After a session of swinging the clubs, my hands hurt for a week. Not sure if the problem is that I am gripping too hard, having impact with the ground, or if it something else. My hands hurt so bad that it is sometimes hard to write with a pen. As you all know, giving up golf is not an option. :confused2:

I have started using the BionicGloves on my left hand and now my left hand seems to hurt less (but it still hurts) than my right hand. I just ordered the BionicGlove for my right hand to give that a try.

Now I am thinking that it might be a problem with my grips. I'm wondering if a grip that was bigger, softer, tackier, more shock absorbing would help.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If your hands really hurt, I would contact a Dr.

I would agree, a hand specialist would be best. Depending on how old you are it could be arthritis creeping up on you. I do experience this in the beginning of most seasons so I try to work my hands and forearms with weight grips and free weights in the off season.

If this is consistent for you over a longer period of time then the weight strengthening may not help and I would defiantly seek a specialist.

Thanks JB and BnG.

I was kinda saving the doctor thing as a last resort in case the answer was, "Take some Motrin and stop swinging golf clubs.".

Doctor FIRST. I suffer hand pain and ice my hand after rounds. Lots of broken fingers. Former wide receiver.

4 years ago my left shoulder started to hurt, then it froze. 4 times separated, I could only raise my shoulder inches. Rehab and Motrin brought the shoulder back, however the Motrin ate a hole in my stomach and I almost bled out.

Motrin should not be taken daily!

See your Doctor.

Change the grip if you using overlapping golf grip. Interlocking grip is much healthier, but you may hook a bit (it is not a bad thing if you slice).

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I do use an overlapping grip. I also re-gripped my clubs with Winn DSi oversized grips. If these don't work then it is off to Orthopedics.

Go see a doctor. Preferably a sports injury doctor since it seems your golf swing is what is causing you grief. Then depending on what the doctor tells you go from there with a possible swing, or equipment change.

Myself, I started getting pains in my hands/wrists some years ago. The pain would start on the back 9, and last for a few days, after no golf. If I were golfing every couple of days the pain would not go away. I have a very high threshold to pain, so it was never enough to keep me off the golf course. Just an annoyance. Long story short after a doctor's opinion, I started taking less of a divot on the not so divot friendly south west golf courses I frequent. Age, and the onset of arthritis starting to creep up were other factors. Once I changed to shallower divots, my hands have been relatively pain free.

My left shoulder has been acting up recently. I have no clue what is wrong with the bugger. It hurts when I stretch before swinging the club and sometimes it hurts after I get done playing. I am far too young for this. If it keeps up this year, I may have to get a Dr. to check it out before next season.

Potentially torn rotator cuff. I am going to see a specialist....

...after the outing. Can't risk him saying "don't golf"

On my way to the rheumatologist on Tuesday for severe aches and pains in my wrists, forearms, and shoulders in the mornings. =X

My left shoulder is junk. Most of the time it snap crackles and pops on me. When I move it the wrong way I am rewarded with tingly fingers and a dull throbbing ache. Other than that it works flawlessly!

I've had multiple Knee surgeries on both knees, so they hurt most of the time, 5 broken right arms in multiple spots so it can creak and moan on me. Torn right achilles that hurts when its cold and really have to stretch out, and last year I fully cut the extensor tendon to my left thumb and it hasn't fully healed yet and might never. It hurts every day. There are a few others but thats the majority of my daily aches and pains, and I'm only 29.

Brother had the same issue, 3 minor holes for surgery, and a few months of rehab, and he's almost as good as new... So if you do need some type of surgery for that, it means time out of golf.

My left knee hurts if I cross it too long (result from getting it kicked backwards when I was 13)
My right wrist aches from using the mouse/keyboard all day
My lower back hurts from bad posture and sitting at a computer all day
My feet hurt because I walk too hard on them.

I'm an idiot.

Oh Jeez, I could write a freakin' book. In the last two days--

Bruised forehead.
Near constant headache due to said forehead.
Stiff neck.
Aching left knee.
Stiff back.
Sore fingers from countless stickers (aka, mini thorns)
A bruised shin from slipping after practice as I walked up the bleachers.
Various cuts, scrapes, and lesions from stickers, said slip on bleachers, and various other events.
General muscle ache all over.

I could go on.

I think I tweaked my left pec playing today. No swinging for the next couple of days.

I get periodic headaches when I golf. Something different is sore every day.. today it was the back again. Being in the golf stance for too long always gives me some pain.

A major cause of headaches is dehydration- If you start to feel a headache coming on, grabbing a water is one of the best "immediate" things you can do

I'm playing co-ed softball for church league and I'm falling apart. Slid/fell :D about 2 1/2 weeks ago and had some nice strawberries on inside of both knees and they swoll up pretty good. For 3 days I walked like I broke something. Knees have almost healed but right knee is still bothering me. I guess went down on both knees then slid so doubled the injury. Pain behind the right knee hurts to bend or when I have to kneel down. Tweaked left arm trying to throw from outfield to home but that has almost went away. 4 more games and then I can heal!

Gave myself the kiss of death by telling Mdbuschr that my back was feeling great yesterday. Woke up this morning and it's killing me. Both of my wrists are now sore to the touch. Can't wait for the outing!

Arthritis aches and pains in hands knees and hip, to blown discs in lower back press up on my sciatic nerve so it shoots pain down my left leg pretty much all the time, I've gotten so used to it hurting that it feels weird now when it doesn't.
