Each year we talk about different goals and it could be anything from breaking 100 to getting to a THP Experience or playing a bucket list course. One thing rarely discussed is breaking those down into micro-goals and discussing what is next.
What is your next goal? Large or small, what is the next thing you are looking towards accomplishing and how are you working to get there?
Have more carefree rounds and producing a PB at the same time.
Travel to other courses and test out the improvements in areas of progress and score. No better way than at a THP event.
Getting out and Tee up with old friends.
Had pb of 83 with 10 scores in 80s …… looking forward to more golf on the cusp of spring ???
Went 36 straight rounds last year into this year without ever breaking 80. Now I very thankfully manage to do it nearly 50% of the time. My average score over my last 20 is 80.6 and it would mean the world to me to bring that average under 80.
I’m perpetually on borrowed time with epidural shots and their limited effectiveness. But I’ll take what I can get.
My thoughts exactly. Once I can flush a shot without thinking I can then work on speed and hitting down into ball.
I have shot level par on both sides of my home course, so I have it in me, I just need to pull it all together at the same time. To get there, I am working on tightening up my bad shots to minimise the impact they have on the next shot, especially off the tee – if I am having a bad day there it usually means I am having to recover from trees or thick rough which then puts pressure on the rest of my game to save par
When I go to the range, every shot has a very specific target, and I am visualising how the result would look on any given hole on my home course – It is very rare I get a large bucket at the range as the smaller number of balls makes me focus more on each shot
The goal that grows me a lifelong golf partnet!
The irons and wedges are really performing well and I‘m excited about that.
My gut feeling is that the stock shaft in my LTDx LS driver is pretty close but I might want to try some other shafts that are pretty popular on this forum.
The shafts in my LTDx 3 wood set @16.5, the LTDx 7 wood set @ 21 and the LTDx 24 degree 5 hybrid are all inspiring less confidence and my gut is telling me to do some tweaking.
Looking forward to meeting a bunch of THPers at the Bourbon Bash and maybe getting a chance to try some of their UST LINQ and Paderson Kinetix shafts.
Goal 2- I’d like to play in the club championship this year, but I don’t think I’ll have the PTO to cover it.
Goal 2b – getting my driver under control so I can actually be a contender in the club championship.
I plan on grabbing a lesson on skillet soon. Probably several. My driver head choice may be hurting me though. I need something more forgiving I think.
Then winning the Goat Cup.
Play more. Practice with greater purpose.
My biggest goal though is to continue getting my kids and wife more involved. My daughter especially seems to be getting in to it and my wife actually took a women’s class this year and I want to help them keep up that fire for the game.
Hit a couple 400+ yard drives.
Rogue Max LS. Do it. DO IT.
I want to.
But I think @PackersGirl is sick of my golf spending (even though she just bought an M7?) she might murder me.
Send me on a golf vacation and I won’t be so upset….
Go for it
Second, get my mental game in check. I’m hard on myself when I have a bad hole and my driver is off.
Third, physically fit to improve my game.
Proceed with other goal to be Sub 10
Mission accomplished ?. I am in the semifinals after some good play the last few days. Tough task ahead as the other remaining semi finalists are all + handicaps, and I am well on the other side of 0. While next weekend will be a very tall task, I am already chalking up the tournament as a victory for me.
Lessons. I want lessons. I just can’t get out of my own way to make that happen.
I’m no exception, and my buddy and I who usually play at least once a week since we took up golf again after a long hiatus have gone from wanting to break 90 in 2015 to now wanting to consistently break 80 in 2022.
I’m knocking on that door, as I have shot one 80, and two 81’s this year. My buddy has already broke 80 several times this year.
The journey is a fun one for me, as the club fitting, lessons, and practice have all helped to narrow it down.
The main goal now is just to continue to improve and learn while striving to get the cap to single digits.
Next year, hopefully will be able to enter more THP travel contests. And hopefully get to one or two unofficial get togethers.
2023 Goals:
How Am I Working to Get There:
Next year I’d like to qualify for the New York State Mid-Am
Same.

Now it’s simply to improve as much as my lessons allow until December, and have fun. Secondary goal is to get in another real round before the weather changes. I’ve got some parenting duties (scout camp weekends etc) that make this time of the year busy.
Handicap us dropping and quite consistently posting mid 80’s rounds now.
Longer term goal is to get handicap down to a 10.
Whatever it may bring.
.
Get my shafts in order. I’m leaning towards returning to lightweight graphite shafts. Test it quickly and make a decision. Be confident in my equipment choices.
Shorten my backswing. I swing slower with a longer swing and load up the shaft so much better when I can keep it from going past parallel and across the line. This is likely the next biggest bang for my buck improvement.
Commit on every shot. I can factor in what I need to factor in quickly. I don’t need to make a decision and grab a club to wait 5 minutes with my club in hand. Time it better so there is minimal waiting to help commit to shots.
Lately I’ve strung together a streak of 74-78, with an odd 88, 80 and 81 in the mix the last 8-10 rounds.
Making 3-4 birdies a round, Just have one or 2 doubles I need to clean up. They are usually caused by either my bunker play or bad lay up’s. Rarely a foul ball.
Several 1-2 under par 9’s in there, so I know I can do it if the body cooperates.
I’ve been a high single digit ( 7-9 ) cap for a long time, maybe 12 years.
Went through a rough patch mentally/emotionally 2019-202, injury during the same period, and Parkinson’s Dx last year.
Meds have helped with movement issues, so most days game is there. Hope to keep it a bay.
If I can break par for 9, I should be able to shoot even or better somewhere.
try to keep emotions in check and not let outside influences bother me, like slow play, noise, etc.
