Cobra Golf took a step that no other major OEM had yet to do back in the fall when they released a full-on 3D printed putter. The Cobra King SuperSport-35 putter had such a unique tech story behind it, which made it stand out against practically every putter that could be found in today’s marketplace. There was so much excitement around this putter and how it was crafted that it left golf fans asking one common question: When is Cobra Golf going to expand this lineup and enter the putter arena? That answer is now. With much excitement, today is the day that Cobra Golf takes that next step and releases not just one putter lineup, but two with their new KING 3D Printed Series and KING Vintage putters.
“We’re extremely excited to launch our new family of 3D printed putters, continuing our partnership with HP, utilizing their Metal Jet Technology to innovate and transform the way golf equipment is manufactured through the use of 3D printing, an extremely effective process in the design and development of our new putter line,” said Jose Miraflor, VP Marketing & Product Architecture, Cobra Golf. “We are extremely excited for golfers to try our new 3D printed putters, while each is unique, they all deliver advanced stability, forgiveness, and roll performance that will make putting easier for golfers of all levels.”
King 3D Printed putters are very eye-popping with a style that is very “techie.” Their looks are not deceiving because there is a lot of technology found in these models. These putters are the fruits of the labor that comes from a multi-year collaboration between Cobra and HP. Making a shift from the Metal Jet 3D Printing that was heavily touted for the SuperSport-35, the focus was pushed to Multi-Jet(Nylon) printing. Cobra engineers can save an incredible amount of weight by creating these intricate nylon cartridges throughout this line. With weight savings from non-traditional locations, discretionary weight can be positioned in areas that allow all 3D Printed Putters to feature extremely high MOI properties. Pairing with the nylon lattices, all of the putters inside this series will feature a multi-material construction that consists of a steel chassis, forged aluminum crown, tungsten weights, and a SIK Face Insert.
SIK Golf makes milled putters that offer Descending Loft Technology. You may recognize the name from the success that Bryson DeChambeau has had with his putter. For both the 3D Printed and Vintage Putters, Cobra partnered with SIK to create an aluminum insert that takes advantage of their DST, not only in weight savings but how these inserts affect the roll of the ball. One of the big stories for both of these putter lines is consistent launch angles, and that is where this insert comes into play. How DST works is the insert is sectioned off horizontally in quarters. The top portion of the putter has 4° of loft, which descends by 1 degree in each section so that the bottom has only 1 degree of loft. Players all have different putter strokes, some with a descending blow (higher contact) and others with an ascending blow (lower touch). When hitting down on the ball with the putter, more loft is needed to get the ball out of its slight depression and rolling quickly. Those who have an ascending strike come into the ball with added loft, therefore taking advantage of the part of the insert that has the lowest amount of loft found on the insert. With the help of this SIK insert, golfers will obtain more consistency in both launch and distance control.
Within the KING 3D Putter family are three main head styles, the GrandSport-35, SuperNova, and Agera. These general shapes won’t come off as anything unseen before, but with the new multi-material aspect to them, they boast higher MOI properties than their main competitors. The GrandSport-35 is the most traditional blade offering of the group, with SuperNova and Agera join the highly competitive mallet market. For those interested in an arm lock putter, the Agera and Grandsport-35 will be available with a 41″ shaft length. Due to that stroke type that comes with an arm lock stroke, the SIK insert had to carry more loft. Therefore, instead of the top section starting at 4° of loft, it will have 7° and descends to 4° at the very bottom.
KING 3D Printed Models and Specs
Price for all KING 3D Printed Putters is $349
When it comes to the Vintage Putters, the build is much more traditional with both its shapes and materials. While there is no 3D printing utilized within these models, we do get a more mainstream look that will cater to those who find the KING 3D Printed models too extreme. Along with the classic shapes comes simple alignment lines and an adjustable weighting system. As mentioned earlier, these putters also have the SIK aluminum insert. Therefore, even if you choose to pass on the 3D models, you are still looking at a putter that still offers consistent launch characteristics.
Cobra’s Vintage putters offer four different shapes, with two neck options for all but the Torino. Before introducing each model, note that the number after each name signifies how much toe hang is present. The Vintage Sport-45 model is Cobra’s take on perhaps the most iconic putter shape of all-time, a plumbers neck anser, which also comes in a Sport-60 model with a slant neck. Torino presents a classic rounded mallet shape, while the Nova models carry a popular fang design. For the final model, the Stingray will suit the golfer looking for the most forgiving member of the Vintage line.
KING Vintage Models and Specs
Price for all KING Vintage Series putters is $249
Both families of the Cobra King Putters will feature a custom Lamkin SinkFit Straight grip, which plays more like a midsize putter grip. Fans of Cobra will undoubtedly recognize that Cobra Connect comes as a stock option for these putters, meaning you can track your putting statistics just as easily as you can with every other club in the Cobra arsenal. Putter shafts have become a more significant part of the conversation in recent years. Cobra has decided to go with a KBS CT Tour Stepless Steel shaft for all of their models, therefore committing to high-end components throughout the entire package.
Cobra Golf has decided that now is the right time to push their innovations to the putter market, and just like many of their offerings, there is one heck of a tech story to be told. These putters should quickly grab some attention between the inclusion of 3D printed parts, a SIK putter insert, and boosted MOI designs. The entire line of putters is available for pre-order today and will hit retail stores on June 4, 2021.

I was ready to throw the Supernova in the pond on hole 7 last time out.
I’m glad I didn’t; much better putting all-around today.

I have noticed that missing out toward the toe with the supernova really loses speed. Ball stays on line but the hollow sound is prominent and putts always end up short.

Well don’t miss your putter on the toe. Duh. 😉

Time for the gate drill!
I got to roll an Agera for about ten minutes Saturday on an indoor putting green. Short putts, long putts, worked extremely well for me. Felt great on all putts. If I needed/wanted to replace my SeeMore, this would be the option I’d choose.
I really am liking my Agera and think I have definitely improved my inside 10ft numbers.
I would say the biggest glaring difference is how well the MOI and Sik face help when putting from off the green. Now I feel absolutely comfortable putting from up to 6-7ft from the edge of the green.

Has anyone changed the grip? The installed grip is rather heavy, creating what I assume is a counterbalance effect. I’m curious if installing a lighter grip has affected your feels much?
This is on my list of todos. The stock grip is ok grip wise, but I’m not in love with the shape. I do know if you change it, you lose a 1/4 inch, so keep that in mind as you’re planning.

Exactly why I went with this one, the hang is a proven fit for me.
I think I’ve finally made proper firm friends with the SuperNova now after battling distance control etc. The feel off the face is absolutely superb, and there have been a few times where I’ve been convinced the putt would come up short but has just kept going and going, like wizardry! If I ever get my alignment issues sorted then I’ll be a halfway decent golfer

Its a great putter. I can’t decide if the face balance is working for me or not. I’m not having a ton of 3 putts but not making a lot of 1 putts either. Slight toe hang is typically what I play but wanted to try the 3D technology and the Grandsport just didn’t do it for me.

that was my experience with the Agera too. Was super confident inside 5 feet. But never felt like I made a ton of putts. 3 putts were very minimal though

Oh totally, has taken a few rounds just to get used to it, completely different roll to my previous gamer so the distance control was all over the place. But seems to be behaving now, much better from longer range although typically my game has gone to shoot within 6 feet!
The Supernova was just made to play in scrambles. Once you can see the line it’s just automatic with how stable of a platform it is for me.
I’m in love with the Stingray. Last two rounds I am starting to get a great feel for it. Still not dropping putts like I am used to, but will say it took me a few rounds to get there. First time playing this type of putter but incredibly happy with the choice. I love how it lines up, and when making adjustments for slope I feel like it is a bit more accurate than my other putters I use.
What happened to me though is at first my misses were just slightly to the right, burning edges. And now I have over compensated for that a bit. I just need to trust my read and put a good roll on it. Averaging 33 putts in the first 4 rounds with it, with a total of five 3 putts. And 4 of those came in the first round I played it. 17 one putts in those 4 rounds also.
Can anyone with an Agera compare the head size to a spider? I’m looking for a different cover but I’m not sure how big I need!
Now I want a MALLET. @Canadan plays a MALLET so I want a MALLET.
MALLET.
Torino putter is playing very well right now. Finished today at 29 putts and 3 birdies so it is keeping me in the match. I am going to adjust from 10g weights to 15g weights as I am leaving most putts short. I like the tempo and stroke I have now so lets see if the 15g weights make a difference. I also have 20g weights if I need more.

I got this cover for my Stingray from Golf Iconic. It surpassed my expectations for a head cover. It was from a series they made, but it looks like you can build your own if thats what you are looking for.

Had a lights out round putting today with the Agera. 32 putts, including a 15 footer for birdie from off the green and FIVE lip outs from first putts from 10-15 ft. or so. No three putts, and the pace of my putts was on point all round. Really couldn’t be happier with this flatstick right now.

The stability of the Agera is incredible.
I feel like the Agera is the easiest putter I have ever owned to start the putt on the line I choose.
This is really saying something since I came from a Spider.

I’m just the same with the SuperNova, I’m just struggling with starting the ball on line currently – user error!
I would say that the distance control issue is now completely sorted out, just took a few rounds as expected to get used to the new weight and feel. Such a stable feeling putter.
Did some tests today with the Torino and adjustable weights. Put the 20g and 15g weights into the putter to see the difference. The 20g definitely felt stout compared to 10g but really no difference with the 10 to 15. I putted around with all configure and the feel off the face was no different.
I then set up some tees and put my metronome on to see how much difference there was with the weights. All using the same type of golf ball and 71 bpm. The tees in 2nd picture I approximated average. 10 to 15 was no big change with 15 going further but 10 to 20 was a big difference. This is a very slow green so will have to see when I get on a faster green what the difference is.

Right now I am missing short so I am going to roll with the 20g weights for my next round. If the putting green is fast I might switch to 15 but I want to see if my miss changes with the different weights in.
Got a little distance control practice in and get the feels back with the new grip. It felt really good to go a touch smaller, back towards the profile I’ve had for over a decade. Old comfort with new tech means dropping bombs this fall.

Do you often switch weights based on green speeds?
No, this was first test on switching weights. I am committed to changing weights in next round. The green I practiced on today was slow and shaggy so if the green is fast for my next round on Sunday I will slow down and try the 15g. Just want to see the difference over a round.
It was like $75 to get these weights so I should at least use them once. :p

Hmmm Team Hackers giving me advice, let me google it. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
My test today was same stroke length and same tempo….you know as much as I can control it. I marked off the stroke length with tees and used my metronome to for tempo. The heavier the putter the longer it went. So with all things being equal and my miss being short I figure give it a shot with the heavier weight. I don’t like changing my tempo going to course to course so this weight trick my help me or just means I have another variable to screw with my head. I originally got the weights to up the swing weight for when I cut the putter down to 33″ but figured it would be a fun test. I figured since I have the weights and some free time might as well try it out. Changing the weights on the putter is a snap and only available on the Vintage putters. No weights for the 3D models.

No espionage here, ha. Seriously curious.
Putter have gotten heavier over time due to greens getting faster, right?
Stock blade anser style putter was 330g or so 30 years ago. Now it’s almost 360g.
First round with the Grandsport 35. The sik face is quite a bit softer compared to the Odyssey 7s I was gaming before. Should be helpful on the fast desert greens down here in PHX. Had my fewest putts per round today according to ARCCOS, and I wasn’t really putting that well while getting used to the new stick.
