Big Break Atlantis

Yes, JRod, it is. I struggle terribly with mine. Wow, Hendo's sister is a basket case. You'd think she's be tougher, and have cauliflower ears. Shannon seems tough, and I think I read somewhere, hell, maybe here, that the girl from Pittsburgh is a really good player. The girl that went home probably deserved it. She was in way over her head. Not a good golf swing at all. I like the Mexican girl and Costa Rican.

But my favorite is the green golfer Aubry. She cares. And talks really slow so I can follow right along.

My posts were in the Banter thread and were moved here. Sorry to ruin your evening. But a heads up. Big Break threads are rarely about the golf. Mostly complaints about the personalities and looks of the contestants, men or women, with some golf talk thrown in. Face it, there's not that much golf in the show. If golf talk is what you want in a Big Break thread, in most cases, you're going to have bring some golf talk with you.

Oh I know... And no worries, the evening wasn't ruined. I've been around athletics for a very long time and, on occasion, the T&A banter strikes a nerve. It just happened to happen tonight.

Coming from a gay guy, as soon as I saw the contestants for this year I was a bit disappointed, just because I knew that it would lead to that kind of banter. But alas, what can you do? I'm trying to focus on as much golf as GC will show us.

Am hopeful that the one with the yips is able to work it out.

Zakiya designs her cloths and wants to impact golf fashion... Kind of like Serena tried doing for a while in tennis. I don't see it going too far.

Shannon from TX has game, it's just that little girl voice that's off-putting. She may surprise folks though.

As to the topic of swinging around ones mammaries, it's not that difficult, though I admit I've wondered the same thing where men with moobs and/or really big bellies are concerned. I think it comes down to knowing your body and the space it takes up, then learning to move it in the way needed to accomplish the sport.
 
I really should've watched tonight. Is there any place online to watch episodes? Or do they air them again or something? I hate not having DVR.
 
I am trying to catch this all the way through on the replay. I just can't get into Big Break anymore. When it first came out, I loved it, rarely missing an episode. I watched the one in Scotland from about 5 years ago, religiously. The one Tommy Two Gloves was on. I liked Marty, the Englishman with the bad attitude. It has just become to hokie for me. I like beautiful women as much as the next guy, but you can't tell me these girls were the absolute best that submitted videos, entries, whatever. Prettiest? Yeah, probably. The all men shows just seemed to be a more rounded, robust competition. Take Scotland for example, Paul won, he was a 40 year old smoker and recovering alcoholic and dude had game. The Big Break ladies shows have become "lets trot a bunch of busty models out there and if they fail, well, they can do a calendar or something". They could all kick my a** any day of the week, but I would rather watch a golf competition built around peoples ability, rather than their looks.
 
I was worried Meghan would be eliminated tonight. That clip with Yani Tseng entering the breakfast room obviously was filmed very early in the series, considering the large number of women at the table. Every time Golf Channel showed that clip I took a quick look and didn't see Meghan.

Shannon was my pick before this series but she's a clod in terms of probability if she actually believed you had to assume 4 points per shot to the players who went before her. Among 7 players, and the specified rules, the most logical distribution was 2 players at zero.

They have been promoting that all week...every Tuesday Breed is doing a Golf Fix with that weeks elimated contestant all season long.

You can watch it online and they will replay it 5 or 6 times before next weeks show.

I wish they showed more golf in these shows, I have no problem looking at hot chicks in beach wear, but I can do that anytime...play some damn golf! I wasn't impressed with the golf skills of any of them tonight really...most of them missed the short putt and other than Shannon, none of them really hit very good shots from 75 yards either.

The chick that makes her own clothes needs to make some new ones, cause those were hideous and finally they chick that pulled the Kevin Na on the green needs to go soon too.

So far I think Shannon and Anya have the best game, but its early.
 
I haven't watched a Big Break in a while and didn't plan on watching this but I happened to pass it on the tv guide. Talk about one big advertisement, I guess all shows are like that now but I couldn't take it.
 
Oh and one more thing....I want to go on vacation there and play golf....that is all

It's not, for me, a matter of the women competing against the men, it's more of a principle of same game same payout and currently the only comparison that comes to mind is professional tennis.

I get that the women play a shorter course on average, though with hitters like Yani that may change.

Is is more organizational politics or something more elusive to the recreational observer?

I don't see it as a parity question at all. The women aren't as good as the men, which means there is less interest, which means there is less financial support from sponsors, which means there is less money in the pool for payouts. In short, they aren't playing the same game.

I hear ya ... I was inconsolable when Meghan was ousted (my wife was laughing so hard at my reaction & knew why I liked Meghan). Could NOT believe it. Well, one thing is for certain ... it isn't fixed, if it was, they would have found a way to keep Meghan in it until the last round for ratings.
 
Dont be shocked if they find a way to bring her back, a la Petey. I can't believe they'll let her get away that easy. The Texan's voice is very grading but damn does she have game. It's like an hour of golf porn once a week.

It's nothing short of awesome.

It was really cool watching last night's episode and remembering certain spots like I was just there.
