Boasting massive MOI and enhanced flight tuning capability, Tour Edges Exotics’s E723 driver is the driver for the rest of us. While golf manufacturers often get the most attention for their low-spin, better players’ drivers, the reality is that most golfers see better overall performance with more forgiving, higher launching options. In fact, on a recent episode of THP Live, Tour Edge shared that they typically sell three E series drivers for every C series driver.
Tour Edge claims the 723 line is the largest technological departure they’ve had from one generation to the next, and THP writer James Miles provided a great amount of detail on that in a recent article. While they’ve carried over many popular design features like Diamond Face and a refined Ridgeback, 723 is focused on adjustability, with both an adjustable hosel for loft and lie adjustments and the Flight Tuning System sliding weight for changes in horizontal dispersion. Tour Edge notes that the flight tuning system provides 10 yards of directional change on both sides of center, leading to a substantial number of fitting options.
Aesthetics
One aspect of club design that Tour Edge seems particularly adept at is displaying technology in a way that it becomes part of the design itself. While there will aways be ‘less is more’ advocates, this approach tends to be popular, especially in the game-improvement segment.
The crown of the E723 is the perfect example of using technology both internally and visually. Ridgeback is displayed prominently, bisecting the two carbon fiber panels to double as an alignment aid. Considering its target audience often struggles with dispersion in general, this is a design choice that inspires confidence at address. The gloss finish on the carbon panels is extremely well done, imparting a 3D quality on the weave that is all but impossible to capture in photographs. The head is stretched out a bit from front to back, but not to any extreme that makes it appear unusual compared to drivers in the same class.
The sole is anything but plain with the prominently displayed Flight Tuning System’s sliding weight track taking up a substantial amount of space at the rear. While feedback from our forums regarding the look of the sole has been mixed, we think the color scheme is classic and all the various parts are cohesively pulled together by the titanium strip that extends forward from the leading edge and back to the weight track.
In their technical presentation to us, Tour Edge noted that the redesigned Ridgeback has a significant effect on how the E723 driver sounds and feels. It imparts a great deal of rigidity into the design, and that produces a stronger feel and a crisper, brighter sound at impact. Testing certainly backed this up, as the E723 seems to be almost opposite what many consider a standard “carbon” feel. Impacts were exceptionally powerful feeling, with the ball seeming to rocket off a solid, immovable surface. The sound will be somewhat polarizing. Those that prefer the modern, muted sound of a carbon driver will likely be taken by surprise at the unapologetically metallic sound of the E723. While not approaching the decibel level of some of the more notorious “loud” drivers of the past, it is a sound that will be remembered from the first swing. As you might expect, feedback on the feel varied. Some found it too metallic for their tastes, but there were users that absolutely loved it. One thing can be said for sure – you will feel like you hit the ball hard with the E723.
Performance
While it boasts a 20g weight at the very rear of the sole, we found the E723 offered a flat, penetrating trajectory in its stock 9-degree setting. While fitting is a factor here, it was lower than optimal and required a quick hosel adjustment. The additional 2-degrees of loft helped quite a bit with raising the trajectory to more acceptable levels, though the ball flight still retained its piercing nature. Compared head-to-head with two recent game improvement drivers, the E723 in its stock configuration seemed to carry a bit less with almost identical total distance.
Almost as important, the loft adjustment managed to improve launch conditions without negatively affecting visual confidence at address. Those players that regularly miss left will understand the fear that a closed face presents. Whether it was because of Ridgeback or just the head shape in general, the face didn’t seem overly closed in higher lofted settings.
Regardless of the face orientation, this is a draw-biased driver, and we did see a tendency for the ball to gravitate left of center. This was particularly helpful for players that typically experience a pushed miss, as they had an easier time getting the face square at impact. For those looking to avoid the left-miss, the Flight Tuning System did work well at mitigating the draw bias. While it’s not a cure-all for every directional issue plaguing the average golfer, it’s a simple adjustment that does help.
The Diamond Face and Ridgeback technologies managed to provide exceptional forgiveness, both directionally and in terms of distance. The difference in results between center and off-center strikes was almost imperceptible to the eye on the golf course. Toe strikes did appear to impart less spin and a slight turn towards the left, but this was often a benefit since it kept the ball in the fairway. Tour Edge is extremely proud to share that the E723 possesses an MOI of 5600 g/cm2. While that number may go over most readers’ heads, the simplest explanation is that it signifies the very upper limits of stability and forgiveness in a driver head. This was most evident in the fact that the head rarely wanted to twist open or closed on off center strikes. In short, if you’re missing the middle of the face often, it would be well worth your time to take some swings with the E723.

Great Write-Up Ryan.
I know you mention that the appearance is going to be a bit polarizing, but I kinda like it
I really like the movable weight system in the back as well as the Carbon on the head.
Thanks for the info!
I’m really going to look into these I think. I love my c722 and the upgrades/updates to the 723 line seem like nice improvement. I like the look of ridgeback and this is more refined.
Thanks for the write up /review! I wish clubs weren’t so expensive. I absolutely love Tour Edge. I carry their products in my bag. All I need to complete my bag is this driver. It’ll have to wait for now.

I understand what you are saying. Though you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck here, cost is always going to be a factor.
Nice write-up! I’ve been testing the E723 too, for TEEm Tour Edge here on the THP Forum, and can pretty much confirm @Hawk ‘s observations. Forgiveness may be the biggest advantage with this driver, but that also means distance is very good too, as ball speed stays up there better on those off-center hits. I really like the looks, feel is very good, sound is a bit louder than I would prefer, but not enough to put me off, and performance has been getting better and better as I tune it in with the adjustability provided, and with shaft choices.

Really enjoyed this review and I think there is something to this head. Limited time with it, but in my swings, I just want to swing hard.
Sounds like a fun driver to try. While I don’t love the looks of the crown, it wouldn’t stop me from trying it and definitely would be easy to get used to if it performed well for me.
Thanks for the excellent review. I’m getting ready to driver shop, and need to add this to the potential list.
I’ve really been getting great results with the C723 driver. It is very forgiving. From what I’m hearing the E723 driver is even more forgiving.
Don’t sleep on these they are outstanding performers at a good value.
Lots of no upcharge shafts available besides the stock shafts too. Add in the quick turnaround for orders, the lifetime warranty and the playability guarantee it all adds up to a great deal.
If the sound is louder than you like a little bit of hot melt and the availability of different sole weights will allow you to tune the sound and swing weight to your preference.
I think this driver looks awesome. At some point I need to get my hands on some newer Tour Edge stuff as it’s been a while, at least just to take some swings for fun.
Thanks to THP and Tour Edge, I have one of these bad boys coming my way. Can’t wait to get it on the course and give my thoughts.
@Hawk Nice write up! I know there are a bunch of factors contributing to ball flight, but may I ask your swing speed? I am a lefty so it will default be coming in 10.5*, but it sounds like that might be ideal for this head. I have a SS of ~105.

Not even a comparison tbh. To be fair, the design of the E723 is very much made for guys like me. I’d still love to give a 10.5 head a go one day.

I’ve been reviewing this driver for TEEm Tour Edge for a while, and figured this is the best place to post my continuing comments. I’ll quote my previous posts from the ” Tour Edge Exotics C723 and E723 Drivers” thread here, then add new comments as I get more time with driver.

Okay, here are some unboxing photos, I’ll post more about first impressions when I get a chance to get some swings in, hopefully in the next couple of days, raining again today, but it’s supposed to stop tonight and be dry the rest of the week.
Tour Edge Exotics E723, 10.5*, Ventus Blue 6R shaft, Lamkin Crossline 360 Midsize grip. I went with the E723 for a couple of reasons, primarily because I can use all the forgiveness I can get, but also with the other three on the TEEm going with the C723 I get to be the only one reviewing this one. Besides, I already have a lower spinning 445cc driver, and I’m hoping this one will get me hitting more fairways.
So here are some photos of this gorgeous driver, please disregard any dog hair you see on the floor, I have two German Shepherds in the house (aka German Shedderes).
The overall look is great, all dark and shiny with the black carbon crown, the Ventus Blue shaft that is so dark it almost looks black, and the black Lamkin grip.

A lot going on looking at the sole, but I think it was well done.

The gloss crown looks good, most of my recent long clubs have had a matte finish on top, but I don’t mind glossy when it’s carbon fiber. The Ridgeback looks like it might aide alignment, but I’ll have to wait and see once I get some swings in.

Seems like photos make the face look deeper than it is, in hand it looks just about right to me.

So there you have it, a tough day to try out a new driver, but still a lot of fun. We have more bad weather coming in tonight, so it might be a while before I get out again, but I’ll be hitting another course as soon as I can.
Here are a couple of photos of the first swing on the range:
I found a “real ball” in the basket for the first swing.

Finally got the E723 out for another round, and it continues to impress me. So, E723, 10.5*, Ventus Blue 60R, Adapter in the 10.5* Upright position, and sliding weight moved to the Draw side. Having the adapter in this position squares the face up for my eye, and is the position I used in my previous TEE drivers. Moving the weight to the Draw side matches what I’ve been most successful with in my previous driver, a Ping G425 LST.
I got to my local course right behind a pretty steady stream of walk-ons, so I was told I’d probably move along better as a single if I started on the back nine (membership has it’s privileges ). No warmups, driver off the tee on this short par-4 10th, and my worst drive of the day, a popup that barely made it to the fairway, probably only 175 yds or so, but hey, it was a fairway hit! After that the driver played really well, this course only has nine holes that I hit driver on, par 70 course with six par-3s and three others that I hit less than driver, but I did hit 7 of 9 fairways with the E723. After that first tee shot, distance was very good too. It was CPO, with pretty wet conditions, and virtually no roll out in the fairways. I was measuring my drives with a handheld Garmin GPS, finding the balls either plugged or right by the ball marks, and drives ranged from 215 to 230 yds, which is very good for me since it was all carry. Ball flight was my typical mid to mid-low, and most were dead straight.
The forgiveness of the E723 is still a real eye opener, as I was missing some out on the toe, and didn’t really see any negative results form those misses. I still think the sound might turn off some, it is a bit on the loud side, doesn’t bother me any, I’ve had loud drivers before, but some may find it a bit much. The adjustability definitely works, the upright position on the shaft adapter definitely squared the face, and moving the sliding weight to the draw side straightened out the bigger than I like fade that I was seeing with the weight in the neutral position.
I also took a few more photos:
I put my old Tour Edge cart bag back in play:

Another outing with the E723 today, this time with the UST Elements Chrome shaft. Not the latest-greatest shaft out there, but a very good shaft that worked really well for me in my original TEE EXS driver. The Elements Chrome shaft is super smooth, it is a counter-balanced shaft, which is something I seem to really get along with, and my contact was much more consistently around the center of the face. The course is still on the wet side, and the fairways are being mowed a bit on the long side, so like last week’s round I wasn’t getting much rollout, if any. Drives were mostly straight, a couple of slight fades, and one dead pull that went really long. Driving distance was 210 – 225, except for that one pull that went 240. Hit five of nine fairways, two of the misses were just off the fairway, and the other two were further offline, but still in play.
The distance I’m getting may not sound like much to some, but for me it is pretty good, seeing that its close to being all carry. Once our courses start drying out, and I start seeing some normal rollout, distances are likely to be a bit longer than what I was seeing with my previous driver. The only negative with the E723 so far, which I have mentioned before, is that it is a bit loud. Not enough to be a big issue for me, so I’m pretty sure this one is a keeper, and it is very unlikely the Ping G425 LST will make it back in the bag.

Cold and windy, put some pretty bad swings on the ball, but honestly, not a bad day with the E723 driver. Adjustability and forgiveness are still by far where this driver stands out, but I’m also getting better distance than what I was seeing with my G425 LST. A good example was the first tee, with the wind but uphill, pulled a bit left missing the fairway, and still went 240 with very little roll (uphill in the rough). Unless I completely mishit the ball, which I did a couple of times, the E723 definitely does it’s part, and I’m really liking the shaft change I made, going with the old UST Elements Chrome.
So enough with the quoting of older posts, I actually got the E723 out to the driving range yesterday, something I don’t do much. I’m really liking the UST Elements Chrome shaft in this head, but getting some range time in is a good time to try something else. I have a HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX that also worked well in a previous TEE driver, so gave it a try too. These two shafts are similar, both counter-balanced, same weight, and not too different in torque. I think the Chrome feels a little smoother, and might be a little softer in the tip, but the Smoke Blue was really good in the E723 too. I’ll leave the Smoke Blue in it for my next round this Thursday to really see how it plays.
As for the outing to the driving range, the E723 was very good with both shafts. I was getting 200 – 210 carry consistently with both, and that’s with range balls, which is a good day for me. Flight was my normal mid-low most of the time, and either dead straight or a slight fade. I might have gotten a little more launch angle with the Chrome, but a bit more consistent center contact with the Smoke Blue.

I would love to give a couple different shafts a spin in this down the road. I think the Tensei is a solid all-around choice for many people, but I’ve got a couple favorites that I think would bring it even more alive.

I’m fortunate that I’ve had TEE drivers in the past, and kept my favorite shafts, with the TEE adapter. My E723 came with the Ventus Blue, which is also a very good stock offering, but I get along really well with counter-balanced shafts, so the Elements Chrome and the Smoke Blue were pretty sure bets for me. I’d still like to get my hands on the Ventus Red 4T that Tour Edge has as a stock offering, a shaft in the 50 g class would be fun to try. I used to have dispersion problems with lighter shafts, but I think the newer materials they are using in the more recent lightweight offerings has likely fixed that.

I’m loving the PX Cypher 50 (mid 50’s weight). Also have really been interested in the Kinetixx Velocity.
I got a real slow start testing the E723 driver, the weather here was not cooperating until just recently. It was a cold, wet, and windy winter/early spring, so opportunities to get out to the course or driving range were few and far between. I’ll be getting out for another round tomorrow though, and it’s going to be clear, calm, and in the 90s!!! From one extreme to another, and I am not ready for hot weather yet. On a positive note though, I’ll likely see what kind of rollout I get from this driver for the first time.
So another round in the books with the E723, and it’s starting to get pretty repetitive. I hit 8 of 12 fairways that I used driver, distance on those that hit the fairway ranged from 220 to 235 (measured with GPS), a little bit longer than my previous driver, and two of the misses were swings that no club could help. The HXRDUS Smoke Blue shaft worked really well, but still a toss-up between it and the Elements Chrome on which shaft will end up staying in it. I still can’t get over the forgiveness of this driver, misses out toward the toe, which was my primary miss yesterday, still got close to my expected distance, and went pretty straight.
No golf for me this week, so nothing new to report about the E723. Spring disappeared here this week, it has rained everyday, but looks like it is finally heading back towards some good weather. I’ll be playing Sunday at a very driver friendly course, so should have some feedback coming from that outing, and playing Monday at a the Cold Springs Country Club, a private course that I’ve never played before.
Nice round today, but mixed results with the E723. On the one hand I hit 12 of 14 fairways, but on the other hand I had a stretch where I was hitting everything really high on the face. Those high face shots still hit the fairways, but went way too high, and probably lost 50+ yards each time, making for some really long holes. As is typical with my game, the swings causing the high face strikes came out of nowhere, and went away the same way, and the last few holes I was hitting the center of the face again. When I put a good swing on the ball with this driver it is as good as any driver I’ve ever hit, and pretty much the same with marginal swings, in fact maybe the best I’ve ever had for mishits as long as they aren’t big misses.
I’m playing again tomorrow, on a course I’ve never even seen before, but I’m feeling pretty good about the driver I’ll be hitting.

High face can be a blessing or curse for me. If I’m steep or swipey it’s a very bad thing. If my path is good it’s usually an ultra low-spin ball that launches really high.

The high face misses for me yesterday were steep, so not a good thing, and real distance killers although they were still hitting the fairway. ????

That’s a good point. Not the worst miss, all things considered.
Thinking about pulling the Smoke Blue out and going back to the Elements Chrome for today’s round. I really like them both, but I want to see if I’m remembering right that I was more consistent with the Chrome, or if it is just my consistently inconsistent swing.
Interesting round today, played the Cold Springs County Club in Placerville, CA for the first time, and had a pretty good day. This was a Golf Moose “Member for a day” outing, which is a cool way to get on a private course, shotgun start, and unfortunately a cart path only day due to all the rain we’ve gotten in the last week. This is a kind of old school style course (opened in 1960), not too long, some elevation changes, and really small greens. I hit 8 of 13 fairways that I hit driver on, all of the misses were playable, with only a couple missing the fairway by more than a few yards. Driving distance was good, wet fairways again limiting rollout quite a bit, but I was seeing carry distances at or a bit better than normal for me. I had the UST Elements Chrome shaft back in today, and saw much more consistent contact around the center of the face. I don’t really know if I can credit the shaft, or if I was just having a better day.
2nd hole, driveable par-4 (~240 yds), put my drive left of the green just left of and a bit past the tree between the two bunker, leaving a clear pitch to the green. A missed fairway, but a good miss.

13th, dogleg right par-4, got around the corner with a little fade, started it just left of the cart path and ended up well around the corner on the right side of the fairway.

16th, short par-5, with a much more generous landing area than it looks like from the tee. The E723 hit a nice drive right down the middle on this one.

The pictures are beautiful, but I think I hate everything about that course :ROFLMAO:
Officially part of the crew.

Better yet, I’m able to put it to the test right away with 4 rounds over the next 4 days. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts.

Nice. What loft did you get?

I likely would have gotten 9.5 but lefty only comes in 10.5*. I’m going to leave it at that setting for a baseline and maybe tinker slightly each round.
First Impressions:
Accuracy
I hit 5/9 fairways in round 1, which is very good for me – someone who just really started to learn the driver this past winter. I birdied the first two holes I ever played with it, although it turned out to be a pretty dreadful round from there-out (for me, not the driver). I wasn’t swinging great either, contact was a little weird and my ball flight was low but I was keeping it in play. Round two, I went 3/6 with no penalties (shorter course, less driver centric). If I can play 50% FIRs this season I will be a happy man.
Distance
I didn’t know what to think of the distance since my swing wasn’t feeling great, the ball definitely wasn’t exploding off the face and it was too low to get much carry. The flip side of that is I think those swings would have actually not even gone as far as they did with the old M2. I saw a glimpse though – I absolutely peppered one roughly 280, and most of that was carry because it went past the dogleg point and ended up in the rough so I think it could have rolled out quite a bit further. Max hit for max hit, it doesn’t seem like I will be losing any distance but I need to do more testing.
Sound
The sound is verrry different than my M2, took about half a round to get used to it. I don’t think it will bother me much moving forward but it was a little jarring at first.
Appearance
Really a very good looking club, especially since I’m not usually drawn to Tour Edge from an aesthetics perspective. The topline at address is nice for accuracy and alignment. I do weirdly notice sparks when I hit the ground, that’s never happened to me before. It seems related to the moveable weight positioning, and grass definitely gets stuck in between the weight and the driver but I’ve been able to pick it out fairly easily.
I’m going to stick with stock settings for awhile. I’m still prone to two way misses – both hooks and slices. Until I can get those down to one-way I will stay neutral. Ball flight on my great hits seemed perfect and I’d rather it play to its potential rather than to my faults. I don’t want to punish myself on great swings and I’m only going to get better.
So far, thumbs up (y)

Appreciate the feedback. I know you mentioned not tinkering yet, but a loft change might be worth it. Compared to some other drivers out there I found it pretty effective.
Are the E series for high handicaps or slower swing speeds or both? I currently have a c721, really like it and not sure if I should be looking at the E or C series if I wanted to upgrade. I’m a high swing speed high handicap kinda guy

I’d say it depends more on what you need out of a driver than it does on swing speed or handicap. If you need the most forgiveness the E723 is the one. It is very adjustable, so launch conditions can be tuned with weight settings, adapter settings, and shaft selection. The C723 has a bit more adjustability in weight placement, so can be set up to reduce launch and spin more if that is an issue. Both are forgiving drivers, with the E723 being the most forgiving of the two, and both are very adjustable, with the C723 having a little extra there.
I was going to wait until after my round tomorrow to post, but have to drop a quick note that I had likely my best tee game round I’ve ever had today. To be fair I was hammering the 3W too, but 8/10 FIRs with the E723 and consistent 260 carry. I used to be happy with 260 total distance. 3 birdies today, bringing my total up to 6 in 3 rounds since putting the E723 into play.
A few better chips and putts and I could have broke 80. Not bad for a 16 handicap.
#17 – a short but tricky and risky par 5, the #2 handicap hole. I took an even more aggressive line than suggested by this satellite view (accidentally, it’s blind because of tall trees along the water) and landed at the red dot. 168 yards 2nd shot in, could have had a look at eagle if I didn’t hit my 7 iron over the green. It’s not very often I get to “settle” for a birdie.

Nice round! Are you still getting a decent amount of roll, even with the additional carry?
An interesting outing yesterday, only hit the driver on eight holes, but did hit five fairways with it, so still a pretty good percentage. One of the misses was into a hazard, a big push into the trees on a dogleg right, a really bad swing that got what it deserved. I kind of verified something else about the E723 though, it doesn’t mind if you really go after one. Three of the five fairways I hit were, swings that I really put everything into, and got some of the nicest ball flights of the day. Maybe I need to go with the big swing more often, results yesterday showed that it might be a good idea.

Not as much roll but but that’s not a bad thing. I was hitting 230-240 w/ 20-30 yards rollout. Now it’s closer to 255-260 w/ 10-15 yards roll out. More total distance by at least 10 yards and it feels a lot more reliable.
I couldn’t replicate my Saturday results on Sunday. 2/7 FIRs, ended up on adjacent fairways a couple of times to save my score. I had a couple of bombs but in general the swing wasn’t there. That’s golf ????
Still getting decent distance off of bad pokes though which is great, and knowing that days like Saturday are possible is good enough for me.

Indeed. That is definitely golf!
I’d take that latter result all day, every day. Really cool. I wonder where it’s coming from (speed, spin, launch, etc).

I’m interested as well but I don’t really have a way to obtain data. I can get a few stats such as ball speed and peak height from Top Tracer, but we’re working with range balls there and data may only be accurate as to telling the difference between the two – i.e. the ball may not be going 135 mph but I can assume that it’s at least consistent enough that if one club says 135 mph ball speed and the other says 130mph that there is a 5mph difference. Whether that’s coming from swing speed or smash factor would still be unknown though.
Well I might have one of these coming my way ?
And a fun Velocity shaft to test with it too ? Thanks @willplaysgolf
