Divide.
The Dictionary defines it three ways:
- To separate into two or more parts, areas, or groups
- To separate into portions and give out shares
- To cause to be separate, distinct, or apart from one another
Honestly, it is a word that is intertwined with the serious, and oft over-serious nature of the world we live in today. Thankfully though, Srixon Golf is taking the word and applying it to a much more entertaining thing…golf balls.
In a move that will undoubtedly provide a lot of discussion among golfers, Srixon is bringing back the two-tone golf ball. Say hello to the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE.
Enter the Srixon Divide
Yes, let’s get right to it. Look at that cover.
While those who have been around the game for a few decades may be immediately taken back to the design of a company from yesteryear, many are surely left going, ‘woah’.
Not only is the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE a two-tone golf ball, but it is also a two-tone matte finished golf ball with one half red and the other yellow. More than that, the company is quick to point out that this is not a painted-on finish, both colors are infused into the new thermoplastic urethane cover of the DIVIDE ensuring both durability and consistency.
Why two-tone? Well, to make spin visible for golfers, particularly in the short game. The nature of the dual colors means golfers will be able to witness the spin of their pitch and chip shots and get visual feedback from that in practice and on the course. Additionally, when it comes to putting, the dual colors offer an alignment aid one direction, and a check on the forward roll (or lack thereof) when set up in the other direction. What some may not realize is those classic golf balls that used this look are still in the practice bags of many golfers, and now they can get that same practice effect with a modern golf ball that can be taken to the course.
Internally, the DIVIDE is the same performance driven golf ball of the standard Q-STAR TOUR. It offers the same FastLayer Core and 338 dimple pattern that creates the wide range of playability that the non-DIVIDE version does. It remains a 3-piece urethane golf ball which has a 72-compression rating and is aimed at 75 MPH and up players offering a Mid-High launch and High greenside spin.
The DIVIDE will hit stores on 4/15/21 and carry a $32.99 price point.
What do you think about the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE from Srixon? Is it something you plan on giving a try? Is it too far out of your wheelhouse? Jump into the discussion below and on the THP Community and let us know!
Visibility is great but I could see the fall leaves being an issue.
It may be worth the curiosity. Very interesting to use on or around the green in that you can see it roll, and the Q Star is a very good ball.
It is really fun to watch it spin on chips. Even with the driver you can see it spinning in the air.
I actually got to play this ball Saturday and its AWESOME!
I had seen these and really had no interest in them. One of my buddies found one on the course and I was like "hey, toss that here ill put it to play" since its the Q Star Tour which is my gamer anyway. When I seen the ball in the air on my tee shot I was like wow that was f’n cool. Then I hit my gap wedge about 105 and when the ball his the green I could see it spin backwards. Really cool
SOLD
I had used it several times on the practice green before taking it out on the course.
I could get down with that.
unless im colorblind – that is yellow and white. I want Green and White.
Even like to see a yellow and green.
That yellow and white XV is cool
Q Star Tour is my gamer….this is just totally fun
I found one and played it… Lives up to the Q star name. I’ve used it for chipping and pitching practice and a few putting drills. It’s genuinely fun to watch around the green!
The Blue makes zero sense and I saw someone suggested Green?? WTF Why would you want a Green Ball???
I don’t know what be worse a green ball or Blue ones?
Is suggested lime green, key details to remember… See a Vice… Not exactly sure how that is hard to comprehend especially since vice and oncore already do it, but maybe the consumers buying it are not smart…
FWIW this would be the best seller!

a buddy tried a matte blue ball and it was horrible to see in air and then on the ground…worst color I’ve ever tried to find!
In the winter months when the fairways are brown, the blue ones are great then and only then.

I love the Divide for its spin feedback too. They are more fun that i thought they would be. And the QST is a fantastic ball.
Played one today for a couple holes, amazing ball and the price is totally worth it.
I haven’t played them yet, but a friend has been playing them and they’re sure fun to watch! The QST is a great ball, I’ll have to give the Divides a try at some point.
Here ya go.
I like the Matte finish on the Q-Star tours.
I am just waiting on the annual sale to stock up.
I have 4 dozen 2 red and 2 Orange and 3 Dozen Yellow tours.
I am saving the Divides for my trip to Myrtle Beach.
I am curious How did you use it to tee off? I always pick 1 color to tee off. I think the Red side go farther!
I do putt with it sideways but that lets me see how my roll is.
Honestly I didn’t tinker with it much and that’s on me. I’ve played Callaway exclusively all year, but my wife bought these for me for Christmas and when I was getting low on CS in the bag I gave these a shot. I didn’t really pick a side on the tee and that was probably a mistake and i played the Blue/Yellow so maybe that wasn’t the best choice either.
On the green I did line it up sideways, but after a year of using Triple Track it just messed with my noggin.
I’d definitely like to spend more time with them because I’ve really enjoyed the Q Star Tour in the past, it’s a great ball.
Later this year I’ll try them again and see if picking a color off the tee helps and see if I can find some red ones.
I always thought red from other MFGs was super hard to find in rough.
You wouldn’t think so, but, oddly: It is. Or can be. Particularly in fall leaves.
I did a test two autumns ago, comparing the visibility of various ball colors in a mix of rough and leaves. Much to my surprise, the ones easiest to spot were bright green, green/yellow, and bright yellow, IIRC. Even the almost fluorescent red ball I had was less visible than those. And that was really bright.
The worst, of the colors I had, was pink. White wasn’t much better.
I think I posted that test here. I’ll see if I can find it.
Here we go: Fall Golf Ball Color Test
Purely subjective but I’ve lost more red/yellow than orange/yellow. To my eyes the orange/yellow stand out more in most golf ball hiding places at the courses I typically play
fun for flair!
The Red is definitely harder to find when it is in the Rough.
The funny thing is that the Only place I ever see the Orange is in small proshops.
Still think they are missing the boat with a Pink version.
