Agreed. Apple fritters takes the top spot for me. Followed by regular glazed.

Seems like your home state needs to make better donuts then. or you need to open your mouth less like a dainty one and take a larger bite. :D
 
Boston Cream please. Love me some Jelly too but BC best.

Of the filled ones, absolutely.

I also like the cake type donut dipped in cinnamon sugar...warm if possible.

Next would be a glazed buttermilk cake. A Boston cream is probably the first filled donut I'd pick and it probably doesn't make the top 5. Strawberry and lemon filled would be somewhere farther down the line.

The proper way to eat a Jelly Donut is 2 bites. Not messy
 
The Boston Creme donut is by far and away the best donut.

Referring to the plain glazed part. You can't go wrong with the original, the others wouldn't exist. 1, maybe 2, special donuts in a sitting is all most people eat, but they will eat 6 plain glazed.
 
They are good but I like the chocolate with sprinkles better ;)
 
I am also in the Boston Cream camp. SO much better than any other donut.
 
#1-15 custard/Bavarian cream. Then a lot of simple glazed. Then everything else, then jelly. Sorry.
 
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

In this case, that squirrel is lost and @Canadan is all sorts of correct.
 
Jelly donut is the best if you prefer to wear your food.
