What piece of equipment, outside of the golf ball or tees of course, would you say golfers go through more than any other? If you said the glove, then you’re right on the mark.
I know I’m one who has historically hesitated to spend the money on the upper tier gloves because with my death grip I can wear through the heel pad section of a palm at a breakneck pace. Besides, even if you don’t wear it out, odds are most of us will sweat through it. How do you solve those problems? For years its been to just buy a cheaper glove you don’t mind essentially ruining in a short time. Well, CaddyDaddy believes they have come up with a solution, and after working with their “Claw” glove design, I have a hard time arguing that.
Quick Take
A golf glove that takes durability to an incomparable level while offering all the grip performance one expects only from leather. It’s an outside the box design that is well worth a closer look. The aesthetics may not be for everyone, but the performance is sure to win over the hesitant.
The Claw Design
CaddyDaddy isn’t new to the golf accessory realm, in fact I reviewed their original glove, the Talon, way back in 2015 for THP here. If you take a look at that design as well as the “Claw” here, you notice the company isn’t just here to offer another generic leather glove like everyone else, instead there is legitimate innovation going on here.
The name of the game here was finding a way to blend maximum breathability with unsacrificed tack through the swing. The breathability solution is obvious, a perforated cloth-based material is always going to offer the most and be a blessing to those with sweaty hands, but it offers no grip. CaddyDaddy had the foresight to think outside the box and closer to the realm of what football does by implementing a silicone material onto the palms of receiver gloves which offer mind-blowing tackiness. Here though, a full palm coating was too much sacrifice of that breathability the company wanted, so instead multiple lines/beads of silicon have been applied across the palm and fingers.
So, what you have is a design with some serious thought going into it. But, as always, what you want to know most is how it performs. Well, lets get to it then!
Form, Fit, and Function
At first, there is a lot going on with the Claw glove and when you take it out of the package it is so different in weight, feel, and look that it is a little odd at first. The branding on the glove is a little aggressive, but this latest redesign based predominantly on THP community feedback has led to a much more palatable look overall. If clean and classic is what you want though, you probably aren’t one who’s willing to try something new and creative like this anyhow, so the aesthetic isn’t your concern. To those stepping out on that ledge and giving them a go, the performance will smooth over any qualms you may have over the look very quickly.
The base material here being all about breathability means it is just as stretchy as it looks. In fact, when putting it on for the first time it reminded me a lot of those knit gloves you used to wear as a child, you know, the ones you are always shocked at how much they will stretch. Because of that, CaddyDaddy does recommend sizing down, for me, I usually wear a large and went medium here instead and it was spot on. Even then, there might be some issues finding that “right” size for you which is why the company offers free size exchanges to put minds at ease. Sizes offered for those wondering range from Cadet Medium all the way up to XL, so there should be something in there for everyone.
With that stretch, my immediate concern was the stitching keeping everything together, and in the end that is what took my glove out of play…more than SEVENTY rounds later. So, with that, my mind is well at ease with the seam durability. When it comes to the material, it is worth mentioning that the back of the hand being a white cloth it will show more dirt than a leather glove as it sort-of clings to it. But, you can actually machine wash these, which I did and with some oxy in the wash it came out as bright white as ever.
As I mentioned, my one glove put on 70+ rounds before meeting its demise, during that time I washed it twice, played in the rain, humidity, cold, all of it. The best part of that? Even to the end, the palm remained as tacky as ever. The beads/lines of silicone are so vastly different from anything else we see in gloves, but it works. Even in a downpour it did its job, not to mention I never had to swap out gloves because of sweat issues. While it may be a little too outside the box for the die-hard traditionalists out there, a $21.95 golf glove that last 3-5 times longer than most other gloves is something that should appeal to many. This is one I have no problem saying is well worth giving it a try.

This past Saturday I walked 18 on a particularly humid day with a leather glove and let’s just say, it wasn’t dry the entire round. The Claw Glove I ordered prior to that round arrived and I used it the last few times out this week. Great glove and I’ll continue to use it going forward. Doesn’t get soaked in sweat, it breathes, fits great and I love the silicone grip. I can tell it’s going to last; I’m constantly replacing the leather gloves I’ve been using because of the wear and tear. Wish I had the Claw Glove for that moist Saturday round.
Would love to see a black version as I tend to prefer black gloves; maybe even some bold colors as well.
Yes, they are machine washable. We recommend cold water and hang drying. OxyClean will also brighten them up,
Great to hear – thanks!
I’ll share black glove pics next week and hope to have them available early October.
A little better when I really crank down on the back strap and take out some of the stretch, suitable for range sessions. Looking forward to comparing the pro model because the palm material is certainly unique.
If you’d like to try a smaller size, please let me know.
They lost that slimey feeling inside and the grip seemed better on the clubs, I also cleaned my grips at the same time as the gloves so that most likely helped a lot also as far as the grip on the club.
I would be interested in new version as I really and not a fan of the synthetic feel of the back of the hand, but it is not a deal breaker and these just do work well in the heat and wetness of Florida in August.
Here’s the first sample of our Pro design. We added synthetic suede fabric and silicone on the index finger and thumb for more padding and grip as well as suede across the hand for more stability. We will start testing samples next week and will provide an update on ETA’s after we put them to the test. Please let me know your thoughts? We will probably retail the Pro at $24.99 but will provide a THP discount when ready to launch.
Here’s the black glove (Same as current design). ETA launch late October.
I think the Pro should solve. The new Pro design will sacrifice a bit of the breathability but should still be better than leather. We’re also working on a more traditional glove with synthetic leather on the top of the hand with our current palm structure.
And I like the looks of the pro model – really interested in testing that out once available, and it seems like $3 more than the original model is very fair. Especially if it holds up several times longer than a regular Cabretta glove.

Sounds perfect. I’ll definitely be ordering a couple pairs to try as soon as they are available!!
Great – thanks! We’ll eventually change the logo on the white gloves to the grey logo too. Just wanted to tone it down a bit based on some of the feedback we’ve received. I’ll be sticking with the full mesh top too as I don’t experience a flex issue and AZ isn’t cooling down anytime soon.
Glad to see this, I was going to come and say that I hope the current style is always continued, white and as breathable as possible. Great glove playing 100 miles south of you.
Also, the glove I got from the grab bags had magnetic metal piece on the wrist, but I was glad to see the glove I ordered direct didn’t. That thing was annoying and I removed it from the first glove, I think it was a good idea not to keep it.
The Pro and black gloves both look great! Glad to hear you’ll be keeping the standard mesh version around, it’s the best summer glove I’ve ever used. ?
The white full mesh glove will always be one of the options. Really excited about expanding the line though. The ball marker is dead to us!
I did take it out of the package when I got it as I was curious about them, and it certainly seems like a very breathable glove. The palm section felt super weird at first because of the silicon ribbing but I could see it being a benefit when the weather turns south, especially during a round. I normally switch over to rain gloves but I would wager you could just keep using the claw without any issue.
That gave me pause as well, but picking right handed player gets you a left hand glove. When checking out, it will also say it explicitly.
Thanks! I know it’s kind of an obvious answer, but just the wording of it was a bit confusing – thanks brother
The Claw may not be right for you if you can only play thin all leather gloves. I often find myself needing a glove at the last minute and will buy whatever on the way to the course. Thicker synthetic gloves are not my preference but I wear them a lot and they do not bother me when playing. If you do not mind a thicker glove then the Claw may be just right for you. I have found my glove for at least the hot summer months and maybe full time.
Bottom line is if you deal with high humidity and club slippage during the swing then the Claw is the answer, the only question is if you can deal with the feel.
I am one of the heathens that never wears a glove but, I won a Claw Daddy in the Mystery Grab Bags and decided to try it out. I must say, I will be wearing a Claw Daddy from now on! Comfortable, cool and, retains good feel!
Question for you, I received a large and find it fits well in all aspects except for the fingers being a little long, would a med. or cadet size eliminate that issue?
Thank you!
Big thanks @Rod Dunlap , ordered and shipping to Maine! ?

1) I got a large, concerned that it would be ‘too big’ based on other member’s feedback. It fits perfectly. Like a glove even Had I not gone large as I usually do, I wouldn’t be able to wear it. I think if their earlier versions ran small, that’s been resolved.
2) Damn this thing is ‘grippy’. I really like the feel of it. I am a big fan of the Hirzl glove as it has a similar feel.
3) One unique feature that I haven’t seen others mention is the ‘cutout’ on the left edge of the glove at the wrist. I assume this is to ensure there’s no restriction in movement during a swing. I don’t have an opinion on that aspect, but I’ve never had a glove with a ‘cutout’ of any kind, so interested to see if that is a helpful feature.
Look forward to my next round with this.
Please hit me up on email and we’ll send out a medium to see which fits better.
At that point I have to switch to a conventional leather glove but the next day the Claw Daddy is ready to go again until sweat gets on the silicone, a little frustrating.
I really want to like this glove, who wouldn’t want a glove that lasts 60 rounds? However, on course use is relegated for cooler temps.
Maybe throw it in the washing machine to see if something got into the glove material that’s causing it? I’ve used mine all summer in 100+ degree temps where I’m sweating so much I look like I was in a wet t-shirt contest by the end of the round, and have never experienced that. Two of the guys in my regular golf group have bought the Caddy Daddy gloves after seeing mine, playing in the same desert summer conditions, and neither of them have complained of it either.
I’ve thrown it in the washer a number of times and air dried it. It’s great until it gets sweaty, at which time I can’t seem to get the grip surface tacky, it just stays oily until it eventually does dry. By then I’ve had to switch to a leather glove. I was able to go an entire range session when we had an unsually cool day last week. I’m sure I’ll get great usage from it in the fall and colder months.
Similar experience with my second order. 1st order stayed stoopid grippy and wore out in other places (around thumb an wrist area) before grip or standard spot shown any wear.
The 2nd order was new style without ball mark and I ordered medium cadet instead of small (thinking the smaller glove was why I got the wore out spots in 1st batch). 1st glove was fine for a couple rounds then I played early morning with lots of dew. Once it got wet it stayed slippery and each following round the same happened after a few holes. 2nd glove from 2bd batch exact same.
I do love them so I’ll go back to cadet next order and see if somehow it rectifies the problem.
I really like the concept and potential value but I’m hesitant to try another especially if you’ve had the same issue with two gloves.
Rod…any tips or ideas on how to dry the tacky surface once it gets wet? Towel doesn’t seem to work? Are there any leftovers from the first version?
This is wild to me, I’ve played both versions in the middle of the summer heat for 2-3 rounds a day at times and not lost tack. I’m a sweater by nature and never had a situation come up where the palm of the grip got slick. You guys must take sweating to the next level
Lol…I don’t think I sweat anymore than the next guy? Sucks cause I really like the glove before it gets wet and so many people say it stays tacky no matter how wet it gets???
I’d actually like to try one from the first version to see if we just got a bad batch.
Not sure why you’re experiencing this. The pattern, materials and silicone have not changed from our 1st to 2nd generation gloves. I just used a spray bottle and soaked a few of my club grips and the palm of both gloves and I have no issues with grip whatsoever after I wipe down the grip a bit with a towel.
Please let me know what grips you have on your clubs as I’d like to do some testing. Thanks
Not sure what the oily finish is as I haven’t heard of this issue. Is it possible the glove came in contact with sunscreen? We will buy the grips you have and run some tests as I haven’t been able to reproduce what you’re experiencing. Thanks
I love the way you stand behind your products Rod. I had sunscreen get on one glove and some dish detergent and warm water solved it for me.
Hi Rod…it’s golf pride z grips on my woods and Lamkin z5 in my irons. It’s not so much the grips as the silicone ribs. Once it’s wet I can’t dry them off with a towel, it’s like they have a residue or something makes it slippery. I don’t use sunscreen so I’m not sure what it could be. I’ve washed it in my washing machine several times because the backing gets dirty but I’ll try degreasing dish soap in he sink next or I’d be happy to send you this glove for testing. I do appreciate the work and passion you have for your products !
Very strange to me also. I sweat like crazy in this 100+ heat, and also often have damp grips from setting them down in the wet rough in the morning – never felt any oily residue or lost the tacky feel on the grips, and I’ve used 3 different Caddy Daddy gloves – one original and two of the newer model.
