I think that comes down to working with a fitter and determining what is best for the golfer for where they will be playing. I do not subscribe to the theory of "industry standards" for amateur golfers and I think if you spoke with shaft experts from different companies, they would tell you the same thing. In my opinion, this was done as a way of promoting fitting, but the end result getting most "prosumers" to fit themselves.
Thanks, makes perfect sense. I hate the idea of chasing down some "ideal" number when it may not be the best fit for how I play. Sounds like a valuable tool when/if it is used properly.
