If you have been paying attention to the PGA Tour the past few weeks, then you know about the worst kept secret in putters. In the bag of Jon Rahm as well as being the number one model on Tour the past couple of weeks, the 2-Ball Ten is very real, and it’s actually part of a new Odyssey Ten lineup.
The company is running with the tagline “Shape Matters”, and they could not have nailed it more concisely or accurately if they wanted to.
When Powers Combine
First off, like it or not, the Odyssey 2-Ball is on the Mount Rushmore of putter shapes. This is a design that was the first true outside the box mallet that proved mallets could be beneficial to even the best players on the planet. From there, the floodgates opened, and it finally became OK to push the limits of putters. But how do you take that to the next level?
Well, you have it procreate with another legendary shape of course.
Enter the Odyssey Ten, which yes, is very similar in appearance to another Mount Rushmore putter shape. That said, Odyssey has perhaps perfected it, and since its addition to their arsenal, it has been a hit both in sales and on Tour. Someone who is way smarter than the rest of us at Odyssey had the thought of combining the Ten shape with the 2-Ball, and here we are.
However, it’s much more than that, in fact, the 2-Ball is but a piece of the new line of putters from Odyssey.
Odyssey Ten Lineup
What has happened here in terms of shape is a cleaner overall look, which Odyssey says has been done by things like closing the “windows” which were on the original Ten in order to make for a cleaner visual at address. The blending of the two putter shapes into one makes for what the company believes to be their most complete and effective 2-Ball variety ever.
However, it’s not just a looks thing. The melding of the designs has translated to quantifiable performance benefits as well. In fact, the new Ten putters have 32% higher MOI compared to the original 2-Ball as well as 20% less twisting at impact, 33% more speed consistency, and 44% more topspin consistency. What does it mean? When you miss center, it will be incredibly stable, predictable, and consistent.
A major reason for those last two stats was the decision to go with the Microhinge Star insert rather than the newly revived White Hot. According to Odyssey, the reason is simple, this putter line is about producing the best possible roll. The MH Star is the best pure performance insert that Odyssey has ever made, and it may not be the OG White Hot, but it is also immensely popular on Tour with its notable firmness.
As for the options, obviously there is a Ten 2-Ball which will feature the iconic circles and be available in plain, Triple Track, and also with the much asked about single Tour Line. Understanding that the circles aren’t for everyone that might benefit from the putter shape itself, they are also releasing a Ten Triple Track, and a Tenwhich has the single long alignment line.
The Details
The new Odyssey Ten line of putters will each feature the same updated Stroke Lab shaft which first released in the White Hot OG putters, simply in charcoal instead of red. Additionally, every head style will be available in S-neck or Double Bend options with a blue and grey Odyssey pistol or oversized grip. The putters will all come in at $299.99 on their release.

Yep. The @Jman review was much better – I should have stated that when I posted (between kids getting up, making breakfast, and getting ready for school…too much going on in the morning) – I just thought it was a nice piece to show the insight that THP gives to their reviews and recommendations.

Yup! Everyone needs some ribbing right now to lighten any load. It is amazing however the insight and early information/recommendations that y’all bring at THP for the members. This place really is a gold mine of knowledge and fun.
Wow I wasn’t expecting this. I’ve never been a 2 ball fan, I keep trying it and wanting to like it but I never do. However, I like a couple of those options actually.

I plan to order the 2-ball + line version with a slant neck. I want to add a mallet, and the combo alignment says “let’s make putts.”

I’m surprised at how much I like the look of the Tour Line
I’ve never been a big fan of the two ball design, just a personal preference. With that said, this has peaked my interest. I’m still not down with the two ball, but the Ten and Ten S I’d like to get in hand and see how it lines up to my eye and feels on the roll.
The single line number 10 with a micro hinge insert would be the way I would go. As far as being comfortable for the eye to look at I think the single line would be the best, followed by the plain 2 ball, and lastly the triple track, which I think is a bit gimmicky and will fade away.
2-Ball Ten in hand. Pics this afternoon when I get home!

Better insert in terms of feel, because honestly that’s where TM has always lagged behind in the Spider putters. It’s never been a shape thing, it’s a feel thing.
Other not talked about enough aspect is when you sit a spider down at address, it wants to rotate on its own in terms of the face rotating open. That was a big thing that when the Ten was designed, by the guy who was behind the spider, Sean Toulon, that they made sure that doesn’t happen with the Ten, at address it sits square on its own.

Good info. One aspect that always turns me off when trying new putters is if they lack the ability to stay square at address and not have a slight bias to open or close. When I see this problem in new putters, and I have often times, it makes me wonder what they are thinking when they build them this way. I couldn’t own a putter that had a biasing in it.
All I can say is monkey balls!! Let me explain. I have been a 2ball guy for over 18 years. Although I have always kept very good care of my putter, Father Time has slowly been catching up to her. I toyed with getting a spyder but decided to custom order a new 2ball. Ended up buying the women’s blue 2ball to my specs. I am very happy with the new 2ball BUT I would 100% would have bought the 2ball-10.

Man, the women’s blue finish on those though is SO badass! You win either way!
Im going to have some pics up today, but suffice to say this thing sets up INSANELY well to my eye which absolutely warps my mind.
Personally, I’m still a WH over MH Start insert guy, and hopping back and forth in practice from OG 2-Ball to 2-Ball Ten magnifies how firm the Star is in comparison, but the thing is so easy to align. Im not a huge 2-Ball guy, at all, but this putter is going to seL…a LOT.

I’m definitely going to have to find a WH to roll, just to see what the noise is all about. To me, the MH Star insert in my Ten hits the perfect spot of being firm while not too firm. The feel and sound are both great and I’ve never had better distance control than I do with this putter.
I definitely agree that the Ten is easy to align. It sets up square as soon as you put it down – no manipulation needed, just point and shoot.
Like I said, absolutely easy to set up and aim. 😳
The 2Ball Ten. The putter I didn’t know I needed…until now.

I love the feel of the WH and I’ve been it’s most staunch supporter, but I totally get why they’d put the star in this one.
I just hope we see them start to use both inserts, own it, the legend and the performance perfect marvel.

Oh I get it. High tech putter deserves their high tech insert. 10000% agree with that. Just was hoping for both as an option.
Fitting is set at Callaway HQ. Two ball versus Toulon Chicago for spot in the bag. Will be done on SAMM lab for full analysis. Jonesing to see if a two ball will actually make the bag considering I’m talked so much crap about it for years.
