So far in 2024, PING Golf has been quite busy when it comes to irons, but believe it or not, business is about to pick up even more starting today with two new irons joining the fray. First up, things are getting hollow with the PING i530 seeing the brand try to form an even larger presence in the hollow-body players distance style iron.
PING i530 Irons
Now more than ever, it seems that PING is embracing the realities of golf club design trends and what consumers want. There is no better example of that than the brand evolving their take on the hollow-body clubhead. The i530’s are PING’s effort to create a well machined iron head that uses a 17-4 Stainless Steel body that has a forged maraging steel C300 face to create a profile they believe that even blade lovers will enjoy but offers a lot more firepower.
Internally, the hollow cavity is filled with a polymer which seeks to dampen the feedback while still allowing the face to flex as much as possible, a formula that you are no doubt familiar with by now as most companies have this type of design in their arsenal. For PING, they are touting that the actual 17-4 body design helps the face flex, and it accentuates it by moving the CG to locations where impact occurs on each club.
The aim here is better feel with higher speed that still offers ample fitting potential. To aid in that, PING is implementing their three-loft configuration option (Standard, Power, Retro) so that launch and flight windows can be optimized for each golfer. The fact that the face flexes more than the i525 is the biggest story, but the aesthetics are sure to be discussed as well with not only a better overall look but a new machining process allowing more consistency than ever from PING.
The Details
The PING i530 irons will be available in 4-PW and UW in three different loft options. They will come standard with True Temper DG Mid 100/115 or PING Alta CB Black graphite shafts. As always, there are many optional shaft choices available as well. The i530’s will be priced at $205/club for steel and $220/club for graphite.

Those look cleaner than past lines
The look better but not sure about them. I did like the i525 fairly well. Time will tell.
Scheduled a fitting for Saturday between these the Cally Pros, and King Tours to see where I’m at. Looking forward to it.
These look really good to me. Love the clean, industrial look
It looks like they will blend well with the i59’s and 230’s if someone wanted a combo set. I love how manufacturers are doing that now
I like the overall look quite a bit. I feel like they are bigger than they look in pictures for some reason? Need to see them in person.
Those look really good. Does the notch in the hosel serve any purpose sorry if I missed that in the article.

Easier loft and lie adjustments since it’s cast.
I think these actually look pretty stellar.
Curious to hit them because in the past, the sound has been a hiccup for PING.
Nice looking clubs to me. Like the different loft options.
I could easily split these with an i230 and be happy.

They’re definitely a little bigger than some other filled hollow bodies people tend to want to group then in with.

Maybe it’s just the angle at which the photos were taken, but the notch in the hosel looks enormous on these clubs…. (in comparison to my i200’s)

The 730’s looked more so with how the hosel transitions to the leading edge and top line.

Feel on these vs the last iteration is better. The sound issue has been addressed for sure from the i525. These are rockets off the face as well.
Nothing I’d call big about this

Yup, it’s a surprisingly killer look.
Were the i500’s and i525’s considered ugly looking ? I’m surprised by all the surpriseness lol

Don’t know I’d of ever called this series ugly, this new release looks fantastic.
Interesting how they were able to mill the back of the iron down to create weight savings higher up the club and lower the CG 10% on these.
I play the 525’s and very happy with them. Dont understand the sound issue. When i flush them i feel a click and maybe hear a click. Sounds good to me! I saw these 530’s the other day in the PGA store. Pretty much identical to the 525’s

I’m pretty deep in this rabbit hole now any chance someone can translate

Definitely bigger overall than things like 245, and looking around the most comparable hollow body I could find on size is the Forged Tec X. Less elegant in the toe maybe, but I think the 530 looks noticeably cleaner over the ball.

530 on the left.
Welp… went to get fit today with eyes on 245’s or ZX5’s…. And these out performed all of them by leaps and bounds. The sound and feel are spectacular. Never thought I’d have Pings in the bag…. But they’ll be here is 2 weeks or so. New era for me and couldn’t be more excited based on today’s experience.

I was MuchMore consistent with those than the others. He played around with shaft as well and we stayed x100 but went with 120 g vs 132 g. Ball speed jumped up to 125 average with distance up to to 190 yards versus my current gamers at 118 BS and 175 yards.

went in thinking I wanted Mizuno 245, but also tried ZX5, and Blueprint S. I let the fitter do his job and wasnt set on anything once we got going
Had my fitting today and have been looking forward to trying these as they check the boxes I hoped for on the visuals and was really pleased with the performance we were able to create out of them. I’m a low hitter with even less spin so my goal was to increase both with my fitting. I tried the T200’s, Callaway Pro’s, and compared my ZX5 gamers to these and they killed the others in ball speed. I was able to produce 8 MPH ball speed over my irons and the Pro’s with a stock setup. The peak height was highest of the 4 but still not high enough for what I was looking for as so was the spin so the fitter and I got creative by making them retro spec’d as well as going lighter in shaft weight to produce a more favorable launch that I need for my swing. Was able to improve my spin in the mid to high 3000’s to the mid to high 5000’s by making these changes. Will be looking into ball choices to help get over the last little bit I need to hit my optimal goals. Ordered 6-G and really looking forward to getting these in hand and on the course. Will say the sound and feel on these has been greatly improved over the 525’s as well the toe height was shrunk a bit to give a great presentation against the ball.

Didn’t you say you wanted to go graphite this year? I play the 120X100 so I don’t have to do the full weight X1 too. I think it’s a good compromise.

Regular, typically play 105g regular as I like to feel the shaft through the whole swing so we went 75g to exaggerate the launch which helped out a bit.

I did something similar to this, I bought a set of I230 heads last summer and bought Kinetixx Trajectory A flex shafts and put in those. I was pleased with the launch they had.
