More than a handful of years ago, UST Mamiya came out with an iron shaft called Recoil and it took the golf industry by storm. A huge success, the Recoil lineup is now the #1 graphite iron shaft on the market with a myriad of options to choose from. This year, they are releasing a new lineup called Recoil DART.
To begin, DART stands for Dual Action Recoil Technology and it is coming after years of development and testing. Getting into the technical weeds for a bit, DART is designed to optimize hoop stiffness in the critical areas of the shaft. In the flex zone of the shaft, you will find an increase in hoop dynamics bringing maximum energy transfer and better feel. In the tip section, the hoop stiffness is increased to stabilize and offer more consistency.
Hopping out of the tech talk, you are probably asking what this all means? Better consistency, more feel throughout the swing and maximum energy transfer. In other words, create a better Recoil shaft.
With UST Mamiya Recoil DART, the company set out to eliminate inconsistent areas of the shaft and any deadness or clunky feel that some associate with other graphite lines. Starting out, the company is releasing Recoil DART in two different weight classes, the 65 and the 75 and the specs are below. This offers both mid and high launches in fairly light weight packages.
In extremely early testing, we have seen some solid stability in weight classes where that is not normally the case. More coming soon after some more thorough testing in the THP Tech Studio.
Based on early conversations, I think we are going to be hearing a lot more about the UST Mamiya Recoil DART line of shafts in the near future. Of course, if you want a chance to ask the company directly, check out our THP Experience called Shaft Up, where you can win a trip to Las Vegas to get fit and spend time with the company over multiple days of golf.
I think my best shots with the 105’s come on my more aggressive swings. They really hold up well, and reward, my faster swings. Glad your local fitter came around!
In true THP style, I’m already pondering about shaft changes if I go the King Tour way.
It’s the only was to Morgan Cup
They’re fantastic in the hybrids but you NEED them in your irons.
It’s crazy how prevalent that silly thinking is still. It seems like every year I’m telling random golfers or shoppers about how good graphite, especially UST Mamiya, graphite is.
I argued with a guy in my golf league about this once. That was a couple years ago and he plays graphite now. They all come around eventually. ?

To my surprise I had no pain at all and I attribute that directly to the DART shafts. I definitely don’t feel 100%, but I don’t get any pain like I used to with elbow issues. In fact the only time I really feel it (and it’s not pain, just discomfort) is when I really ground the club on a mishit. Pretty pleased with distances and no issues hitting the type of shots I want to see with 8 or 9 irons.
In the past I used to get golfers or tennis elbow when I’d play a lot with steel shafts. This elbow issue is the first time I’ve experienced any sort of problem since I switched to Recoils almost 4 or 5 years ago. This specific issue was related to lifting weights, but it’s pretty cool that I can play through it with no pain because the graphite shafts are more forgiving, yet stronger than steel. Just a fun tidbit, that might mean nothing to anyone but me.
I thought about going this route but the LIN-Q hybrid is so good
Curious to see how you like the combo once you get them. This exact combo is at the top of my list
This is what I talked my local pro into haha He loves my Dart in the standard Apex I loaned him to try. I still need to do my wedges… might do that really soon
I love the darts in my wedges. Love them. My chipping has improved so much this year as well. I finally feel like I have some touch around the greens
It took me awhile to get used to the wedges honestly, but the last time out I was really getting some stuff close. It’ll be interesting to see what happens tonight. Course is muddy and I don’t generally play well in those conditions.
Ours are finally getting dry, so it has allowed me to actually see what it’s like to chip and keep all close. Hard to really find out and muddy wet conditions. I honestly didn’t think I would like them in the wedges and I might be most surprised by how much I do like them in the wedges now lol
Took the UW out of the bag for now but I’ll be putting LinQ White in that soon.

Taking THPers down with Arrow’s face on the shaft will be fun.
Hopefully soon!!
#1 that’s awesome. #2 if you have these at the Quest Cup I may request to take a few swings. I was sooo close to going with the 245s.
I tend to focus on the brands in play at the event, so will stick with Edel for that event.
Custom darts would be so cool. Hope your elbow lets you do that soon!
