Mizuno, in the past two release cycles, went from returning to the putter market and hoping to catch some eyes to being a tremendously popular option in the milled putter segment. In fact, I have no apprehension in saying that the M.CRAFT putters have been nothing short of fantastic in form, function, and finish.
For 2022, they are expanding the line again with three new models, the Mizuno M.CRAFT OMOI 01, 02, and 03.
Read on to get all the details.

2022 Mizuno M.CRAFT OMOI Putters
The root of it all here is heavyweight stability in traditional profiles, and creating a higher MOI design within the framework of an elegant looking visual as only Mizuno Golf can do. Before we dive into what makes them different, it makes sense to address the shapes first:
- OMOI 01 – An old school style slant neck blade with flowing flange lines that really show off the milling in a flattering way. This one is 370g with a ¾ offset design with 60° of toe hang.

- OMOI 02 – A Plumber’s Neck blade shape that will appeal to the Anser fans out there, truly a traditional feel with a modern Mizuno twist. Comes also as a 370g model with full-shaft offset and 40° toe hang.

- OMOI 03 – The big boy, a full mallet shape that is based on what many will find to be a familiar and comfortable shaping. This is the face balanced and full shaft offset option weighing in at 383g.

The OMOI extension is milled out of forged 1025 carbon steel just like the rest of the M.CRAFT options and when that is combined with their fantastic face milling there is sure to be no issues with the feel/feedback. Likewise, Mizuno is continuing to offer each model in three different finishes, their new Double Nickel satin, Blue Ion, and Black Ion.

So, what is different then?
Well, the weight. You see, Mizuno wanted to improve the overall stability for golfers seeking a higher MOI but to do it within the framework of a traditionally classic looking design. What their testing showed was increasing the head-weight while also moving to a lighter grip and shaft should move the clubs center of gravity and help produced a more controlled face rotation through the stroke.

How does this compare with the other M.CRAFT putters? That would be a 15g to 28g increase depending on the model when the putters are using the standard 8g weights in the sole. With that in mind, Mizuno is again including a full kit with each putter that have a pair each of 3g and 13g weights. This remains a cool touch from Mizuno to include the kits as it is something others are quick to charge extra for instead.

The Details
Each putter in the OMOI extension of the M.CRAFT lineup will be priced at $349.95 and hit stores and websites on March 17, 2022. Along with the three aforementioned finish options for each model, they will come standard with the new Lamkin OMOI SinkFit grip and chrome shaft. However, a “Black Out” option will also be available featuring a KBS Tour Black Ion plated shaft as well as a special blacked-out M.CRAFT putter cover.

Played last weekend and rolled the OMOI 1. This baby is staying in the bag. Adjusted the weight to the 13 grams and it’s a bit too heavy so I think I’ll go back to the 8 gram weights. But I putted the best I’ve putted in a long while. Easy to get the ball rolling, great…. amazing feel. Was super confident with it in my hands.
It’s staying. Lock it up!!!

any shops near you that carry that putter and have a demo area so you can see if it’s just yours or if it’s the overall design that is giving you issues?

Weight or toe hang maybe?
i’ve tried this putter before and i would say the putter i received is similar. i’m not a good putter at all. so i need something that works with me and gives me lots of forgiveness when (not if) i miss the middle.

Bummer. It’s a great style and overall great looking putter.

I thought the OMOI 3 was face balanced. Is it not?
maybe i adjusted. maybe it was just a good day on the greens. maybe the omoi 03’s bff told it i was thinking about dumping it and fought for our relationship. whatever it was, the omoi 03 gave me one of the best putting rounds i’ve had in a LONG time.
i can only remember one putt i missed where i wished the putter was a little more forgiving. the other 26 putts on the day (yes, only 27 putts in total) were pretty darn good.
just an all around excellent day on the greens that elevated my confidence and made a strong statement that the omoi 03 earned more time in the bag.

Awesome! Maybe she just plays hard to get. ?
Loving my Omni Type 1. Love love love….. I’ve adjusted the weighting in the putter. Placed the 13 gram weight in the toe and the 8 gram in the heel.
Played yesterday – and the putter felt amazing. My Normal miss right was no longer there and I believe it has much to do with the weighting. Didn’t have my normal miss and didn’t miss a putt inside 4 feet.
This putter will stay in the bag for the foreseeable future.

How does setting the different weights affect the way the putter feels for you? Can you notice a difference? Is it a subtle change? Helping you do anything specific in your stroke that you weren’t doing before?

the heavier toe weight (I believe) helps me close the face of the putter through the stroke and not push the ball To the right. It’s a definite toe hang setup. I may try putting the 5 gram in the heel today to see how that feels.

I moved around the weight in my IV today. Ball striking with irons was a mess but only 1 3 putt. But that’s because I got 20ft up above the hole on #10 our greens are super fast right now so I rolled what I thought was a slow putt that I sped 10 foot by then missed the comebacker.
I think I like the heavy toe weight. Putter is saved by the skin of its teeth again and will survive another round.

a couple days of practice putting with the omoi 03 and i’m liking it more and more. i still might swap in a bigger grip and maybe cut it down 1/4″, but i do love the feel of a well-struck putt with this thing. i admit i still feel like i’m fighting it sometimes, but i think that’s just because my last putter was so big with so much weight low and on the perimeter that i was getting away with a jankier stroke than i realized. a decent stroke with the omoi 03 and the roll has been extremely smooth. like @Jman said sometimes you just need a little time, and with a little time the omoi 03 gets more and more fun.

What about it do you think is contributing most to your success with it? Is it the weight? Shape? What is the magic?
I just don’t find this lineup of putters to be appealing, at all.

i think the weight. something heavier to keep things online.

coming up on 3 months and this is squarely in the bag. i really do love it. i’ve picked up some confidence, and i’m making good putts. there’s no doubt that the omoi 03 is less forgiving than the spaceship i was putting with before, but my on-course play has not suffered at all and i have already gained confidence and comfort with it.

Sounds like a winner! I need to get to a store and try these again.
Rolled a bunch of putters. The OMOI 3 stood out to me. There is a lot to like. I have the m-craft IV and the familiar sound is comforting. The heavier weight promotes a smooth stroke. I have to setup a little differently. This is a contender for adding a mallet to the current quiver of one.

I am so intrigued by the OMOI 3. I also game the Mcraft IV and have grown to really love it with a couple of weight adjustments. I’m playing it heavier now than I did before so that makes me feel like OMOI might be good for me. I always forget to look at them when I’m at the golf store though.
I actually rolled the M craft IV recently. I didn’t get it but that’s a really nice putter. Amazing blue finish too.

yup, it really does. my lack of a blue M Craft blade needs to be remedied.
I’m about 90% sure want to switch from my Mcraft IV to the OMOI 3.
I’ve been using my old face-balanced Rossie on the mat in my office and took it out on the course for my round on Wednesday and I’m feeling so much more confident in my stroke with the face-balanced putter and going straight back straight thru. I feel like I’m ‘fighting’ with the Mcraft IV and have to think hard about my path with it. It’s hard to keep confidence up that way. I’m already a sub-optimal putter and golf is hard. I think it’s time to make the switch.
I’m just not sure how much I’ll enjoy the heavier head of the OMOI as opposed to the MCRAFT 3 or 6.

my putting went to the store for a pack of cigarettes and hasn’t returned. so the omoi 03 is getting benched for my previous gamer. hopefully it’s just temporary because i really do love the way the omoi 03 looks and feels. i just may not be a good enough putter to make it work.
I’m struggling big time with my OMOI 3 also. But I struggle in some way with every putter I touch. I’ve got 4 putting lessons I’m in the process of scheduling out in April/May so hopefully I find something. It’s going to be interesting to see if my instructor suggests that I stick with the OMOI or go to a different profile.
i was on fire with this thing for awhile. admittedly i’m playing a lot less, and i haven’t practiced putting at all. so that’s on me. i just know i’m not hitting my start lines at all, and i’m missing the middle of the face which is causing direction and speed issues. none of that is a good thing haha. my previous gamer is a spaceship of a putter, but it’s also crazy forgiving so i’m going to embrace that for the time being.
The OMOI 3 is the furthest thing from forgiving that’s for sure. It’s got such a small face that it makes you really work for it. I was hoping that’s what I’d need to make myself a better putter. Maybe it’s working but the growing pains are rough. Gonna stick with it though as long as the instructor I go to doesn’t demand I use something different.

Interesting, I thought foregiveness came from heal toe weighting, but thie OMOI putters are all considerably heavier (I think) than average. So, these are promoting more of a wobble free (sort of) stroke. Maybe the next gen will both add weight and move it to heel and toe?
I use a VERY heavy putter – about 408ish gram head. I try to counter balance it to make it feel lighter. But I have noticed a much smoother swing overall (for me). And that had helped me a lot. Practice with perfect putt mat does not hurt either. Mine is a double wide style anser so some weight in teh back, but most still is heel and toe.
I hope you get this resolved soon!
I swear OMOI 3’s have ears. I remember months ago @McLovin was contemplating ditching it and then promptly went out and 1 putt damn near everything the next time he played. Last night I was talking to a friend about moving on from the OMOI and going back to a wide blade. Evnroll ER2 specifically but then today magic happened and I couldn’t miss from 10ft and in with the OMOI 3. Ended up shooting even on 9 holes with 14 putts . :ROFLMAO:

it’s such a love hate relationship. some rounds i can’t miss. others zero confidence.

I know this very well. I hate that I love it.
My OMOI 3 was been benched for the month of May. I’m going to give it one more chance in June. We will see if it’s time to move on.
I just don’t think I’m a good enough putter to begin with to be able to use it. I feel like the OMOI 3 is a great putter for those with a reliable stroke that find the middle of the face repeatedly.
That’s definitely not me.
