Famous People you've met?

Is it me, or did anyone else get a chuckle out of Dawg Daddy, the consummate Southern Gentleman being called Dude? LOL

No famous golfers for me that I recall

Actors: Christopher Lloyd, John Malkovich
Sports: Guy Lafleur, Andy Moog (related), Lanny McDonald plus a whole boat load of other NHL'rs
Musicians: Dave Navaro and other cast members from "Rock Star: Super Nova" was at a taping of episode in LaLa Land, some of the house band now on "the voice" doing the same. Paul Rodgers (bad company, queen)
Politicians: Pierre Trudeau

Some royalty but can't remember who it was (35+ years ago)

Getting old sucks cause remembering some of these names was hard.

Mine are all outside of the world of golf

The most famous that people around the world would recognise is the late Sir Bobby Robson. I went to the same school as him (albeit a lot of years later) and he came back to the school to sign the football team photo that was hung up in the main hall and all of us who were on the current school team got to meet him and spend time with him. The newspapers turned up as well and we ended up having a picture in the paper - I still have this somewhere along with his autograph that I got which is all kept in his autobiography 'Time on the Grass'
I then got to meet him again years later when I was on a stag weekend in Ireland as the hotel we were staying in also had the junior and senior Ireland football teams staying there, so there were a number of people around including the team players so we got to speak to a number of them
That same weekend, we were in the group of golfers teeing off straight after Neil Lennon (another footballer who went into management) and we spoke a few times on the course when holes ran parallel to each other and we were both in the immediate vicinity, and he then joined us all in the bar later that evening

Other people I have met include a number of British Surperbike racers, such as Ryuichi Kiyonari and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne who I have pictures of with me, then there are various others such as Leon Camier, Tommy Hill, James Ellison to name a few

I have also met John McGuiness a few times as he is a regular attender to support an event that the local police do (so knowing the Sergeant who is responsible for organising it I have had slightly more access than most people)

Golf wise, I wouldn't say I have met anyone in particular, it has only been brief chats at events I have attended

I've heard his name here. But neve associated it with golf related. Sorry, I haven't really bought a new set of clubs in more than a decade. And I still play a set of clubs from the Regan Era

not jabbing , but never heard of him until here . When it comes to clubs I'm way way way out of the loop

And he was making clubs then too. Cleveland golf was founded by Roger Cleveland and he has designed the winningest wedges in the history of golf. Im surprised you have not heard of him though. You were posting about weather in the THP Gauntlet event at Cog Hill and there was TONS of info with him in there.

My brothers and I grew up HUGE Andy Moog fans. My youngest brother's first Bruins jersey was a Moog one, I think he was maybe 8 or 9 at the time. This post wins so hard.

Robert Palmer - "Simply Irresistible" and "Addicted to Love" very funny guy.

My dad met him a fair few times when he was just starting out, my dad was a bouncer at the Batley Variety Club.

I have had the good fortune to serve as the Volunteer Committee Chair for the practice area at Champions, LPGA and Web.com tournaments. So I have had the opportunity to meet many of the participating professionals, especially after they have left the course for the day and hit the practice area. I will always be a fan of Paula Creamer. A friend of mine's daughter is a devoted fan of Ms. Creamer. I mentioned this to Ms. Creamer, so she had me get one of those flags people purchase to get autographs. She wrote a personal message on it to my friend's daughter and signed it. I got it framed and gave it to the daughter. My friend says it is one of her prized possessions. Again, it was Ms. Creamer's suggestion.

In my youth I was a drummer in a local club band. We were the local opening act for Herman and the Hermits, whom we got to meet. Additional, a memory that I will take to the grave, was jamming with the Funk Brothers.

Other than these, I sat next to Brooks Robinson on the Metroliner to NYC, and next to a wrestler, Mr. Perfect on a Northwest flight to Minneapolis.

The only famous person I've met in the golf world is Hale Irwin. I played 3 holes with him at the Grand Opening of a course he designed

On the other hand, when I was in my 20's I was in L.A. I fell into working in films & TV as a stand-in and extra, plus had friends who had Hollywood connections. So here's a list of some people I either worked with, met on the set or met socially:

Bruce Willis, Gene Hackman, Arnold Swarzenegger, Charley Sheen, D.B. Sweeney, Mario Van Peebles, Jane Fonda, Linda Hamilton, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Michael Glaser, Dennis Hopper, Andy Griffith, Jennifer Beals, John Larroquette, Craig Sheffer, Joe Pantoliano, Jeff Fahey, James Tolkan, Fred Dryer, O.J. Simpson, Tony Longo, Tiny Lister, Curtis Armstrong, Ian Abercrombie, David Rasche, Dan Lauria

I got to play with Canadan today...does that count as famous?

Not with that beard all trimmed down, it doesnt.

Golfers I've met:

Played in Buick Open Pro-Ams with Tom Lehman and Jeff Maggert in consecutive years. Both nice guys and very quiet while playing. Met Chip Beck at one of the Buicks, but, didn't get to play with him. NOT a quiet guy and VERY funny--great to be around. Met Chi Chi Rodriguez at Hawks Ridge CC in North Ga. I think he was a friend of the owner/developer. Also met John Daly in Palm Springs when he was just starting out as a pro.

The only actor I've met that I remember is Mickey Rooney. Met him in the club house of Delaware Park Race Track. He was a huge horse racing fan.

Had after dinner drinks and cigars at Augusta National with Steve Winn, Las Vegas hotel and casino magnate. Had an enjoyable evening. Funny thing is I had no idea who he was at the time. Later, I saw him on TV testifying at a Senate hearing on gambling and had that aha! moment. So that's who that was!

Andy's brother (Daryl) is married to my cousin, I met Andy at the wedding held on the golf course. If I recall correctly he was traded to Montreal shortly there after.
