Awaiting LIV contract
If it's a par 4 or 5, 99% chance I'll be reaching for my driver. Unless it's some crazy dog leg or water hazard where I have to play it smart/safe

I'm not normal. I hit the driver more accurately (usually) than I do a FW or Hybrid, and am a short knocker, so I don't have to worry about hitting through many fairways. I find I can vary my distance by choking up on the driver. So, for the most part, I hit driver on every par 4 and 5.
Love that this turned into a pretty solid little golf discussion!
It's something I really need to think about more, play to my numbers, and watch my score drop.
This is a solid piece of advice! I will have to try this.I totally agree Jman, I played my best golf when I played everything to my 8 iron. My teacher at the time had told me to hit 20 balls with each iron to a target and pick the club that I was the most accurate with, after several sessions of doing this the 8 was the strongest and shortly after was my first round in the 60's. I have slowly gotten away from those words of wisdom and this thread serves as a great reminder to stick with the solid fundamentals.
Why not spark a little chatter here eh?
Was thinking about this my last round out, I'm one who falls into the habit of just grabbing for the driver automatically every par 4 and up without giving playing to my numbers enough thought until AFTER the fact. Some of this for me is due to testing, when reviewing a driver its my job to hit that driver, so slowly that bleeds into my general mindset on scoring rounds too...bad for me.
So, how often do you take driver off the tee? Are you a grab it and go no matter what golfer? Or do you play to your numbers and for the second shot with what the hole gives you?
I'm easily at 12/14 Par 4's/5's that I pull driver on my course, and honestly, thats about 2-3 too high.
