THP Bridgestone Championship - Live Update Thread

Hey all. The sun set a couple hours ago on our last night in Vegas. It was easy 10-15 degrees hotter today, so the past weekend's temps. were just right. We did some more slots and a bit of shopping in east LV. I've been enjoying the recaps of the awesome weekend we all had. It's gonna be a long day of flights Wed., so I'll just have to rest up and assure you that I'll be jotting down my thoughts of the great time I had with you and get it down here by Friday. And the pics also. Glad you're all home and you too, Michigan Slice. Put down some tobacco for your dad. You all take care.

Anne and I were just laughing about that a little bit ago. I hope she knows I'm completely full of shat and that I think she's an amazingly sweet person!!! I think she took it all in stride too actually.

Yeah, I think she figured that much out, haha! She definitely took it in stride, it was just hilarious, because that was the last thing she was expecting.

Great thread and Great event! Well done everyone - looks like a blast!

Nice HOTD posted and one hell of a golf shot from RadRob!

Friday, 12th hole: "James let me pick up your pink ball for you". 70 yards short on a par 3, I yelled that to him as the group behind us pulled up to the tee. It was my ball after all, we laughed about it.

Rumchata, wow - the stuff that memories are made of.

OE 40 oz....never thought I would have one of those in my hands.

My digestive track is still in disarray...stupid steak.

Yelling obscenities about the 14th hole across a canyon will never be forgotten. Tough effin hole.

Texting with Trisha....priceless.

Dancing on Anne's leg, good times.

Old school rap at the iBar: perfect start to the trip.

I am actually headed to play some golf and end up at a casino today. It will be a huge let down after this weekend. Thanks so much to Josh, Morgan, 441, and Bridgestone for making this happen. I am enjoying the random thoughts so hear goes:

-Mrs. Whozat trash talking Cookie before we even left MN.
-Is there anything better than a Limo ride with Jake and free samples at the liquor stores?
-JB busting my balls because I only had room for a kid sized custard at the Paris breakfast buffet and watch him struggle after one too mank milkshakes a few days later.
-Watching fireman hit on Jake's wife and then have Jake rave about what cool guys they were.
-Doesn't anybody carry a bottle opener on them anymore?
-So much B-stone swag you needed the backpack to get it all home.
-I don't think I have ever seen anyone lip out so many putts in one weekend as 441 but I wouldn't trade you him anyone.
-Getting kicked out of a Boyz 2 Men concert

Minivan keys work quite well as bottle openers, just sayin'

First off I want to say thank you to everyone for making the trip to Vegas. It's already been said many times but you can not find a better group of people than THP people period. Second a huge thank you to Bridgestone Golf and for what they did for everyone who attended, truly over the top. To Mike for all the work he put into this event (and other events) does not go unnoticed and finally to Josh and Morgan, your endless efforts to make each event a special time for everyone involved is what makes THP such a special place and all the friendships that have been made around this great country is a very unique and priceless. Thank you so much for this place and the things you do.
My weekend did not start out so well. When I arrived at the airport and I gave the agent my confirmation for my flight she looked at me with very sorry eyes and said "sir your flight is for tomorrow". I then looked at it and realized what a dumba.. mistake I made. So I just handed her my credit card and took the punishment. Once I arrived and got to the hotel I totally forgot and it and began to enjoy the weekend.
Friday's round with the 8 guys a Painted Desert was such a blast and it was to bad we had to cut it short so we could get back to the swag party. And there was some swag gong on. Those back packs are awesome and it came in handy carrying back the Trophy:D. Hanging out meeting everyone at the bar later that night was so much fun.
Saturday's round, my opening tee shot, well all I can say it will make everyone laugh! Playing with Jman and Milehigh was a total blast. The evening dinner was over the top. I have to say tanks to Morgan and Josh right here for Morgan playing along with a joke with my GF as she told me not to get married while I was in Vegas. Josh let me borrow his ring and I took a picture with my hand and Morgan's rings. I sent it to the GF and had a good laugh with that.
Sunday's round we played with Puttinforbird and Michiganslice and rocked to their jams all day. My partner War Eagle was a complete joy to play all weekend with. I think we both came to Vegas on a mission and we accomplished it. Ryan was totally focused all weekend and he can play some golf. I started off really bad with 3 doubles to start and never once did he waver in his attitude towards what we were trying to do. Every hole he would just say we are OK and kept on his mission. I started to find my game and it all worked out for us. It was such a humbling moment to win as ever player there was genuinely happy for us and congratulated both of us with smiles on each one's face. This will go down as one of my most memorial weekend's in my life and it is all because of great people who make up this THP family. Thank you to everyone involved.

P.S. I called Southwest and told them what happened to my flight and they helped me out with a voucher for future travel with them. Great way to end the weekend!

Personally I loved #14...now #7...That was an evil hole.

Congrats to both War Eagle and threeboysdad on the wins. You both have some shiny new tags under your names and will both be in the HOF shortly.

Where to start after experiencing one of the best weekends of golf ever? First, thanks to Bridgestone, THP, Morgan and JB and Deano for putting together such a sweet golf trip. This will be tough to top, but if I know JB even a little bit he’ll top it again and again in 2014.

Got back home Monday night and was pretty well spent after a fun-filled weekend and long flight back. The wife greeted me with the news that I was expected on the tee in the morning for a round with the boys. Not exactly what I wanted to hear and my heart really wasn’t into it. But, considering we have the last Club tournament this weekend it was probably good to get re-acclimated to mountain golf with Bermuda rough and bent greens and not necessarily the pristine conditions we had at TPC Las Vegas it was necessary. Played awfully, but really didn’t care.

On the other end, when I arrived in LAS on Thursday, the airport was so jammed and so confusing that I left for the return flight 4 hours ahead (4:30 am) just to make sure I had ample time to turn in the car and get through security. Things went so smoothly that I had 3 hours to kill once I got to the gate. Trolled all the bars looking for THPers, but found no one to hang with. It was the low point of my trip.

Rio Las Vegas was a great choice for our hotel and treated me very well from check-in until check-out. LeeAnn at reception set me up in the same room Donne and I would be in when he arrived Friday so that room changes wouldn’t be necessary. Donne (adwillingham) is a great guy as anyone who has met him knows and was great to room with. Hope to play a round with you at one of these soon Donne.

Talk about first class service, TPC Las Vegas leads the list. From the guys who grabbed your bag, to the wait staff in the restaurant, to the professional staff we all received very special treatment. The course was beautiful, tough but fair, greens NOT to my liking, but did I mention it was breathtakingly beautiful?

My practice round Friday with bogeybrain (Jay, and it should be birdiebrain), SHIFTY (Lionel) and Dance_Business (Benji) was so much fun; hilarious at times as we found not only the desert at times, but ravines and gorges into which you dare not venture to retrieve a ball. Jay sports a .5 index I believe and could be scratch or even plus without a lot of effort. SHIFTY got his first THP Outing jitters out of the way on Friday and played really well once the tournament started. If you haven’t met Benji, you are in for a treat when you do. The guy loves life and is infectious to anyone in his presence. You can’t NOT have fun when he’s around. It is a round of golf I will remember for a long time and I get to see bogey, er birdie again in a few weeks in Sarasota.

The actual tournament was a little bit more serious than the other Invitationals, but not overly so. No breakfast balls, a little tougher course set-up, and video on the first tee added to the “pucker factor”. Day 1 Dan (dleavitt39) and I were paired with TripleBogeyTim and C-Mac13 which was a very comfortable pairing. But then, I’ve never had an uncomfortable pairing in a THP event. None of us played our best game, but surprisingly were not out of it at the end of the day—really no team was. Good job on the pairings and format. TBT finally found his driver swing on the back and started bombing drives. Dan and I were pretty good tee to green, but struggled on the greens with 7 or 8 missed birdie chances.

Day 2 we drew RoundersRob and Sydicate559 (EddieG) for our pairing and I really enjoyed these guys also. Rob played very well all day and Eddie got it going too. They were leading for awhile on the scoreboard but, eventually fell to the winners WarEagle and threeboysdad who turned in a great round of golf. Congrats to them.

This is quite long, but a couple more random thoughts please:

Dinner Saturday night was awesome. I was shocked at that ribeye and the prime rib looked great as well.

It never gets old to see old THP friends again and make new ones. I love these events and each time I come home thinking that “this one was special”. If Bridgestone and THP do this again next year and I’m still kicking, I’ll be there. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to Sarasota and my calendar awaits further 2014 announcements.

I am guessing Bridgestone could reload for next years Invitational with the collection of balls in the canyon.

Haha, funny how we struggle differently.

I went -1 on 7 by myself and +4 between scramble and solo on 14. Stupid stupid canyon.

Tons of guys played better on the back where I was exact opposite. That backside just kicked my butt.

I loved 14, hit the fairway both days, now hole 11 thats another story lol

14 was awesome. I hit the fairway both days. 10 tore me up both days.

There was a ridiculous amount of golf balls in that canyon lol. If someone climbed down there they could have filled up everyone's backpack with balls !! I took my drive over the canyon each time , chip on and 2 putt :)

Don't listen to Freddie when he tells you there are plenty more gas stations between your current location and your destination.

Saturday morning: roll up pimp style in the new White Suburban, windows down blaring Olivia Newton-John right up to the driving range. The looks we got were priceless.

Missing photo opportunities at various booths because JB is in PGA show movement mode. He didn't like the comment but us other 3 were laughing our asses off.
