I did ok from the tips on the bear trap. Double, double, par. But both doubles were 3 off the tee doubles. So really I was even with a lot of penalty strokes. :)

He usually spices things up before running with the jokes, try that...

Which hole was the hardest? The par 4 between the two 3 pars looks ridiculously hard.

That par 4 was extremely difficult. It's a great hole. I remember my drive and Uncle Daddys drive were both left. We had to lay up left of the water and then hit over the water to where the green was. In that wind it was tough.

I'm rethinking the tips the first time out after some discussion and also seeing PGA NAtional is the 5th (or 4th) longest the pros play all season.

I'll definitely tip it on the bear trap.

It's not just the length. Champion Course had the highest scoring average last year. Toughest course out there.
 
I think the first par 3 was the hardest. If I recall it was over 200 and all carry from the tips.

The par 4 was also long but there was a bail out left.

The last par 3 of the bear trap was the easiest IMHO anyway.

Edit. Ok maybe not 200y for the first one. But it played long as it was into the wind.
 
I am getting so excited to play this course. I can't wait to watch it being played and get some tips from the pros. Bear Trap here I come!

Something to keep in mind for the champion course is that the "tips" is not where the pros will play from. If you stand on the black tees and look behind you there is another set of tees with no marks. That is where the pros play from.

Actually this is not entirely correct. They play both from the tips and what PGA National calls "tips plus" or "Sunday Tour".
 
I thought that the pros pretty much play from everywhere. this way the course will play completely different. I.E: this weekend a par 3 play 240 something yards one day and 200 another.

Fair Nuff. I just remember looking for the black tees on a few holes and there was another set of tees behind them. Scary stuff.

IMO, 16 (the par 4 you are talking about) was the hardest from start to finish. You can drive it too long and if you miss left you are setting up for a LONG approach over water and dealing with the wind. If you miss right, your ball is wet. Then you get to the green and it's just plain wicked.

That said, both par 3's are very difficult holes. There just isn't anywhere to miss and the hole sets you up to miss.

Yeah I saw that a few times as well. On hole 9 I went and stood on that "unmarked" tee box and holy smokes, that's all I got to say. I'd still be there plunking balls in the water before I finally could drum up the gumption to hit a good shot! I can't wait to watch this weekend!
