Last month the Titleist TSi driver line debuted when it began hitting tour bags and appeared on the USGA conforming list. Today the lineup becomes official with the TSi 2 and TSi 3 drivers and fairway woods.
We have spent the last few weeks testing them in the THP Tech Studio and in this video have a little bit of everything. Since the release is new, we thought it best to cover the gamut in this video rather than just the testing. First up will be Josh Talge, VP of Marketing of Titleist Golf Clubs talking tech and then we move right into the data and break it down for you.
We have a lot more coming on the Titleist TSi drivers and fairway woods in the coming weeks, but after watching this video what are your thoughts?
I feel like that’s a swing a little more in the meat of the curve than my normal one is, and I was impressed what it still produced with this head.
I don’t — cuz then what would I do during the week if I can’t play around other equipment.
Having had a few back surgeries myself I feel the back pain! Glad your still able to get out!
Yes, would say much better. Also has a much different feel coming off the club face. The Ping is more harsh with no feel of compression whereas the tsi2 as much more feel. I would also say the tsi2 was much easier to hit, almost felt like hitting a wedge with no extra effort. The LST with the ventus 6s is a great setup but isn’t nearly as forgiving, At 57 with a ss of about 107, maybe it’s time to think of lighter setup. The ping with the ventus does start to feel a little heavy after a long range session or playing the 4th day in a row. Getting old isn’t for sissies.
Rogue White 130 60X
Hzrdus RDX Black 60 6.5
Tour AD XC-6 X
Tensei AV Raw White 65S
I thought you had the TSi2 on the course and it was going by your LST by 20 yards. What do you think changed? Not being argumentative, just curious. BTW 107 club speed is no joke in your late 50’s. You are still moving the club well, my man.
Looking back at it, I would say that swinging the TSI2 with it being a lighter head compared to the LST, the shaft being about 18 grams lighter than the Ping and it being our 5th day in a row, I think I was just able to get through it faster On that particular day. Today with the lighter shaft and lighter weight in the Ping head, I was up around 107-111 and right around 300 yards consistently. That day on the TPC, according to the S82, I was around 265 on the front with my LST and about 282 on the back. Not sure if the back was aided by elevated tee boxes and/or downhill fairways, jut knew it went longer that day.
Put them head to head today, and the fitter thought I was nuts for considering the change. Just a little $300 shaft change and $29 adjustable weight and was blowing it by the TSI2. I will be the first to admit that the TSI2 feels, sounds and looks sexier than the Ping, but have to stick with performance no matter how I tried to talk myself into the Titleist. Ugly girls need loving too when they can perform. Haha
RDX Black!!!!
Really enjoying the Riptide in the head though, just a great shaft for me with the slower swing speed.
Kind of where I’m leaning. Carried it in my second driver a bunch this year.

That’s pretty
I think this is where the idea for Stealth came from. If you can’t make it look like this yourself, TM will do it for you, and also like it’s hot. Lol
I still love the etching patterns on the face on these, and still daydream about how good it was when I tried it. Such a good driver.
The etching is pretty cool, it does clean up easy with warm soapy water and a toothbrush.
One thing I noticed was that I could shorten by backswing by about 25% and still get almost the same distance and hit it straight about every time. I had one of my best driving days in awhile, just by taking a shorter swing, hitting the sweet spot, and down the middle of the fairway it went. It was nice to feel pretty confident off the tee for a change. I’m going to try to find an 11* TSi2 to demo and see how it does. I think not having to adjust the loft upwards and creating a draw bias would make it even better for me. The driver looks great, feels good, and actually performed pretty well, especially considering it wasn’t exactly set up ideally for me.

And awesome to do ball testing with that head. It’s in such a great sound range.
The TSi3 does have a very distinct sound from what I am used to from the SIM2. I need to get out to the range today for some swings.
Oh I bet. Way different from a SIM2. Probably more normal though.
I do have a Ventus Red 5s inbound for this driver and it should be really fun.
Are we talking shaft weight? Or did you adjust some head weight also?
Time for some shaft testing
Honestly I think they will hold there own, but if the others are hotter/better I would switch if I picked up yardage.
I think properly fit they probably wouldn’t be outside of standard deviation of each other. Tsi are great drivers they just seem “old” now because of all the new releases lol
I’ve put my TSi3 setup against some of the new stuff. It’s done really well. It’s not exactly a stock setup, so it’s not a direct comparison like that. With same-ish shaft there’s been some definite separations, but no more than you’d expect. The big thing for me will be when I have to the new ones dialed in like I have this one. That’s what’ll matter to me. And I’m open to it being beat. I love it, but tech and best fit are always changing.
Good stuff.
On the smash factor thing, I play my 3 partly because that is more consistent for me compared to some. My strike moves around obviously and my miss is center high (occasional heel side miss too). There’s no way that’s not going to affect spin and launch. It gets up more with less spin. What I love about the TSi3 is that it’s not crazy low spin to begin with so those don’t fall out, and I don’t lose much ball speed up there. Some other ones have massive speed drop off for my miss. They focus on the low face speed retention and are always stealing mass from up high and it can be brutal. So for me the smash is pretty consistent and end results are too. And my miss is actually pretty bomb-y out in the real world.
Best thing to do is go hit both side by side and get your #’s. That will give you the best idea of forgiveness and if you can possible pick up any distance.
(hope things have been well for you. )
Thank you my friend. Things are going great. Hope the same for you!!
Well it doesn’t sound like Chris is imagining a big benefit and it’s not like they’re really outdated. The Rogues are good though. Honestly, if I was in a TSi2 I’d be looking at Cobra LTDx for a head to head and see what happens. That would have me curious.
I dropped back a half flex — from Hzrdus black 6.0 to the Kinetixx Velocity D30 — and absolutely love it (once I got accustomed to the unique profile of the Velocity). With the TSi2 head, it is amazingly consistent — and a true fairway-finder.
I haven’t gamed a Callaway driver in a long, long time — it’s a sound thing with me — but I can’t imagine a more consistent driver head than the TSi2. Only way to know is to test them for yourself, side by side.
There was just one that was in excellent shape for sale on here a few days ago when I was browsing. If it fits you the tsi4 is a great head
It’s a 9*. I had a 9* but still hit it with too much spin too often. I was fit into an 8* turned down to 7.25*. There are a handful that pop up every now and then and a few on eBay but the uses prices I came across were almost the same as buying new. It’s just not worth it to me to spend $400+ on something with, in most cases, too much wear and tear.
Agreed, I would have a very hard time buying a used driver unless it was absolutely mint.
