The "Getting to know you" thread

This thread is awesome! I'll say hello!

My name is Won aka Wonton. People think I say Juan and get confused because obviously I don't look hispanic.
I was born in Seoul, S. Korea and came here with my parents and my brother 20 years ago (actually 5/1/93) Tomorrow! I feel that I'm more of an American than Korean just a fact that I've been here 2/3 of my life and where I live, there aren't a whole lot of Koreans. (still proud of my heritage)
I am 30 years old. Single (have been for a few years now :arrogant: If you know any ladies who has the "Yellow Fever", send em my way!) I'm getting pressure from my parents everyday that they want a grandchild. I'm not in a big rush though...
I am a big sports guy as well. I love my defending Champs, LA Kings! (I have been since 93. No bandwagoning here!) LA Dodgers, Manchester United, Celtics and the Red Sox.
I've been playing golf since Fall of 09'. I'm still a 15 Handicap and no sign of getting better! hahaha
I'm a Corporate Recruiter for Harbor Freight Tools and enjoy helping people find jobs in this economy.
I have a beard (kinda). The ONLY asian guy with one. (we're genetically challenged)
On my off time, I love cooking, playing the guitar (last 16 years) and building golf clubs for friends and myself.
I do have a love of my life. My dog, Lacey. The only Blonde I've ever loved!
And Yes. I know the Gangnam Style.

My name is Frank. This is me with my wife (Wendy), kids (Michael & Natalie) and dog (Riley) last summer at Mt. Adams:

My family is pretty much the center of my universe. I coach the kid's basketball teams, help with their little league teams, serve as an EM at church, volunteer at their school and on the homeowners association board, and work as a Systems Analyst at a large insurance company (if your employer provides Life, Dental or Disability insurance there's a good chance you know my company).

I consider myself extraordinarily blessed to have found someone that puts up with all of my cr@p and miraculously finds it desirable to be my wife. Go figure. I met Wendy on a rafting trip on the Deschutes river. Miracle of miracles, she waited about 8 or 9 years for me to step up to the plate. We have been together ever since, more than 20 years. Talk about marrying up and winning the Life Lottery.

That rafting trip turned out to be prophetic. We love the outdoors. Pre-kids we were pretty serious backpackers, doing multi-day trips into some of the most beautiful country you could ever hope to see. I knew Wendy was a keeper after our first backpacking trip. We got lost in the woods and after taking a pretty nasty fall she never complained but simply said "I'm not having fun anymore." When I realized she wasn't hurt I laughed at that one. Post kids we have traded the backpacks for a tent trailer and spend a whole bunch of the summer camping around this great state of ours. I love that our kids have developed a love of the outdoors too.

Golf has replaced poker as my main hobby...apparently I'm drawn to expensive activities that take a lot of time and tease us with visions of greatness :) Reading the other introductions, I was trying to remember when I started playing golf. I am not sure. I think it was in college when I was working at a construction company during the mornings and taking classes at night. My afternoons were free; after studying I would go out and play by myself. Later in life Wendy and I took lessons together (a hot women that backpacks and plays golf...I'm lucky, I tell you).

I went to Cal (out of spite...but that's another story), getting BA's in History and Social Sciences. Followed that up with a JD from Lewis & Clark law school in Portland. I didn't pass the bar exam and don't practice law. It was a major life crisis at the time. Now I see it as a major blessing in disguise.

I follow Cal in football and basketball, love my Dodgers but kind of root for the Mariners, and am the rare adult male that really doesn't care about the NFL. I kind of root for the Packers, mostly because Aaron Rodgers went to Cal and is best friend's with my law school roommate's nephew, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. My sports highlights are a near religious experience being reintroduced to the game at Bandon Dunes, making a hole in one with my best friend and seeing Cal in the Rose Bowl before my time on this earth is done (a guy can hope).

I am really looking forward to the Vegas Invitiational, my first THP event.

Cute kids Frank! Love that view.

Congratulations brother...I don't think I had heard this yet.

LOL, yea it's one of those no-big-deal things to me. Probably ought to make it one before I get some funky looks.

Great thread idea!

My name is Ray and I'm 31 years old. I live in and grew up in Rhode Island, with a brief stint in Boca Raton FL for part of my college experience. I have and 8 year old son named Keegan, and we love playing golf, baseball, soccer, and fishing together. He really is my little mini-me which is awesome!!

I met my girlfriend a few years ago, and we started dating a year and a half ago. We moved in together last summer and I couldn't be happier! She is very supportive of my golf habit, and s not going to get away...

I have been playing golf since I was 5 (although you wouldn't know it if you saw my current game) and played through high school. I gave it up in college to focus on my social life, and got back into it big time 2 years ago. I am now obsessed again and my life revolves around it.

I am currently a corporate recruiter for a major insurance company but have my eye out for other opportunities.

I'm Charlie. 19 years old, live in NJ, but currently a student at Clemson. I'd take a picture, but I'll wait until after exam week for that. Exam week me is awful.

Great thread idea Dev!

I am Dan, 22 years young, but my body feels like its 40 thanks to 18 years of playing hockey. I still play hockey, and that is my favorite sport. Huge Detroit Redwings fan! Golf is my number 2., and am always working on my game. I've been playing golf since I was 5. As of now, I'm unhappily single, but am learning it's nice to actually have money every now and then :p I have been to 1 THP event last year, and am going to 3 this year. As of now, I am in sales, but I am actually planning on going into the fire service, and becoming a firefighter/paramedic.

Hi THP, Jake here.

I started working as an Equipment Tester/Staff Writer for THP in May of 2009. I can't believe it's already been 4 years almost, time has FLOWN by. Besides THP and being awesome I spend most of my time working in IT at Sanford Health System in Sioux Falls, SD where I'm a Lead Application Support Specialist, that basically means I am the guy they call when crap doesn't work right. I've been employed here for 15 of my 39 years. That's a long time and in that time I've learned a great deal. I enjoy working here a lot, we're always growing and expanding so that is something that both keeps me busy and keeps my job exciting.

I've been married to my wife Anne for 13 years, we have 2 daughters named Ally (12) and Sammy (10) and we also have a dog named Pete who is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Here's a pic of my beautiful family, how in the world I got this lucky is beyond me. I count by blessings daily, believe me!

(I'm the one in back with no hair)

I don't know what else really, I really enjoy the work I do for THP and I've met some great life long friends from this place.

I'm James, currently 29 and residing in Okla-freaking-homa. I'm married to my highschool sweetheart Amanda (known as "The Doc" in my posts for her profession), we've been together 12 years now. I teach for a living (freshmen! BOO!) and was for a very long time a football coach (OL/DL) and also a track and wrestling coach. This is the place that pulled me out of a very rough time in my life thanks to the amazing friends I have found thanks to the site, I've also been TRULY blessed to become a Staff Writer here at THP allowing me to increase my knowledge and share my passion for the game.

THP is one of a kind, just like so many of us here. Tremendous.

Me with my better looking half:

Okay here we go, what the heck.

My name is Jonathan Taylor, although people here now me as JT. I'm 18, well 19 tomorrow. I'm a Freshman at Kennesaw State University, where I walked onto the golf team. I've lived in Atlanta all my life. My dad is from Illinois and my mom is from England. I get most of my sports teams from him. Ex: Univ. of Illinois, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Blackhawks. However, I do like Atlanta teams. I love the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks. I'm currently studying Exercise Science with hopes to become a P.A if this whole golf thing goes nowhere.

A couple things you may not know about me, and yes, it's about to get personal. I lived in England for a summer to work. This is where I found THP. I struggled with depression for about 3 years in High School. Still lingers today. That's why I struggle to let things go and I take alot of things personally. I'm not the cleanest person on earth. I have a messy dorm room, but I do clean it every so often. I hate spontaneousness. I like everything to be scheduled and to be able to know what I'm going to do that day. I work at a movie theater, but was also fired from a different movie theater before that.

I'm also a small kid. 5'10, 145. I have ridiculously long hair that gets out of control sometimes. I hate working out, but I only do it to help my golf game.

Aaaaaaaaaand, I'm single.

Jake its a good thing your daughters take after your wife!

Seriously buddy, beautiful family

Hi, my name is Joe. And I work in a button factory... okay, so I don't work in a button factory.

I will be 29 the weekend of the US Open. Grew up and still live in Central NJ. Went to college at the University of Delaware. I work for a large pharmaceutical/consumer goods company in their Indirect Procurement group. I have been with said company since graduating college.

I played varsity golf in high school, but chose to not to play it in college it because I did not want to burn out like I burned out of baseball from playing it so much growing up.

I really started playing golf seriously when I was 12 or 13, but had always been swinging a club since I could walk as my grandpa used to cut down his old clubs and regrip them for me.

I met my wife 5 years ago and we got married last April. Love of my friggen life.

We have a dog, Ellie and we rescued her when she was 8 weeks old. She is a Border Collie /Beagle mix and she is now about 3 1/2. Love playing frisbee and ball with her. Super athletic and a big lover.

Raising your son as a Browns fan is child abuse! I'm calling DYFS!:D

My name is Phil and I'm 26 from a small town suburb about 20 minutes outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Grew up a sports junkie and I'm a die hard Browns Indians Cavs and Buckeyes fan. After high school football is when I really got into golf and I've loved it ever sense. My wife and I will be celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary this fall and we are parents to an amazing 3 year old little boy View attachment 9262

I know this is going to disappoint a lot of people (and by a lot I mean everyone who hasn't met me) but I do NOT have flowing gold locks like you see in the picture anymore. I am just a regular everyday normal guy.

Figured I'd expand on this a bit. I'm 5'7", have red hair, and am getting my degree from Clemson in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration.

As for hobbies/passions, sports would basically be it. I know more about sports (as a wide range, any and all of them except NASCAR) than just about anybody I've ever met. I like to watch and play pretty much any sport there is. I'm a NY sports fan (Nets, Mets, Jets), though I also like the Carolina Panthers a bit and the Pittsburgh Penguins. I'm a massive Phil Mickelson homer too. Oh, I also love playing competitive chess, though I haven't played in a while.

Last, I'm VERY happily single and plan to stay that way for a long time.
