Last month Cobra Golf dropped their latest hybrid and it was sort of a surprise release timing wise. The Cobra KING Tec Hybrid immediately looked high tech (no pun intended), but how would it perform?
Today we are in the THP Tech Studio for another episode of TESTED! Where you see the swings and get a full breakdown of the data on the new Cobra KING Tec Hybrid. The video below starts off with some technology talk, and we walk you through overhead what is going on with this new hybrid. Then we hop into the hitting bay for some swings and finally, we breakdown the information that the Foresight GCQuad presented and give you some final thoughts.
This episode is full of information and data. Can this hybrid unseat some of their previous offerings with rails? How does the face angle sit and is it prone to hooking? We cover all of it in this review of the Cobra KING Tec hybrid that is just now hitting stores.
After watching the THP TV video above, what are your initial thoughts on this piece of equipment?
For more information on this specific club or anything else from the complete lineup from Cobra Golf, check out their website at www.cobragolf.com.
What do you think the difference is?
You will not go wrong with the King Tec. Don’t sleep on this one.
I made a new friend today.

Chased the above with another crunched one, but pulled it worse. Then I thinned one, and it held up VERY well not over-spinning, and landed on the center line. Then I smoked a couple of high draws peaking at 125ft and coming in at 46* from 240+ out. Off the deck. That will play, right?
After that fifth shot (perfect), I racked it. People waiting. What a cannon!

I think I might need two they are so good.
I’m not sure I’ve ever enjoyed a club in this area of the bag as much as these.
I agree, it’s crazy just how under the radar this club is – definitely going to have at least one in my bag going forwards.
I never see the club as open. I actually lofted up so that should close the club face a little.
me neither, but I’ve never been sensitive to open or closed faces at address
now during the swing I am very familiar with an open face
The only open face I know is a sandwich.
Have to be careful with the bump and run with this club, damn thing is so hot that it’s very easy to knock it 180 yards over the other side of the green
It’s the only hybrid in the bag. I will only play the shot if it’s something I could possibly putt but the turf doesn’t let it.
That is awesome. Glad to hear your feedback, and that they are working so well for you.
I like the dirt ????
Sometimes I feel kind of bad if this doesn’t get used more often as it’s been a club I can really trust in that 200-yard range. I am really looking forward to getting this on real grass (we just got another dump of snow ?) and experiencing how it performs for me. I was initially unsure about the lack of offset/"Player’s Hybrid" but it is really growing on me. Trust your swing and this thing will send it.
Kinda like the 9th hole during Alt Shot at TPC Vegas, right @jjsportz
Couldn’t have been a better shot! That shot got us the point.
I’d argue that assessment of the full point, but I’ll take half a point from it, I vaguely recall another one after that
Teamwork my friend! That’s what we did!
You get your King Tec out yet this year?
Only in Winter league. Can’t wait for the new season.
LTDx is not adjustable. It seems a little more upright to me. You’d have to check length and lie angle to know for sure. Should be posted online.
I really like my King Tec. I also really enjoy the Ping 425 hybrid. I haven’t gamed it so that’s the reason I would lean King Tec. Go hit them and post results. That’s a shootout for sure.
I haven’t hit either. I felt I was allergic to all hybrids. I had a number of hybrids before the king Tec that never stuck.
to emphasize how non-fade bias king tec is: I have it setup in +1 draw and weights in the heel. I would have never thought I could setup a hybrid in draw setting before this one.
and this isn’t me being a cobra fan: the SZ hybrids did not work for me at all.
The ball stayed down under the trees and lifted high and leaked back right into the fairway, leaving me the wedge in. That was probably the highlight swing of the round today.
I’m sure it’s probably mentioned somewhere, but how is your weight and loft configured?
I have the 2 and 3 hybrids. Even though I tend to lose shots right I’ve got the weights standard and the the lofts standard in the draw setting to get in a degree more upright. This puts the lie settings in line with the RadSpeed hybird. I‘m wierd and the heavier weights both towards the heel didn’t work well for me.
The 2 hybrid bunches up a little bit off the deck with the 3 hybrid in terms of distance.
But give the LTDx hybrid a good look as well. I really enjoy the adjustability but part of me would be okay with a 3 and 4 hybrid I know are locked in and gap well.
I am set -1 and just recently moved the weights on the bottom to neutral. Was playing it as a fade only setting for gapping but the 17 UW is about 3 clubs longer that way. its about 1.5 clubs longer this way.
I’ve played that way before with no complaints. Gotta play what works for you
Ill keep you posted but have the LTDx Max fairway incoming to challenge the 2 hybrid.
No forgiveness lost at all, and it is so adjustable in terms of loft that it can fit many places. The weights on the sole are moveable as well, and they make a huge difference to ball flight. I’m looking at a 4h to replace the 7w, and if they hit well in the fitting then I may well be using a 3h instead of the 5w as well. Bearing in mind that the Radspeed fairways are the best I’ve ever hit, that’s a hell of an endorsement!
It’s really forgiving and long. It’s a good thing it’s adjustable because without a full gap session fitting it would easily push into other clubs
At address it is hidden well by the color palette. But they are definitely larger than the LTDx hybrids. They are somewhere in size between a small fairway wood and a hybrid, similar to where Callaway has positioned their UW.
The LTDx looks to be a little draw biased and as someone with a history of hooking hybrids that is not appealing, so the King Tec is much more desirable to me with it’s flatter face and neutral bias, especially with its adjustability.
I’m looking at the King Tec 5H as a 4 iron replacement. Looking for it to be my 185-195 yard club slotting in between my 5 iron and 7 wood.
It will play stronger than the stated loft. It has a lot of speed in that face.
and I have the 2H lofted down to replace the 3w slot in the bag
love the versatility on these things.
