If you want to stick in the current golf industry, evolution is an absolute must, and though there were some bumpy waters initially with the reboot of Ben Hogan Golf, the past two years have shown them finding their stride. Not only that, they are doing it while continuing to be a direct to consumer company allowing them to cut the overheads other companies face, but it definitely helps to have the Ben Hogan name recognition to navigate those waters.
Even in its heyday, Hogan was never afraid to innovate and evolve their offerings in order to fit the needs of golfers and make the game more enjoyable. No such club design is more of an example of that then the hybrid. Though known historically as an iron company, people oft forget they have produced hybrids before this latest incarnation, in fact, the CFT still maintains cult-like followings in some circles.
More recently, the VKTR hybrid, which was introduced in January of 2016, has had a long and successful shelf life for Hogan, remarkably successful in fact. Fast forward to present day and Ben Hogan Golf is introducing the VKTR+.
So no, the name may not be the most groundbreaking, but when you have something that works then why not run with it? Hogan is actually calling the VKTR+ an “optimized” version of the original brought up to present day tech standards.
The look still features the high/square toe shape on the face which ideally helps the user swing it like and iron rather than a fairway. Likewise, Hogan has worked to optimize the face thickness both vertically and horizontally to offer forgiveness while also implementing bulge and roll which is usually reserved for fairways. The company is also touting this iteration as being based on clean lines, minimal offset, and a look that will inspire confidence behind the ball. The VKTR+ will come in three loft options, 18°, 22°, and 26° as well as a very palatable $140.00 price tag.
More info will be coming soon on THP, but until then, be sure to comment below and let us know exactly what you think of the new VKTR+.
These look amazing, and if they perform as well as the last ones. That’s coming from a guy who was anti-hybrid before the Hogan Experience!
Ooh… don’t put information on unreleased clubs on their public web servers until it’s time to release it. Keep it on a non production webserver and push it to production when it’s ready. That will help keep the cat in the bag longer
But the club look pretty cool. I wonder if it would have a place in my bag and what it would replace.
I’m curious about this as well, to me it looks really close to the same size.
Tyler, I think you forgot a few letters in your response… didn’t you mean "JBuck31"???
What I keep thinking about it how good it looks. It’s a beautiful piece of equipment.
Is a picture of the headcover available or does it wear a mask like the rest of us.

Yep, I love the looks of these and I have 3 818 H2’s. I need to hit one all of these when I upgrade next.
You just made my day, my man. Thank you!
Love the looks of this I know this will match well with my Ptx pro/icon combo set.
I usually play 20 degree in my hybo but don’t mind the idea of 18. Should make good gapping for my set.
is there any chance different lifts will be coming?
For starters, they don’t whistle
For those who don’t understand, I was part of the original VKTR test group and some other tester’s said that the club whistled during their swing process. No specific tune, just a whistle.!!!
I kinda like the whistle! Let’s me know the clubface is square!?
Maybe it’s my mind playing a trick on me, but I thought I heard a "faint" whistle?!
full control hybrid with decent distance, great forgiveness and you get some serious iron replacement here.
I have the 3 and the 5 here and both are just so good. Very small profile for a hybrid and as many companies have gone pure low spin distance this remains a great iron replacement.
i think I need this in 3 and 4
It’s darn solid and a good improvement over the original
The others you mention are going to offer a bit lore forgiveness.
First I love the way this sets up at address. A bit unique with the high square toe but it works. I’m also really liking the way it sounds.
So far I’ve had a few shots that stand out to me. Both holes 9 and 18 at my course are demanding tee shots. Something in the 200 to 220 range works best and there is a small window that leaves you a good angle for your approach. Oh yeah, water left on both holes.
This is all relevant because I depend on my hybrid for both of these tee shots. If it can’t do the job here that’s a big problem. Happy to report I’m 3/3 so far with this baby. It’s just such a nice controllable flight with a smooth swing.
The hybrids themselves look great. Kind of tall for a hybrid, but still on the smaller side overall. Clean, frames the ball nicely.
agree on the look, they look great. very iron replacement hybrids. Which is what they should be, IMO.
I think I’ve still only hit one shot with it so TBD. the lack of elevation is a bit of a worry, so will have to keep an eye on it.
Swing it like an iron!
? Thanks, going to give it a shot!
Off the deck I do agree that they aren’t the easiest to elevate. Not sure if that’s the club or the fact that I’m only working with 18*. On really good swings I get a nice flight, but anything less and it’s low and left.
The tee shot I hit on 18 is worth mentioning though. It was a smoked baby draw which PERFECTLY fits the shape you need if you want a good look at your approach. I can honestly say I was in the best position I’ve ever been on this hole. Not many sane people would try to thread the ball into the location I ended up in. I’m starting to really gain confidence with this club off the tee.
I’d love to see a full-size fairway wood model with those same lofts and spacings.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Launch high and land soft at a little over 200yds is a pretty useful shot.
Anything in particular you’re struggling with? It’s frustrating that I can’t seem to figure this club out and I’m wondering if it could possibly be the shaft.
I can’t seem to get the ball elevated. A better ball striker with a faster swing may fare better but I am struggling for sure.
We’re in the same boat, but for me it’s likely the ball striking and not the speed. In the right hands, I think these could be great. They check a lot of boxes in looks, profile, and feel for a hybrid.
