adidas Golf Brings Incredibly Light adizero Footwear Line To Golf

New adizero Footwear Delivers Ultra-Light Performance to Help Golfers Finish Strong

Carlsbad, CA (January 3, 2013) – adidas Golf, an industry leader in innovative, technologically advanced high-performance footwear, has announced the release of the new adizero golf footwear collection. Revolutionizing the fit, feel and shape of adidas Golf footwear, the new adizero line has been specially built on the principle that you start with zero and add only what is essential to perform, and deliver everything a golfer needs to finish strong when it’s needed the most.

“I’m always looking to add comfort and lightweight elements to my game, rounds on the course get long and it’s vital to have footwear that helps you perform,” says 8-time PGA Tour and 18 European Tour champion, Sergio Garcia, “the adizero golf shoe gives me the tools to stay light on my feet and feel closer to the ground through each step and swing.”

Available in four colorways beginning January 24, 2013, with the lightest model weighing in at only 10.6 ounces, the adizero Tour is 38% lighter than the TOUR360 ATV and touts adidas Golf’s thinnest outsole ever at 1.2mm. It’s specially-designed with ultra-light materials to deliver tour-proven performance without sacrificing stability. The key is a new anatomical last and revolutionary SPRINTFRAME™ outsole that significantly reduces shoe weight while maintaining comfort and returning energy to each stride. The SPRINTWEB™ internal TPU layer provides unrivaled upper support during lateral movements, and a new microfiber leather SPRINTSKIN™ ensures a consistent fit with no water uptake and long lasting durability.

“adidas has set a company-wide mission to be radically light in every athletic category, and we are excited to announce we have delivered on that mission to the sport of golf, “ said Bill Price, Vice President of adidas Golf Footwear. “By using only what was absolutely essential in adizero, we are able to give golfers superior fit, super-lightweight comfort, and natural stability that results in less fatigue and more energy savings at the end of each round.”

Available in four colorways: RUNNING WHITE / BLACK / VIVID YELLOW, BLACK / WHITE / BLACK, RUNNING WHITE / BLACK / DK. SILVER MET., LIGHT GREY / RUNNING WHITE / GRAPHITE carrying a MSRP of $180 USD.

For women, adidas Golf is releasing an adizero Tour model with a 6-cleat outsole at only 9.2 ounces, claiming the title as the lightest cleated women’s tour shoe we’ve ever created. Utilizing the revolutionary weight-saving technologies from the men’s adizero, the women’s version incorporates a sleek, sporty and feminine design that overall, helps reduce fatigue down the stretch.

Offered in three colorways: BLACK / DK. SILVER METALLIC / PASSIONFRUIT, RUNNING WHITE / RUNNING WHITE / PASSIONFRUIT, and METALLIC SILVER / RUNNING WHITE / COAL with a MSRP: $120

Also available is adizero Sport, an ultra-responsive golf shoe built on the famed adidas SUPERNOVA running last for super lightweight comfort and a sneaker-like feel. I think the ones without the yellow will look really sharp. A lighter shoe is a great thing.

As a walker, I really like the lighter shoe offering and I am digging the athletic look. Looking forward to seeing the photos of the other options as well.

Ooooh. I like those quite a bit. Yellow is not my style. Cant wait to see the other colors.

In this colourway, they look just like my Adidas soccer cleats.

I was always an Adidas supporter in footwear, but they're styling recently is pushing me away. I want a mix of style and technology. The technology is there, but the styling is not for me.

They've sort of lost me in the last year or so as well. I'd like to see this one in another color before I decide though.

An all white might be okay. I just hope they don't go white/(replace yellow with other colours only).

When I saw the catalogue earlier in 2011, I didn't notice the other colourways. Really should have taken a closer look.

The first thing I thought when I saw them was soccer cleats as well. Not sure I am a fan of these. I own the 360s and the crossflex and love them both. I think Adidas does a great job with quality and comfort but for me this style missed the mark.

.......and I'm gone.

I love adidas shoes. 4 of the 5 pairs of shoes I own are adidas. I like the looks of these and cant wait to see more colors!

Thanks cookie. I don't really love any of them. I'm sure they will be a great show but that's something that I need to excite me before I will plunk down money for them.

I agree War. I am terrible at matching apparel to shoes but those really popped out to me.

I really liked last year's adizero offering. These? Not so much. I love adidas golf shoes, but will be sitting these out for sure.

I could handle these. God I'm boring, but I don't care.

War,
I agree with you. That is the pair that jumped out at me.

Just a great look. Could pair those colors with just about anything.

I generally agree that these aren't the best-looking shoes adidas has ever made, but I have to say that I'm really digging the grey ones. I don't know of any other company doing a grey shoe aside from the TRUE Sensei. Plus it fits well with all the other grey stuff that adidas has released.

Also, unlike in years past, adidas now has a good roster of shoes, so I don't mind them trying something new. They didn't replace anything - aside from the Samba Golf, which is a shame - so at least everyone can still get their hands on more traditional-looking adidas stuff.

Light and walking 18 holes is never a bad combination. I don't know what I think of the yellow, but I can't wait to see the other colors.

Migs,
Callaway did a gray shoe with the Del Mars as well.

Look up and you will see other colors. :D

I am digging the black/white and the white/gray pairs.

Love(d) the specs and look...until I got to the price. Unfortunately $180 is a bit steep for my budget, I'll certainly be trolling the clearance ranc and coupon thread come the end of next summer for these though!

They look like Soccer Cleats. I like the AMP Cell's better, but these are a good second.
