2013 THP Invitational Series - Where Would You Like It?

Of course, you had to know that I would echo all the comments about Chicago!

Chicago seems like a perfect place.

First, it is fairly centrally located.
Second, there are two airports for anyone who wanted to fly (including cheap Southwest flights).
Third, Chicagoland is ranked very well as a great golf venue.
Fourth, so many awesome courses. There would be plenty to choose from. It would be a blast.

Chicago definitely should be on the short list.

I'd also agree that Indianapolis is located in a good spot.

Nice thing with Indy, cheap in and out of the airport. And we have plenty of quality golf courses, lots of major interstates lead right into Indy. Plenty of quality family stuff to do to sell the other halves on to making it a weekend.

I would definitely like to be able to make another one of these after Myrtle. I'm hoping there's one around here, or in the NJ area when I'm at home.

See below...
DFW INTERNATIONAL Airport! Direct flights in from almost anywhere and everywhere!
Dallas is a horrible airport. And I've found it to be expensive in and out of there, too. The traffic sucks and the highways are a mess. (well, they were when I lived in TX)
Indianapolis is also an International and cheaper, easy in/out, and Indy IS called the Crossroads of America!

An event in Alabama on one of the RTJ Trail courses would be cool.Destin, Fla. has some great courses. I would come to Greenville for sure.
I REALLY think we'd enjoy the Senator in Prattville, for an RTJ course. It's an LPGA event course, and there's the Judge right there with it for some added fun.

How about the golf course inside of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway?

Wake,
I have to say we would love to do an Invitational in FL. We do have a fear though, it seems that nobody in FL outside of a very select few want to have one. We do the big Ultimate Weekend of Golf there and I think an Invitational would be exceptional during the winter months, but I do fear not getting any participants sadly.

I completely understand the fear, its sad really how small the turnout frequently is. I would hope the turnout would be a little better if we had a definite date months ahead of time. And like I said, I imagine more than a few of our yankee brethren would make the trip down to escape the cold in the winter.

Plus, I'm not sure if you know this or not but there are some pretty decent courses down here. Probably some places to eat you would enjoy as well.

This made me laugh out loud. :D

I think an event down here in Fl in February or so would be awesome. I imagine plenty of people would enjoy coming down for some sunny golf while they are snowed in up north.

This is the exact conversation Wake and I had during our round yesterday. An invitational down here would be awesome, but outside of a handful of folks would the turnout be significant enough? I dont know, but that's where it has to be our job to start making our get-togethers and small outings bigger and bigger, so when we do get the opportunity it will be well attended.

Haha, jerk of jerks.

I would certainly come to an event in Fla. in Jan/Feb. But, I would be concerned that it could take away some possible attendance to the Ultimate Weekend in May. I would come to both, but some probably would not.

Edit: The reverse could also happen. Those planning to attend the event in May might decide to pass on the Invitational in Jan/Feb. making it tough to get enough players.

Indy would be a fun one for sure!

I think a trip out to the far west (CA,OR,WA,BC) seems a big ask so I'd think a good event location could be Vegas/surrounding areas or Phoenix/Scottsdale. Maybe Alberquerque or DFW.

I'm just going to put it out there...people will travel great lengths to attend and participate in the awesomeness.

Trains-planes&automobiles! We can make it happen.

Just from a venue perspective..I would second these.

Maybe one of the courses around the casinos in Tunica, MS would be fun too...THPers and Casinos, what could go wrong?

Tunica/Memphis. I can help arrange before -during-after golf.

Glad to see Tunica pop up so often.

Movember in progress

I'm gonna stand by my Indianapolis Motor Speedway suggestion. Course is called Brickyard Crossing. I think it would be really cool.

I've actually always wanted to play that course. I like the suggestion and I would for sure be up for that one.

I like the idea that others have mentioned regarding Las Vegas. It's close enough to the west coast that you'd get a lot of us CA guys there and it's Vegas! No shortage of great courses and great fun in that area. The only drawback might be the summer temperatures.

I would like to say NY for my buddy Dean. Maybe on LI?

yeah its cool, but Dan and I live in Ohio thats where its at!

Totally agree with vman. Thee are so many amazing courses and values on the RTJ. I think the Judge in Prattville would blow some minds and they have another two great courses (1 of which hosts an LPGA event) on site as well as lodging and a conference center. Oxmoor valley in Birmingham or Auburn would also be fantastic and each course is extremely affordable.

I would love to see one of the Invitationals in the New York City (Tri-State) area; Southern NY, Long Island, Southwest Connecticut or Northern NJ.

Selfishly I would say Wilmington or Raleigh so that its close to me. I would love to have a hand in planning/helping with something close to home. With that said, there are events that are close to me but it just has not worked out for me to attend as of yet. Thank you for even considering some other places from all the members!! FIST BUMP to you JB!!

Old Union in Blairsville Georgia! Beautiful golf course in North Georgia mountains with large driving range, easy to get to, and all the accommodations one would need. Huge parking lot to park the Rangefinder in too :thumb: It would be awesome for any Southeastern outing.

+1. Ole Gray I like the way you ponder!

+1 for Indy, great little big town.

I personally haven't played the Brickyard, so take this was that grain of salt. But I have talked to plenty of people who have played it and all say that its over priced for what you get and that while its in good shape, its nothing special other than the fact that you get to play 4 holes inside the track.

Virginia would be nice, I am down for a 6 hour drive North, South, East or West. Now the 6 hour drive west will get me over the 1st mountain in WV! Damn that state adds way to much time for travel and I am only an hour from WV.
