Miyazaki B. Asha Review - Forum Testing

Driving home right now. Eye opening.

16 grams is a lot.

Can't wait to read your write up bro.

Nate, Wess and Dam, loved the intros and think they are great background for the testing. Really can't wait to follow this thread.

I am also in the group that can't wait for Jman's writeup. I'm looking forward to see how he likes the lighter weight.

Not gonna be a formal writeup as its not my show here, but since I'm with it early I'll definitely share some thoughts....and I have plenty of those. I just want to let it digest tonight a bit.

This is a solid tease man.. I'm very interested in hearing how that first drive felt. Did you go cold turkey?

Cold. Piped it.

I'll type out more tomorrow, I'll say this though, the 4X is NOT to be taken lightly. No pun intended, dead serious.

Excellent kick offs Nate, Wes's, and Dam. This is an excellent blend of testers we have here. We all are going to benefit greatly by the blend of different people, swings, and demands on the golf club. This is totally awesome

Damaikis I am curious as to why you don't like a smooth in control swing. I think anyone that swings too hard will have a hard time getting the club to catch up. If you get good results when you smooth it out, wouldn't you say you're over swinging when you go after it?

Jman with some 'JB-esque' teases...

I just find that I make better swings when I go at it hard. When I swing slower I have issues with timing and other things. I actually hit it straighter when I go after it.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it buddy! I know I hit the 5x in Des Moines and killed it, but really I think the 4x is probably what I should be in with that shaft.

Well my New Classic head came in today. It's sitting on the counter waiting patiently for a new shaft. Can't wait!

Nice! Remind me, did you go with 9* again?

I want to see pictures of this badly.

The classic and this shaft could be lethal for ya, looking forward to following along

looks like a great cross section of players and swing types, and seems the 4x and 5s will get the most play. Very interested in the testing over the next few months.

OK then, I honestly wanted to let it all sink in last night before I tried to put anything in to words. Had some good conversation with JB, JRod, and TBT about it though and that certainly helped. I'm not doing anything formal with this, that's not my place in this one, I do have some thoughts on the 4X though.

1) 15-19 grams is a LOT. Coming from a 6M3 that was 64g and an Oban Devo that was 68g most recently, to say I could feel the difference was an understatement. The thing is, it actually let me feel where the head was a LOT more than before. I like that fact.

2) I gamed the C.Kua 39 and 43 in a driver for a while when they first came out, they were noodle like to me even in X. There is NOT comparison there with the 4X B.Asha and the C.Kua 39/43. Even at 49g this thing is stable.

3) Lighter does NOT mean weaker. Even I struggled with that coming in to this going to the 4-series B.Asha. That thought was in my head, I thought "Well, its lighter and only has a 4 in the tip, plus it says its a mid-high launch". Don't think like that, just don't do it. This is an X flex shaft, it is ALL there. It may have a softer tip section but the stiffness of the butt section IMO is going to demand an aggressive move/transition from the top and if you aren't prepared for that or don't have that in your swing you may not have a great experience. I do think some of our "big hitters" could MURDER with this shaft, get over the weight, it holds up beautifully. Just my opinion of course, but one that needs to be kept in mind.

4) "Mid-High" is deceiving. Yes, I hit it higher than my 6M3, but it was lower than the Kusala Black I played for the longest time. Not a ton mind you, but it was lower. Now, for me, this was fine and I loved the flight I saw, it just goes and climbs for me, I do think my transition has a lot to do with it too though. This launched equal to most of the low-launch shafts I've ever hit/played...and I've played a ton. Honestly, I know I can play this shaft and play it well IMO, but I think a 5S might have been even better for me in all honesty...and honesty is what this is all about.

5) It was a great day. I come back to STABLE again like so many of us raved about in Des Moines. I swung smooth and hit it well. I "got after" it and hit it well also. Excluding swing faults on a couple holes (lifting WAY up and out mid swing) I really liked what I saw, and yes, I did see a slight increase on my averages according to what I recorded with my GPS.

Nothing groundbreaking I know, but some things to think about for sure. I'll get to get out all day Wed/Thu/Fri next week thanks to fall break and I honestly can't wait.

Well, dang. I really want to hit that 4S right now. How's the smoothness for you, Jman? Maybe not the best question since you mentioned possibly being a little overflexed. I thought the 4S had a nice feel compared to the 43S and I'm not normally one to really notice that so much.

Not overflexed at all for me and the way I swing, I just think I could also have alot of success with the 5S too. Plus I just really want to get across for people to not think just because its a 49g shaft that its going to play softer, not the case at all.

Great feel through the swing for me buddy, I really really enjoyed it. Just like I did the 5X.

Right on. That makes sense.

I am curious if you hit well why would you think the 5S would work better. If it performed on smooth and all out swings, why wouldn't game it? What is it about the 4X you don't like? from where I am sitting it looks like the shaft is well suited for you. You got a ball flight you liked. It stayed stable with various swings and was responsvie on miss hits.

Just a thought in my head Freddie, that's all. I have no qualms about the 4X for me from what I saw yesterday, I just also think the 5S could be a good fit too.

Jman - interesting that you are seeing a lower flight than the Kusala Black. That's a shaft I've played before as well, although I played it in a high spin/high launch head. Do you think that's a shaft characteristic, or do you think it's the total setup that is giving you that result? Also if you can already, how do you compare the feel of the shaft compared to that K Black?

That's awesome stuff Jman. I'm glad you liked the lighter weight. It sounds like it worked well for you!
