I’m so in, i can miss greens i don’t even have to try to miss them!
Apologies for the silence. I am now traveling for work and have been jet lagged from the trip.
First and foremost, thank you to @JB and @GolferGal. This event was phenomenal, and I am incredibly grateful for the community you have built and what you do for all of us.
Like many have said, Dormie Club is more than just golf. They try beyond hard to make you feel cared for and one of a kind. The service is better than a 5-star resort. Even ordering lunch from the golf cart was amazing and so cool. A few highlights were the cottages, getting a driver fitting before the first round with the new TSR driver (before knowing it was the prize), and just how much everyone wants you to have a blast.
Thank you to BagBoy, especially Craig, and Budget Golf, especially @Ryan_BudgetGolf and @StevenTheeSlinger. I had an absolute blast learning about your companies and diving in with you. You are truly the gold standard for how golf companies should be run. I really value your morals and standards as companies and always want to support businesses like yours. I am a big fan and customer.
To my fellow participants, you all are amazing. Thank you for tolerating my extreme passion for golfing as much as I can.
@Jeff Spicoli – You are the king of carry and a great person! I am already chomping at the bit to play TR with you again. I loved golfing with you, and embarrassingly, I thought your actual name was Jeff Spicoli (facepalm). Thanks @Carolina Dundee for making me realize I do not know any movies.
@FranTheMan – Super great meeting you. I love your photography, and even Craig mentioned using it for ads. Your game is right on the cusp of being a single-digit break 80 regularly player keep it up!
@BigDill – You are the man. I really respect your ability to connect with everyone around you. You’re also a heck of a pine cone golfer. I think there needs to be a youtube series on how to play shots like that.
@Afizzle2100 – I had a blast golfing with you. Really fun to meet someone who has been in the Grandaddy.
@TWright971 and @Steve2100 – I wish we could have had the chance to play together, but it was great meeting you!!!
@Datkison – This week was a blast. Thanks for being there and playing all of the rounds. I hope we can connect locally and hope your back feels better soon. Luckily, we don’t have to play through rain here.
@Golfers Anonymous – Great sharing a cottage with you. Great meeting another Granddaddy guy. After meeting you and @Afizzle2100 , I understand why your team was the team of the people.
@echico – I loved playing with you and when youre on watch out! Hope we can play extra holes sometime soon and this time in sub 2 hours!
@Wholeinone – Partner!!! We did it!! You have a heck of a short game! Man, can you drop a putt!!! Our strategy paid off!! I am so grateful to have been paired up with you. I hope to see you soon and discuss more club building over golf.
@Legalize Mulligans – Awesome meeting you. I really enjoyed getting to know you and your life. I hope we can connect soon on the west coast and preferably in Bandon!
@V14_Heels and @Carolina Dundee – You two are the greatest. I am so glad I could see both of you. I am so lucky we all met at the Dream Foursome.
Lastly, to everyone that followed along- Thank you! After being lucky enough to attend my first THP event last year, I learned how incredible it is to have a live leaderboard and following. This was no exception. It motivated me and makes me love this community even more.
I have about 48 pages to catch up on and a few other threads/reviews I am behind on, so you may see more notifications from me but thank you to everyone again. THP, you are amazing!

Nicely stated. I’ll give you a pass on your lack of knowledge about Jeff Spicoli, the movie character. :ROFLMAO: The movie came out in 1982. I answer to Jeff or John. It doesn’t matter. It was great to meet you and watch your great, consistent play for four rounds. Thank you for organizing the extra rounds. You and @Wholeinone were a great group to play with day one. You guys deserved the victory.
Congrats @BriMac !
Congrats @jfox789 and @Wholeinone !! Love seeing the last couple holes matter.
Those top two scores are still confusing me, like a couple teams “played a different course” or something. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
The course and the entire Dormie experience looks so magical.
Congrats @BriMac for picking the ironically quiet Team Tom Brady!
Just gotta ask…how much are those repair tools with the little flags?

I’m still trying to figure out why you have the Mirror Image pic! ?
This was my first official THP event since 2017. I was shocked and stoked to get my name called for this event. A lot has changed in 5 years and the events are even better than they were before. Getting to participate in this event only increased my desire to play in more experiences.
A huge thank you goes to @JB and @GolferGal for what you have created in this community and making these events happen. Without THP, I am not sure how I would get to play at Dormie Club. Also thank you to our sponsors Bag Boy, Budget Golf and Theragun. Being able to hang and interact with Craig, Ryan, and Steve was very cool for all of us. It is obvious they work for companies that care about their consumers and being part of THP is important to them.
Over the last year or so, I’ve been able to follow along with the other events that have taken place at Dormie Network clubs and everyone has raved about the courses, the food, the accommodations, and the service. You can have the nicest course in the world and the best food, but the if the customer service is poor or the staff gives off the impression the guests are a nuisance it ruins the experience. Of all the things Dormie does right, the most impressive thing is the customer service. Everyone, and I mean, everyone greeted you with a smile on their face and would stop to make sure you had everything you needed and to ask how the stay was going.
The time we had at the Dormie Club flew by and you never feel like you have enough time to talk with everyone.
My biggest regret from the event is not doing a better job of updating, whether it was during the round or recapping at the end of each day. It’s the only way to bring the feel of what’s happening to the forum and thank goodness for @BigDill for carrying the torch for us. I am only halfway through the live event thread, but his updating and posts were incredible. I was trying to update during the front nine of the first day, but the service was so bad I couldn’t tell what was going through and what wasn’t.
Walking Dormie Club was no joke. Between that 18 and the extra round, I walked almost 11 miles the first day.
Thank you to everyone who followed along during the event. It’s a cool feeling knowing there are so many people keeping track of what’s happening. And a big thank you to all of our supporters and to those who picked us to win. Unfortunately, we didn’t have it the first day. The putter let me down and I could never get the speed of the greens right. On the second day we played better and we both were making the putts we missed the first day. We never got it rolling the way we are capable of, but with the run the Tom Brady made on the front nine, I don’t think it would have mattered.
We were paired with @jfox789 and @Wholeinone the first day and they played great. @jfox789 is a great player and never really got himself into any trouble to speak of. @Wholeinone found the fairway every hole and was fantastic around the greens and made clutch putt after clutch putt.
I got to play a lot of rounds with @FranTheMan and had an absolute blast. He was a great partner and bombs it off the tee. We had a great time playing and enjoying Pacificos.
@Afizzle2100 enjoyed our talk at the group dinner Wednesday. You hit the lowest and longest 7i on 1 I have ever seen.
@Steve2100 I am just assuming you are moving to NC, it’s just a matter of where, right?
@Datkison you are the master of guerilla marketing. You had the staff wearing your stickers. Great playing with you
@TWright971 I am not sure there was a nicer guy in the group. I am saying because you are a man with a particular set of skills i never want to cross
@Ryan_BudgetGolf thanks again for the hospitality. I hope you never give up on your dream of giving golf lessons to THPers
@StevenTheeSlinger i should’t have waited until 18 to ask for a putting lesson. You played great and that eagle on 6 was ?
@Legalize Mulligans @Golfers Anonymous wish we could have gotten in a round–all the more reason to make it happen at some point
@echico glad we played at Tobacco Road. Thank you for sponsoring our dinner Wednesday.

Great recap @Jeff Spicoli ! Sounds like a great time with even better people!!
I’ve been thinking and reflecting on how best to talk about this event; it’s hard for me to put into words. I worry that if I write it down then the idea of this ultimate trip will finally be over.
I’ve been playing golf for about 2 years – going to courses near my area in Richmond and not venturing out too much. I’ve played a couple of vacation rounds, but I’ve played them alone. I thought that was how they were supposed to be.
This trip turned that idea on its head. I will now be forever chasing the high of playing at Dormie and the extra rounds at Pine Needles, Mid-Pines, and Tobacco Road. Thank you so much to @JB and @GolferGal for inviting me and setting everything up. Thank you Craig, @Ryan_BudgetGolf, and @StevenTheeSlinger for providing such an incredible event for us golf normies – we really appreciate the time you spent with us, the walkthrough of your brands, and the gifts you gave. Steven and Craig played a hell of a round two.
The Dormie Club and network made a hell of an impression on me; they’re making me want to join their club to play there, Ballyhack, and their other in-network courses. The hospitality was perfect – they were helping me even when I didn’t know I needed to be helped. I have to shoutout Rooster, our caddy on the 2nd day. He asked if we were thirsty and needed anything and called the bartender to meet us on the 3rd tee. It worked out so perfectly it almost felt fake. Rooster was one hell of a character, used to play on the Korn Ferry for something like 17 years. He had some fantastic stories about other tour players, the club, and how he used to play. What an awesome day. The fact that the entire country club doesn’t assign tee times in the afternoon just in case people in the morning want to tee off again in the afternoon is bananas. 72 holes in 2 days, GPS equipped carts with green undulations and Bluetooth dual speakers in the cart as well. All of the details were perfect – it’s these things which will make me remember this place forever.
When I first drove up to the club, a man greeted me by asking if I was FranTheMan. I said, “Yes?” – he replied, “You’re in the right place, put your car in park – it’s time to enjoy your weekend.” He had a golf cart with my name in it ready to go, a bag tag from the Dormie Network which said “FranTheMan”. They bring me to the cabin which has the Golf Network playing on all TVs, a fully stocked bar, and the kicker – my room with my nametag “FranTheMan” on the door. It just didn’t feel real.
There are endless things to talk about – the pro shop, every single meal, the driving range, everything.
@Jeff Spicoli – You were my partner in the tournament and my companion for most of the week. Real talk – you felt like an older brother to me. Talking about family, North Carolina/Virginia and life was just natural. You have this uncanny ability to make friends with anyone you meet; I almost saw you hire a random Dormie employee before we left. Playing with you was awesome – it pushed me to play better. I’ve never felt more in tune with my game than this past week. And not just because I played a lot, but because I tried to emulate some of the things you did on the course. Naturally I am upset that we didn’t win this past week. Just like you I’m extremely competitive, I just wish I would have played a bit better day one. Its not that I’m bitter that @jfox789 and @Wholeinone won; it’s that I want to play them again next week in order to get revenge. I hope we keep in touch and I would love to play with you again in the future. Hope you and your family are well.
@jfox789 – Like others have said, you’re a hell of a player. I tried to find excuses to play with you and Spicoli all week, hoping that the talent would rub off from you all to me. Thanks for setting up the early rounds in Pinehurst. That Tobacco Road round is going to stay with me for a long, long time. Congrats on the win – serendipitous that you actually tried out the TSr the day before the prize was actually announced. The competitive player in me wants to play with you again – maybe another event on here will bring us together. Good luck with all in Santa Barbara.
@Datkison and @echico – I’m glad I was able to meet you in our pre-rounds before the event. I had a ton of fun talking about where we came from, what you’re up to, and of course golf shop talk. I hope to play with you guys again in the future – you made me into a better player.
@Legalize Mulligans – Loved being able to share a room and cabin with you over the week. We bonded over starting golf recently, what golf brands were into, and other things like snowboarding. I feel like we have a lot in common. Good luck with everything in the west coast!
@Steve2100 – Like Bryson, loved sharing a cabin with you and talking with you the final night of the event. It’s nights like those which I have been really enjoying these last couple of years. Drinking a few beers and just talking about what’s going on. I’m sad we didn’t get a chance of playing together I heard and read some awesome and fun stories.
@Wholeinone – Hell of a player. Your short game was top tier. Wish we would have been a bit closer to you but congrats on the win. Good luck with everything back in Ohio and enjoy that new driver!
@BigDill and @Afizzle2100 and @Golfers Anonymous – I regret not being able to play with you guys. Everyone is talking how good of a time they had playing with you. I should have come and hung out for Cards Against Humanity. My excuse being I was so exhausted from 3 straight nights of a shit ton of golf (I should have just powered through). I need your skill on making everyone their time with you.
@TWright971 – I wish we could have played more together. I know we played a few holes with Darren before everyone started falling apart. It’s always great to meet a new friend.
This is something I wont ever forget. My wife has been telling me how different I have been since I’ve been back. I’ve had trips with friends throughout the pandemic, but never a situation where I’m meeting new people. I’m grateful for it – I forgot what it’s like. This is going to kick my ass into high gear in order to make sure I can meet others from this awesome forum in other events. I also encourage everyone else to do the same as well, it’s not something you’ll ever forget.

Great recap and it’s awesome to read about the impact all of this had on you. It’s amazing how this forum brings people together. I totally get what you are saying in that regard. I’m sure there will be another opportunity to get together and share some laughs. It’s difficult sometimes with everything going on, but it was awesome getting to meet you and sharing in the experience with you.
I have about 50 pages of catch up to do. Appreciate all the nice comments from everyone so far but haven’t read them all yet.
I needed a vacation from my vacation by the time I got home. 8.5 rounds in 5 days will do that to you. Basically strained a rib along the spine mid back on Fridays 2nd round. Stopped at that point made it through a round and a half on Sat then suffered through the back nine that afternoon. Canceled my Sunday round. Got home Sunday night and got into Chiropractor Monday morning. Adjusted and recommended rest it for a few days. Should be good as new.
Let’s start with travel day.
I scored with having a friend taking the same flight for work, was able to catch a ride to airport with him. Being a work trip his company is paying for parking so we parked right by terminal which makes it super easy at LAX. He travels a lot so has Diamond status with the airline and checks my bags for me for free. Another first for me, we get to go to the Delta Sky Lounge. You may have seen my breakfast taco earlier in the thread (I didn’t post the waffles I had already scarfed down), they have a Freestyle soda machine so I’m able to get myself some Diet Cherry Dr Pepper, grab some peanuts for the plane and a Grandma’s Choclate Chip cookie. @jfox789 is also on the same flight with me so we text and meet for the first time in the lounge. We’re gonna be spending a lot of time together over the next week. My buddy is sitting in first class so while I’m in the back with the rest of the commoners I do get to board with him so another plus. I told him I need to go with him everytime I fly haha.
@jfox789 and I are seated pretty close to each other so grab a quick pic for the forum and off we go. After landing we go grab our rental and head out to get a little something to eat. We have a bit over an hour to wait for @Legalize Mulligans to land so we can head to Southern Pines for our stay for the rounds pre-event. Anyway he shows up, has to wait a bit for his clubs to come out and we hit the road. It’s about 1:15 drive to our destination and we spend most of it getting to know each other.
@jfox789 has been playing golf for a long time and is a great player. @Legalize Mulligans has been playing about 2 years and is already a single digit handicap. Both of these guys are impressive on the course.
Anyway, back to our tale, we get to the Mid Pines Inn and get settled. We’re on the second floor and the lit putting green is just outside our windows. We meet up with @FranTheMan and head down for some night putting. Some more conversations occur for the next hour or so out there then we all head up to get some sleep. It’s not even midnight and so not even 9pm at home but I’m exhausted. My roomie @echico finally makes it and we chat for a bit and get some sleep for our 730 tee time for Pine Needles in the morning.
First day of school vibes. So much adjustment in straps. Love it. First time to office in a month.

My excuse being I was so exhausted from 3 straight nights of a **** ton of golf (I should have just powered through).

I have the same dream of joining the Dormie Network. I think we all do now. You hit the ball incredibly well. Add in the fact you’ve only been playing for 2 years, it’s really incredible. You’ve got some low scores in your future. Wish I could have stepped up my game more the first day. I am glad we got paired up and had the time to hang out. You are experiencing a big life changing event coming up soon that I had about 10 years ago, so the Mirror Image name rings true there too. There is nothing better than a THP event and it only makes you want to be part of the next one ever more. The people make it special.
You aren’t that far from me, so we will 100% be playing again. We need to get @jfox789 and @Wholeinone back to NC for another match.
Got a package from the Double Ditkas today. Thank you @Steve2100 and @Legalize Mulligans, this is amazing! I’ve had my eye on one of those divot tools since they were first posted on the forum! Have to admit I’m worried my wife will steal both the hat and towel ? and I have the perfect spot for the Ditka bobblehead right behind my Reggie White and Vince Lombardi Funko pops

Jeff or John has been a THP mystery for years now!
Also huge shout out to @Jeff Spicoli for snagging one of these for me! Finally had time to open it and now I’m debating whether I put it on the putter or not.

You are welcome. Wish they had them in a mallet. I think it needs to be gamed.
