIP (from a non pro) – the 430 Max 5 wood is kinda incredible….
Surprised there is not more talk about these. The hybrids are fantastic.
