I will not deny it, I have been waiting quite impatiently to see just where the Srixon and ASICS relationship might go. Here at THP, we knew when it was announced that the potential was significant. While other shoe brands have tried to establish a foothold (sorry, I couldn’t resist) stateside, most don’t have the worldwide brand recognition like ASICS. Anyone who knows anything about shoes knows that their R&D and ability to design a functional and comfortable shoe is among the industries best.
However, these things take time, and while we have seen releases from Srixon and ASICS so far, releases which have been solid, this is perhaps the one that will get many to jump in all the way.
ASICS Gel-Kayano Ace Golf Shoes
The Gel-Kayano Ace is based upon the company’s legendary running shoe staple, the Kayano. With that known, it should be of little surprise that comfort and flexibility are at the top of the list when it comes to design emphasis. The other big focus, however, was taking what the Kayano is known for and melding it into golf, making sure that they also work to provide top tier stability.
The Gel-Kayano Ace shoes are a spikeless design, but with the new ASICS “FG Traction Sole” which puts an aggressive pattern in the right places and combines it with ASICS “GEL” cushioning as well as golf inspired toe and lateral rubber wraps. It is clear that while comfort is what ASICS are known for, they are committed to blending that with the most stable shoe they can create for the shifting and torque driven motion that the feet undergo in the golf swing.
Rounding out the new shoe is blending the ASICS “FlyteFoam” and Gel body for light weight and maximum shock absorption. Likewise, focus has been given to the ankle with padding intent on creating a secure and comfortable fit each time someone wears the Gel-Kayano Ace. Add in a golf necessity of utilizing a thin polyurethane layer to create a waterproof upper, and it seems no stone was left unturned by ASICS.
The Details
The new Asics Gel-Kayano Ace golf shoes from ASICS will officially drop stateside on 4/1/22 and come in with a $169.99 price point. Sizing options will be 7-14 providing options for us on the larger side of the foot spectrum. Color options will be white/midnight, metropolis/gunmetal, glacier-grey/pure-silver, and of course, white/white. More information on these and other Srixon ASICS can be found on their website here.

These are exciting to me. I have had their running shoes off and on for years and always enjoyed them. The sizing is always a hard part. How did the toe box feel @Jman ? That part gets squished sometimes in other shoes but I’ve found these ones to be roomy enough without being loose.
They look like a running shoe as well, less golfy and more understated in my eye, probably a plus for some and a detractor for others.
They have made solid progression with each release. These look really sharp. I will continue using them. I wish they came in wide, that is my only complaint. Great write up.

This is just a release buddy, not a review. I don’t have a pair in hand, or on foot.
That said, I’m going to buy the grey/silver pair when they release. I’m that interested!
They sound very solid but, honestly, the looks don’t do much for me.
I’d sure like to try them. With their 30% discount for Veteran Golf Assoc members, I’m becoming a Srixon guy ??
These look sooooo good! I just bought a pair of Sketchers that are great but may grab a pair of these when available because……well, just because. 😉

The grey/silver pair looks awesome, but I really like ASICS shoes though.
I should have the Grey and Silver pair coming today and I am super excited about them. I have worn the previous releases extensively and they offered some pretty great comfort for walking and these look even better.
Definitely buying these as my new waterproof shoes when they drop. Love my kayona tennis shoes.
I’ve got 4-5 pairs of Asics under the bed right now, they’re one of the most comfortable sneakers that I’ve found.
That said, I’ve been really disappointed with their build quality the last few years. The last two pairs I had fell apart in less than a year with normal day to day use. I am not sure if I’d want to spend that much on a pair of Asics golf shoes given my experiences with their sneakers recently.
As someone wanting to walk more but needed more heel cushioning to pull it off these have my eye.
Pretty good looking releases. I’ll second the toe box issue as that’s the reason I stopped wearing them for running. That white and yellow colorway looks pretty awesome though.
They looks of these are getting better. These remind me of my running shoes and damn were they comfortable on those 20 mile runs and I expect these to be just as comfortable for 18 holes of golf. Still on the fence if I want to jump right in yet…
Thanks for the write up @Jman

Thank you and sorry, I got a bit ahead of myself there. I also liked the grey pair look.
I have the ASICS BOAs. Love the looks of these!
These may be my next white pair of golf shoes.
These look good! Not sure on the white shoes because I can’t keep white shoes clean?
Nice looking shoe. Helpful writeup. I like hearing the partnership R&D context. I could see buying a pair. I need to try them on. Fit is king with me.
These are super comfortable. If you like the running shoe, you are going to love the golf shoe.
I’ll be giving these a shot.

Those are the ones that stand out to me as well
I just got a pair of the Asics Course Glide and have only worn them once so my wife might shoot me if I buy these right now. However, I’ve been wearing their Kayano running shoes for 20+ years and they are fantastic. Next time I need to buy golf shoes these will be at the top of the list.

The looks are there, and having owned Asics in the past, I know they would be great for walking rounds for sure. No doubt they would be comfortable and supportive, they really look so much like their running shoes with some soft spikes
I have been thinking about trying them for a while. I have a couple of friends with the previous model and they say they are extremely comfortable.
Of course these would drop immediately after I bought two pair of Asics golf shoes. lol
I’ve tried the Gel Course Glide and Gel Course Ace on course and they are SUPER comfortable, so I imagine these will be as well. Can’t wait to hear what people think when they get them in hand. Excellent write-up @Jman!

I mean to be fair, Noelle dropped a teaser on Off Course podcast with us.

The second pair of Asics arrived the day before that podcast. I have impeccable timing when it comes to new releases.
Until the Asics golf shoes haven’t really moved me, but I really like the gray/silver and the white/navy pairs and would give them a try for sure.
I’m really digging these. Could easily see them being used for a bunch of walking rounds.
these look really good. but do i REALLY need another shoe?

I’d be in on the yellow sole version
The Gel Kayano is an absolutely wonderful running shoe. It has the ideal blend of support and conditining. If the golf version of the shoe is anything like the running shoe, then it would be worth serious consideration from me.
Ok those look really comfy and the first 2 white pairs I could easily see myself wearing.
I like my daily wear Asics shoes, and these look pretty good. Not sure I need more golf shoes, though. ?
I was wondering if Kayanos were what was being teased on Off Course! Love them sooooo much for running! I can only imagine how comfortable these would be to walk 18 in
Bought a previous version of this spikeless shoe, the first partnership with Srixon, and so much cushion that I could not use it for golf. Sounds like these are better.
I have always liked ASICS shoes when available in wide. I like the grey/silver
I have always liked ASICS shoes when available in wide.
Always wanted to try ASICS
I’ve always wanted to try ASICS golf shoes but they don’t seem to offer wide sizes.
The white/gray combo look good. I like to wear spiked shoes but these might be nice to have as another option.
Interesting play off one of, if not #1, their best selling running shoe. I wasn’t a fan of their running shoe and this doesn’t do anything for me compared to other spikeless shoes
Yes, will be adding a pair of these very soon. Loving my Asics Glide golf shoes. Super comfortable shoes.
I live my Asics Gel Course Boas. Huge fan of the brand as running and everyday shoes as well. Look forward to this release!
A look at the sole and it’s aggressive

From that view, I wouldn’t think that was a golf shoe. That view looks very similar to their running shoes, including the forward flex channels and the split towards the heel
