At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing.
Earlier this year we had all of the details on the new Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X. Based on early feedback in the THP Forum thread, to say they are well liked would be an understatement. We thought it would be fun to get more feedback from others, so today is a chance to sign up to test and review.
We will be selecting 12 golfers and each will receive a half dozen in the ball of their choosing. Your job will be to review the new Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and share your feedback on the THP Forum here. Like all of the forum testing, you must be able to check in frequently to discuss and answer questions.

What ball do you currently play?
Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why?
And I prefer Callaway Chrome Soft because I like a softer feel in golf balls
Was not a fan of prior gen chrome soft and x. Haven’t been able to find chrome soft x locally to put improvements through paces, but would like to.
The combination of distance, feel/sound and control is unmatched imo!
Would choose chromesoft x for sure!
Prefer the Chrome soft for softer feel chipping and putting
I would really like to try the CSX to see if it is suitable for someone with a slower swing speed.

Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why?
Chrome soft for more speed off the tee and longer distance off all clubs in the bag plus a soft feeling ball around the greens
2.) personally I prefer the Chrome Soft X just for the fact that it has a more Firm feel to it compared to a chrome soft. I get a little better distance with the X as well as greater spin for those chip shots to the green. I try not to be superstitious but almost every chip shot I’ve made has been with a chrome soft x. The combination of spin and control I believe make a huge impact on that. I play about 3-4 times a week and I’ve tried many brands.
I was playing the TP5x and TP5 and enjoyed them. Always like trying balls though!
Tried playing the 2016 or so version of the Chrome Soft but was a club shorter with it than other balls. Would be good to see if that’s changed.
I’d go the CSX if selected to test.
Would like to try chromesoft x, I understand this is the best ball Callaway ever made

Not sure in which I would prefer. I actually bought a box of CS yesterday based on @Snickerdog recommendation. I like a soft feel around the greens.
Chrome Soft X as I’m looking for the best
Combo of greenside/approach spin and consistency on flight on all shots. Distance off tee isn’t my highest priority but I will take all I can get! Can’t wait to try these out
What ball do you currently play?
– Bridgestone Tour BX
Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why?
– I prefer the Chrome Soft X. In the past it has worked a little better off the tee and given me more distance and I like the performance around the green. The feedback in the review thread about people getting more iron distance is pretty intriguing also.
I’d be interested in the Chrome Soft X to see how it compares to what I know, like and use.
I prefer callaway chrome soft because it feels like butter off my driver head! So smooth.
What ball do you currently play? Chrome soft and have for years
Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why? Prefer the new Chrome Soft because of the feel and control around the greens. I feel I have much more touch than with pro v1s. I have tried the new chrome soft x
Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why? Chrome Soft due to it being softer and having less spin.
Currently experimenting with the Vice Pro Plus, which I’m enjoying other than the durability. I’d be looking at the CS which I think would suit my game well.
I would be most interested in the Chrome Soft X. I have played the Chrome Soft in the past and I liked it, but the spin control around the greens intrigue me because I am getting more confident playing different shot shapes into greens and different shot types around the green.
I’d prefer the Chrome Soft X for the same reason, believer that distance makes your short game better
I’d love to try the Chrome Soft X as it is likely I closer comparison to the balls I currently use. Also very excited to try the new alignment technology.
I think the Chrome Soft would be the ball for me. I’ve played one a few times, and the feel off the irons is just right for me. Great feel, and great sound. I’d love to give 6 of them a full test!
What ball do you currently play?
Currently play Titleist Pro V1x
Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why?
I would prefer the Chrome Soft as it has a higher forgiveness and a straighter ball flight, so may help with the wayward shots
I’m not 100% sure which, actually – I love softer feel, but I think I’d prefer the Chrome Soft X because I play courses with smaller, elevated greens that put a premium on spin to get up and down.
2 – Chromesoft – Despite having a slightly slower swing speed than recommended, I liked the previous Chromesoft X, but based on the feedback from #TheGrandaddy team and the review thread, I think the new Chromesoft sounds like it could be the better ball for me this time round, so that would be my choice
would love to try the csx because I like a firmer feel and supposedly this year’s has made a significant change to be a little firmer, faster, andsound great.
I prefer the Chromesoft X. It performs better off the tee for me, and is easier to flight down with my irons. I also prefer a slightly firmer ball.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Do you prefer Chrome Soft or Chrome Soft X and Why? I prefer the Chrome Soft as it spends less for me and I find it easier to compress than the X.
I prefer the CSX over the CS because ofthe lower launch and better greenside spin
1. Bridgestone Tour B Rx
2. CSX – who doesn’t want extra yardage off the tee, with maximum consistency throughout the remainder of the bag. Extra yardage means having scoring clubs in my hand with the second shot.
Good luck everyone!
I would prefer Chromesoft X as I love playing Chromesoft and would like to see the difference
Your feedback has been excellent
Preferred: Chrome Soft
I think the Chrome Soft would fit me more as it will have a softer feel than the X which is why I love my current gamer. Its soft but not mushy. Would love to compare the Chrome Soft to my QST
