Last year Range Days debuted and the feedback we got was that you wanted to hear more, so it is back, for the 2020 campaign and this time, all about the irons. This series is for those that want to dive deep into the world of equipment, data and design unlike any other video and podcast series out there.
Range Days is not just about showing the data and the swings. In this episode Dan and James break down each strike and explain why the performance you are seeing is taking place and what to expect out of the equipment you are testing.
How does the Cleveland UHX set fare? If you are looking for the most in depth review on the irons, you have come to the right place.

Great watch @Canadan and @Jman! I gave it a like on the YouTube.
Those are some handsome looking irons, and impressive tech – especially on the mis-hits. I also appreciate that you talked so much about sound. I oftentimes think that’s under appreciated in irons but it’s so integral to the overall “feel”.
Looking forward to more!
Can’t thank you guys enough for watching, talking about this, and giving a like on YouTube!!

REALLY glad you enjoyed it my friend. There is a lot of tech for the buck in these, that’sfor sure.
To be honest, I was afraid I would get lost in the weeds with all of this information.I have the attention span of an ant. To the contrary I enjoyed it and was surprised by the numbers. Thanks guys.
Nice Range Day video guys. Some interesting data points for sure, especially on forgiveness/ball speed retention away from the middle of the face laterlly. Pretty damn impressive stuff.
Very informative, well done video review, men. Thanks.

This is a HUGE part about what we are trying to accomplish with our series.
1- break down the club tech in a way that makes sense (the what and why)
2- show some swings
3- talk about what that club is doing on both good and bad
4- see if the numbers work or what kind of variance there is
That it comes out clean enough to be enjoyed is a great thing!
Thanks to everybody that tuned in

I got them in the stock Dynamic Gold DST 98 shafts. I’ve been playing Recoil SMACWRAP 780 ES in my M4 irons, so a bit nervous about the switch.
I took them out today, but only for 9 holes. And to be honest I couldn’t get a great feel for what these can do because I was playing into 19 MPH winds pretty much all 9 holes. The one hole I had to my back was pretty fun with the driver though….LOL.
I do have to say these things just feel fun. The sound was great, they do seem to jump off the face and I was seeing what you guys saw on mishits – not really losing any distance at all. I was trying to keep things low with wind so I didn’t worry too much about ball flight today, but I feel like the DG 98’s might not have my preferred ball flight. It’s too early to tell so I’m going to stick with them for a bit. That said they’ve got an addictive feeling that I makes me want to get back out there tomorrow.
As far as looks go – man I love the looks of these things. Everything about them. The numbering on the sole looks awesome. The graphics on the back. Even the larger top line on the higher irons – doesn’t bother me a bit, if anything makes them look a little meaner.
Going to try and get back out Monday or Tuesday for a full 18. I think we’re going to really enjoy playing golf this year (y)
I liked these previously and I thought this was really well done, definitely made me consider the UHX for a next set of irons

I agree with the package presentation, and it’s surprisingly something we didn’t spend a ton of time on in the video — They did a great job visually.
Finally caught it today, and like I didn’t need a reason to want them any more than I already do…. but thanks guys lol.
I missed it though, what shafts were you using that day, and what are your thoughts on the Miyazaki stock graphite?
Forgiveness? You had me at forgiveness.

I love Miyazaki and wish their presence here in the US was maintained better than it was.
we used the UST Mamiya Recoil 95 in all iron sets.
I rewatched (with a little FW, the video this morning) coffe with you two was fun.Like Savanah and Hoda with golf hats. My first inclination was to not like them bcause I have recently come to love their cousin Srixon. But then it hit me that Cleveland/Srixon have done an awesome job of giving valid reasons to like their clubs based on my game. Also something I love is that the UHX looks like a better players club to me. I like shiney and these look like they belong next to the 585’s.

These would definitely be of consideration with the alternative being mixed srixons… Price and playability are leaning with UHX

Wow, three times!! That’s awesome.
Makes you want to go get on a GCQuad, doesn’t it?!
Maybe it was just me but it seems really hard to find the UHX with the stock graphite shafts in a stiff flex? I could easily find the regular or senior flex, but stiff was like looking for a needle in the haystack.
At the end of the day I’ve contemplated going back to steel anyway so that’s why I bought them that way. If it doesn’t work out I will eventually put Recoils in them.

WOW.
These have moved up the list to the top at this point. Was seriously looking at a couple of different options but between the tech and my love of the company, Still play their woods and wedges. And agree that these would blend perfectly with the CBX2 and full face wedges.
Not sure how these don’t make it in the bag.:love::love:

If you pull the trigger, keep us updated, they’re a really fun set of irons.
This was a great video review and makes me want to find these clubs. I’m looking for some, ok a lot of forgiveness. These sound like they fit what I’m looking for. Plus! They’re cheaper than the Titleist T400’s I’m lusting after.:)

I hear the 4 iron is going to fall off the truck.
This was such a fun listen. Range Days is one of my favorite THP specials, and you guys did an awesome job on the premiere for this season. They UHX are a pretty impressive iron set, and way under the radar. Great job shining the spotlight on them!
I like these in-depth reviews. Irons like UHX are a category of irons I don’t tend to track, and I always wonder if I should be more open to different options. Fun to learn and ponder.
I ordered these too early, LOL. Someone is going to win an awesome set of irons. These are seriously mind-blowing. Getting out again this afternoon.
Waiting to see who got them!
Live stream in a couple of hours and we are giving away a set of these.
:eek::D(y)
I have to say that this iron was my favorite at the True Temper Experience last fall at Hammoch Beach. This was and would still be my first pick. This is a much underrated iron of all time. I have not been able to go out and buy a set, its just not in the budget….need, want and will have
2nd time out with these yesterday afternoon. I got caught behind a tree on a pretty long par 4, 165 yards out. I don’t normally shape shots and I’m not even sure I know what I’m doing in that situation. Regardless, I tried to hook this ball around the tree.
8 iron -middle of the face. Not only did I do it successfully, perfectly skirted around the tree, but I also flew the green. Something I never thought I’d be able to do.
These clubs are fun. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had with new equipment in a really long time.
Other takeaways – the stock DG steel shafts are really good. Not as smooth as my recoils, but they feel pretty good. I may stick with them for a bit.
The V Sole is amazing and needs to be on all my clubs going forward. Turf interaction with these from any lie is so easy. With my M4’s I’d always have one shot a round where I’d hit too far behind the ball and flub it 10/20 yards. These things glide through anything on mishits. I’m sure I’ll have one of my patented flubs, but it seems like it’s harder to achieve.
I cannot recommend these enough to everyone.
What do people think of the stock Miyazaki graphite? Torn between those and Recoil 760/780 smacwrap? My swing has slowed since back surgery so I swing a regulard more than a stiff now.

I have played and like both. The Smacwrap reduces a bit more vibration/feedback. Some people like that and others prefer to have some.
Thanks JB looks like the Recoils have a slighly lower ball flight which might help here in Colorado withthe wind

I can’t comment on the Miyazaki, but I played the 780 SMACWRAP in my M4’s previously and I loved everything abotu them. They were the smoothest shafts I think I’ve ever played and they helped when I was trying to get over some elbow/forearm issues I was having. Less vibration and must easier on my arms.
@Canadan what would you say the biggest “ding” against these irons if there is any. I.e. size, top line, feel

all of the heads, or one specifically?
I hit a shot with UHX 6 Iron last night that has me wanting to play golf 24/7. 178 yards out. No wind. Felt perfect. Somehow I hit a draw. 5 feet from the pin.
These things are silly sometimes. I’ve never felt comfortable with that distance before.

Say long irons and short irons
Well, I think the long irons are remarkable from a distance and quality of strike perspective.
The profile is a bit to take in, but it easily blends into the visual once you’ve hit 20-30 balls.
Can’t say a ton about the short irons because I’ve not spent any time with them, but there’s been some awesome feedback in the UHX thread already about the progession.
Really, I don’t have a ‘basic’ knock on them. Price is solid, profile works, sound is excellent for profile, and people SHOULD be trying them.
So picked up a 5-PW set with Mayazaki’s. Will play a 48 degree CBX2 and a 54 and 58 Full face. Looking forward to hitting them tomorrow
