Nike Golf Pays Tribute to the Iconic Nike Dunk Shoe with the
Introduction of the Nike Dunk NG

BEAVERTON, Ore. (August 23, 2011) * There will be a familiar iconic
shoe showing up on the feet of Nike Athletes Michelle Wie and Anthony Kim.
Both young athletes will be sporting the new Nike Dunk (NG) Golf shoe.
Wie will debut the colorful shoes at this week¹s Women¹s Canadian Open
and Kim will wear them in the coming weeks on the PGA Tour.

A Nike brand franchise with a wide appeal, the Dunk has history,
heritage, and a consumer cultural connection that Nike Golf respects
and celebrates. The new Nike Dunk NG, which inspires individuality and
personal expression, will now be available for golfers starting January
1, 2012.

Staying true to the original Nike Dunk which was created 25 years ago,
Nike Golf has kept the original last to ensure that the Nike Dunk NG
feels just the same as the Dunks that people have grown to love without
compromising performance for golf. With golf specific spikes on the
outsole and golf specific waterproof leather, the Nike Dunk has been
transformed to perform on the course.

Keeping in line with the strong personality and attitude of the Nike
Dunk, the Nike Dunk NG allows athletes to show their true colors on the
course. The energy of Soar Blue, Safety Orange, Court Green for men
and Spark, Orange Glow and Mint for women allow consumers to have a
bold, athletic look while coordinating with the apparel from the Nike
Golf Sport Collection.

The Nike Dunk NG comes with two sets of shoelaces, allowing athletes to
either accentuate the bright color of the shoe or to opt for
traditional white. With full-grain waterproof leather, the Nike Dunk
NG can battle the elements of poor weather conditions. The Scorpion
Stinger Spikes ensure that traction is not an issue for the Nike Dunk NG.

A TOUCH OF NIKE DUNK HISTORY

The original Nike Dunk was created as a basketball shoe in 1985. After
it was introduced to the world, the Nike Dunk started a commotion when
basketball teams began wearing them to match their uniforms. New to
the scene and already making a lasting impression, the Nike Dunks
enjoyed a widespread following and massive popularity almost instantly.
This new expression of style lasted through the years and Dunks have
become the prized shoes for sneakerheads as well as fashion statements
for anyone looking to add vintage style to their shoe collection. Now
the Nike Dunk enters golf.

Well, since they were going for an exact replica of the old school basketball shoe, then they got it right.

If they were trying to make an attractive golf shoe, they got it wrong.

They look like skate shoes, not sure they really mesh with golf attire, but they look cool!

YES YES YES PLEASE! Have been a longtime fan of the Dunk. Simple, colorful, attracts attention, comfortable. D. ALL OF THE ABOVE. The price is a little high IMO for a casual type shoe. However, these will be on my wish list if available for the public come Christmas time.

EDIT: read closer the availability. Guess they'll go on my Fathers Day wish list...

Not sure about this one, who are they catering too with this shoe?! I love the airforce 1s but not on the links

Finally, I don't have to make my own kicks for the course!

I'd sport the Black/White

i love dunks but im not so sure i'd love them on the course..:confused2:

Not loving these.....just not really my style

pffft....like fat, drunk and stupid is a style

I'd be too focused on not getting these dunks dirty on the course.

I'm sorry, but how do these look golf appropriate?

I just don't understand the intent to casualize the golf attire.. I just can't get on board with it.

LOL! I love how people get so obsessed with the nike shoes

I am a basketball shoe fanatic, and I have never liked the dunks. As golf shoes, they are even worse IMO.

I wear new balance or nike cross trainers to the driving range sometimes and have even played a few rounds in them. I would probably wear these if they came in all white or white and black. Wear what you like, life is too short.

While I agree with some of the ideas behind golf getting to casual, I dont necessarily agree with teh footwear. Without some of these companies putting out different shoes, we would still be stuck wearing nothing but brown and white and black and white saddle shoes from FootJoy and all dressing like Ernie Ells. Ill pass.

The more options the better (imo). Golf can only benefit by having some younger audiences pick up a pair of golf shoes. The major equipment companies need to grow the size of the market if they want to truly grow their businesses. They can only take market share away from each other for so long.

As a sneaker, this is a classic shoe and I'm sure you will get looks (good or bad) while sporting these on the course. The thing is that I'm not sure who these shoes are going to be marketed to?

I agree to an extent.. There is definitely room for improvement of look and style of golf shoes in my opinion, but the changes that have been made suit the game of golf, not a casual style. In fact, my opinion remains fairly consistent with that thought when you consider how I feel about the Ecco line, which really draws a fine line..

This case is different I think. They aren't taking a new, unique idea, and revolutionizing the game or the look. They are taking a non-golf related shoe and slapping spikes on it. I just don't think this look is appropriate for a golf course. Just like I don't think the crocs golf shoes are appropriate.

I like that shoe, kinda. Not too wild about the color selections though.

Yoccos will love those

Yoccos will love those

He'll have them as soon as he can. They look better than his skateboard shoes he had at the outing hehe
