The iron family from Cobra Golf is extremely robust, and with that plethora of choices comes a new aesthetic option that will surely please even the most discerning golfer. Recently, the debut of the RF Proto iron turned heads with its appearance, and today they are unveiling the entire Copper Series.
The Cobra Copper Series is a new finish, inspired by Rickie Fowler, that will grace multiple sets of irons. In addition to the brand new KING RF Forged MB, the KING Tour and KING Forged TEC each are available.
Before jumping into the new Copper Series finish, we need to tackle the brand new iron to the lineup. The KING RF Forged MB irons are an evolution of the RF Proto irons introduced earlier this year. Each clubhead is forged five times out of 1025 carbon steel to deliver an incredibly soft feel at impact. The face and grooves are CNC milled, and like Rickie’s gamers, the irons are fitted with a tungsten toe weight to create a center of gravity position behind the impact zone for more stability and that pure feeling when struck.
The first question most will think of is how different are they then the original offerings, and the answer is they aren’t. Same high performance and technology packed in those sets are in the new Copper Series options.
The Cobra Copper Series finish is done with a PVD, so there will be some wear. Underneath this look however, is satin, and over time the combination of fantastic copper finish mixed with a worn satin pattern looks very good.
All three of the Cobra Copper Series sets come with Cobra Connect Smart Grips giving players access to shot tracking data powered by Arccos and you will get a 90 day free trial to the Arccos Caddie with purchase.
For our opposite handed readers, both the KING Tour irons and Forged TEC irons are available in both RH and LH, leaving only the KING RF MB Copper as RH only. Each set is offered in 4-PW with the two non-muscle backs also having both a 3 and GW available in custom orders.
The KING RF Forged MB come with the KBS C-Taper 120 steel shafts, while the KING Tour that featured MIM technology, come with the KBS $-Taper 120. The KING Forged TEC have both a steel and graphite option with the KBS $-Taper Lite in steel and the Project X Catalyst 80 in graphite.

WOW, that looks so good.
I accept all of the above.
k thx.
You took the words right out of my mouth. The Forged Tecs – . Bernoulli’s game – . But, they look so good .
I did exactly the same! The better half came downstairs to make sure I wasn’t watching something I shouldn’t ?
I mean…. same basic result, no?

The "but, honestly, I was looking at golf clubs" excuse. Don’t think my wife would buy that one.
? @OITW ?
Exactly the same basic result, but looking at these I can look at them again immediately afterwards
But sweetheart, they’re sooooooo pretty. Sofa for Rob this week I think
If I had one comment, I prefer the paint fill on the RF model, not sure the black paint fill works for the other two….
& that is picking some serious serious holes in a very slick release
They don’t judge.
Not yet but we describe it in the article a bit. It will bring satin to the surface and blend with thecopper a bit.
That seems to be fairly standard now for premium irons right? Somewhere between 1200-1500?
I prefer that black contrast, but I get what you are saying.
Oh yes that would be amazing!
Sure. But are they "permium" or just a different finish? Or does one predicate allowing to call them "premium". Im certainly not bashing the looks or the design. I dont think i remember a price increase for the black finish? I could be wrong.
I was wondering when this announcement would be official as I had seen some photos around.
The entire line is premium in my opinion.
Forgot about that special release
I saw that comment and became instantly fascinated at how these irons will wear. It sounds like a positive not a negative.
Way to go CPG!
Including the non copper finish??? If so, I guess ill need to have some clarity on what makes one premium vs non premium. I think there is a standard release from every single OEM, every cycle. Some decide to go a bit deeper and offer something limited or special (re: mizuno, etc) Some say they are "premium" and to me thats pretty subjective from person to person, player to player as you mentioned. I guess i cant wrap my head around any type of marketing that says its a "premium" product. To me its a marketing term. If it were truly premium and stood above the competition, then more people / pros would be playing it. Regardless of who made it. People play what works best for them or what they get fit into. I dont think any fitter is saying, these copper finish irons fit you better than the normal finish. Its a vanity thing isnt it?
But i dont think its a premium product just because the finish is different. Same with any other OEM that does the same thing fwiw.
This is probably a topic for a different thread. Not meaning to hijack this one. They are great looking irons. Theyd be even more great if they werent priced @ $1400 as nothing is different other than the finish on them
Doesn’t look like it
To be fair they are only $100 more than the standard King Tour at $1299
Hmm. Ok then i thought the King Tours were like $899. So, if thats the case then its fine i suppose and i can be more on board with it. Did cobra raise the prices on everything recently and ive just been living in a cloud?
A $100 increase doesn’t seem so bad for the premium finish.
I’m surprised the new MBs are $1100 cheaper than the RF Protos, though.
RAD Speeds are the $899 irons.
I don’t think so RAD Speed are only $899 which seems about right. I think Forged Tec have been $1099 for some time.
The article in the first post has all of the details including price, shafts, etc.
I do think the brand is putting out premium products. New finishes come at a cost at times, but I don’t think $100 increase is out of line.
That’s the price of the Radspeeds King Tours have always been at that price point
Edit: when I was typing the response, no one had responded yet. but it looks like I’m far from the first to tell you this. Didn’t mean to say the same things others already had lol
not 100% sure why, but i thought they wer all under $1k
And, I absolutely love how the paint fill (yellow and green) on the wedge below complements the copper finish, and the yellow ferrule trim rings completely set the whole thing off. That is a snazzy looking golf club.
Schweeet. Curious how they will wear out over time.
Right, the article shows the forged tecs as $1199. Is that a typo? Just genuinely curious
I believe that is incorrect as the info given to us from their team says $1199.
