Divide.
The Dictionary defines it three ways:
- To separate into two or more parts, areas, or groups
- To separate into portions and give out shares
- To cause to be separate, distinct, or apart from one another
Honestly, it is a word that is intertwined with the serious, and oft over-serious nature of the world we live in today. Thankfully though, Srixon Golf is taking the word and applying it to a much more entertaining thing…golf balls.
In a move that will undoubtedly provide a lot of discussion among golfers, Srixon is bringing back the two-tone golf ball. Say hello to the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE.
Enter the Srixon Divide
Yes, let’s get right to it. Look at that cover.
While those who have been around the game for a few decades may be immediately taken back to the design of a company from yesteryear, many are surely left going, ‘woah’.
Not only is the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE a two-tone golf ball, but it is also a two-tone matte finished golf ball with one half red and the other yellow. More than that, the company is quick to point out that this is not a painted-on finish, both colors are infused into the new thermoplastic urethane cover of the DIVIDE ensuring both durability and consistency.
Why two-tone? Well, to make spin visible for golfers, particularly in the short game. The nature of the dual colors means golfers will be able to witness the spin of their pitch and chip shots and get visual feedback from that in practice and on the course. Additionally, when it comes to putting, the dual colors offer an alignment aid one direction, and a check on the forward roll (or lack thereof) when set up in the other direction. What some may not realize is those classic golf balls that used this look are still in the practice bags of many golfers, and now they can get that same practice effect with a modern golf ball that can be taken to the course.
Internally, the DIVIDE is the same performance driven golf ball of the standard Q-STAR TOUR. It offers the same FastLayer Core and 338 dimple pattern that creates the wide range of playability that the non-DIVIDE version does. It remains a 3-piece urethane golf ball which has a 72-compression rating and is aimed at 75 MPH and up players offering a Mid-High launch and High greenside spin.
The DIVIDE will hit stores on 4/15/21 and carry a $32.99 price point.
What do you think about the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE from Srixon? Is it something you plan on giving a try? Is it too far out of your wheelhouse? Jump into the discussion below and on the THP Community and let us know!
Played them for a bit now and already do.
I have played 4 rounds with the divide and have 2 balls left of the 9. I really like this ball but I will wait for Srixxon to have a deal before buying more. $32.99 is just slightly more than I want to pay for a ball.
I didn’t like the Q stars a few years ago but I really like these balls and could definitely game them as a primary ball.
@JB I wonder when they will release these 2 color combos?
I like these balls but I am certainly not going to pay $6 extra for them that is nuts but that is just me being cheap.
JMHO
Q-STAR and Q-STAR Tour are Different balls
As @JB mentioned the Q-Star and Q-Star Tour are different balls. The Divide is Q-Star Tour. Perhaps that’s why you like these balls and didn’t like the Q-Stars a few years ago.
Q-Star is $26.99. Both websites I just checked the Divide and regular Q-Star Tour are the same price of $32.99.
Maybe it won’t hurt so bad if you think of it as an extra fifty cents when you lose one?
Ohhhhh, that might explain why I like this ball but didn’t like the reg Qstar.

Pink and white is a good idea. In fact, I think white would pair well with a lot of colors to tone things down without giving up the alignment benefits.
With this new release does it mean the 4th generation of Q Star Tour won’t be out for a while?

Wouldn’t that be cool if a pink version was released! Pink and white would be a decent (boring) combo, but for more modern pop, I would love to see a matte pink/matte blue or matte pink/matte green version.
I really like this ball!
I almost broke down and bought another dozen but I’m really trying to hold off and wait for the other colors to be released…really want the yellow/orange.
I’ve played two rounds, and I really like watching it too. I am with you on the potential for distraction though, every time I try to line up the ball and put a good stroke on it, I end up rolling the thing like a wounded duck and missing the hole. I am not good at the ball alignment games yet, my normal putting routine is fast and stopping to line up a ball and worry about how its rolling may be too much of an ask.
I love the "two face" tee shots – when the ball flies all the way to the target with parting line visible mid air.
agreed on the tee shots! Looks awesome off the driver
Sadly, it failed to float when I rinsed one on the 3rd hole this morning . #Science
Haha One of the guys here is playing it and called it that earlier.
LOL, I was actually going to comment on that last week. I played Apex MB last Thursday and Friday with Divide… then I took out the ZX7 today. They are ridiculous off the MB, feels squished. All compression. I have noticed they launch higher than my Z-Star’s, some have really gotten up with ease.
One of the guys I played with yesterday commented that seeing the ball spin on chips made him dizzy . Then he said to watch out for extra spin due to the yellow being heavier than the red… doh!
I stopped by Vans yesterday and they had 4 dz left i grabbed 2! Heading out this aft and i am all stocked up.
That is all I have for on-course experience so far…
Hopefully their popularity will make Srixon release the other two colors sooner rather than later!
I saw that there were only two left here a couple days ago and snatched one of the dozens for the wife. She’s bound to start losing some eventually, but I do think there’s something to having her play balls she really likes. I swear she tries harder not to lose them!
He found it this way:

I’m hopeful for a white and neon yellow version. For whatever reason, red golf balls just don’t get along with me.
